Your complete satisfaction withyour Acura automobile is our maingoal. All personnel at Acuraautomobile dealerships arethoroughly trained to provide thebest service for your car. If you arenot satisfied with any maintenanceor repair work done by thedealership, follow these threesteps:Step 1 - Talk over your concernswith the dealership's management,such as the Service Manager orGeneral Manager. In most cases, asatisfactory solution is found atthis step.Step 2 - We recognize that, onsome occasions, a customer willnot be totally satisfied with adealer's decision or actions in Step1. If this is the case, you shouldcall or write the Acura CustomerRelations Office. The address and

telephone number are on theinside front cover. Please providethe following information:• Year, model, and Vehicle

Identification Number of yourcar, and its current mileage.

• The name of the dealer whosold you the car.

• The name of the dealer whoservices your car.

• Date, mileage, and reason foreach visit to an Acuradealership.

• Any non-Acura-dealershiprepair service for theproblem(s).

• Your daytime and eveningtelephone numbers.

The staff of the CustomerRelations Office is interested inworking with you and thedealership to find a satisfactorysolution.

Step 3 - If you disagree with thedecision reached by the staff ofthe Acura Customer RelationsOffice, you may request to haveyour case reviewed in anindependent forum run by theCouncil of Better BusinessBureaus (BBB). This program iscalled "BBB AUTO LINE." You mayfile a claim at any time by callingthe Better Business Bureau,toll-free, at 1-800-955-5100. Yourcall will be automatically directedto the BBB in your area.

BBB AUTO LINE'S purpose is toresolve disputes between vehiclemanufacturers and theircustomers. BBB AUTO LINE'Sdecision makers are impartialthird parties who will listen toboth the customer and themanufacturer and decide what canbe done to resolve thedisagreement.

The BBB AUTO LINE'S decision isnot binding on you unless youagree to accept it. If you acceptthe decision, Acura will abide byit. Generally, disputes submittedto BBB AUTO LINE are resolvedwithin 40 days (47 days if youhave not first contacted Acuraabout your complaint).Acura offers you the opportunityto mediate and arbitrate adisagreement through BBB AUTOLINE because we want you to feelthat you have been treated fairly.

Eligibility is limited by yourvehicle's age, mileage, and otherfactors. In order to file a claim,you need to provide your nameand address, the VehicleIdentification Number of your car,and a brief statement outlining thedisagreement. Initially, BBB maytry to resolve the disagreementthrough mediation. If this is notsuccessful, your complaint will bereviewed by an impartial,volunteer arbitrator. You maypresent the facts of your case tothe arbitrator at an informalmeeting.

We encourage you to use thisprogram before, or instead of,going to court. It is informal, freeof charge to you, and generallyresolves problems much fasterthan the court system. Lawyersare usually not involved in theresolution of claims through the

BBB, although you may obtain oneat your own expense if youchoose.

If you want to go to court, we donot require you to first file a claimwith BBB AUTO LINE. Please notethat laws in some states mayrequire that you file a claim withBBB AUTO LINE before you canproceed to a state-operateddispute resolution process or thecourt system. If you do not acceptthe decision of BBB AUTO LINE,you can still go to court.


Lemon LawsMany states have enacted whatare commonly referred to as"Lemon Laws." Although thedetails of these laws vary fromstate to state, their main purposeis to assure you certain rights ifyou have problems with your newcar. In general terms, these lawsusually say that if your car has aproblem that cannot be repairedin several attempts, or has a seriesof problems that keep it out ofservice for an extended period,you may qualify for relief underthe lemon law in your state.

Some states require you to notifythe manufacturer about theproblem(s), and some states givethe manufacturer, or itsrepresentative, a chance tocorrect the problem(s). A statemay require you to submit yourcomplaint to a dispute resolutionprogram, such as BBB AUTO LINE,before proceeding to otherforums.

Lemon Laws have manyprovisions. If you feel your newAcura qualifies for considerationunder the lemon law in your area,we suggest you check the laws inyour state.

We want you to be satisfied withyour Acura automobile. If youhave any questions, pleasecontact your Acura dealer or theCustomer Relations Office.

Some Repairs May Be Covered Beyond the Limited Warranty

Acura may cover, under a specialadjustment program, some or allof the cost to repair a problemthat is not covered by your car'slimited warranties.

If your car develops a problemyou feel should be repaired byAcura at no cost, discuss it withyour dealer.

If you are not satisfied with yourAcura dealer's decision, call orwrite the Acura CustomerRelations Office (the address andtelephone number are on theinside front cover). Please providethis information about your car:year, model, Vehicle IdentificationNumber (VIN), mileage,maintenance history, a detailedexplanation of the problem, andwhy you think Acura should beresponsible for the repair. Yourrequest will be investigated, andyou will be informed of Acura'sdecision.

General Warranty Provisions

The warranty coverages in thisbooklet are offered only to theowner of a 1996 Acura automobile.To be covered, the vehicle mustbe distributed by American Hondathrough the Acura AutomobileDivision, and sold by an Acuraautomobile dealer in the UnitedStates, Puerto Rico, or the U.S.Virgin Islands.

Parts replaced under any of thewarranties in this booklet becomethe property of Acura. Acura willmake the final decision whether torepair any existing part orassembly or replace it.

Acura may usefactory-remanufactured partsrather than new parts for somewarranty repairs. Those parts, likenew parts, are covered for theremainder of the New Car LimitedWarranty (see page 13).

The warranties in this booklet donot cover:

• The failure of any part oraccessory due to:- Abuse, misuse, accidental

damage, or acts of God.- Improper installation or

maintenance.- A low fluid level or the use of

a fluid other than specified byAcura.

- The installation of any partthat is not equal to theoriginal in quality of materialsor workmanship.

- Use of the vehicle incompetition or racing events.

• Any installed part or accessorythat fails because it was notdesigned to fit that year andmodel of Acura.

• Any car with an odometer thathas been altered so it isimpossible to determine theactual mileage.

• Any car while it is registered ornormally driven outside theUnited States, Puerto Rico, orthe U.S. Virgin Islands.

• Any failure caused by modifyingthe vehicle, or installingaccessories not authorized byAcura.

• Any incidental expenses orinconvenience you may sufferdue to the loss of use of your car.

New Car Limited Warranty

Time and Mileage PeriodThis warranty begins on the datethe car is put into use in one of thefollowing ways:• The car is delivered to the first

purchaser by an Acura dealer.• The car is leased.• The car is used as a

demonstrator or company car.Your car is covered for 4 years or50,000 miles, whichever comesfirst.

Warranty CoverageAcura will repair or replace anypart that is defective in material orworkmanship under normal use.See Proper Operation on page 38.All repairs/replacements madeunder this warranty are free ofcharge. The replaced or repairedparts are covered only until thisNew Car Warranty expires.

This Warranty Does Not Cover• Emissions control systems,

Accessories, Battery, or Tires.(They have their ownwarranties.)

• Normal wear or deterioration ofany part.

• Cleaning and polishing.• The adding of any fluids, unless

they are needed as part of awarranty repair.

• Air conditioner refrigerantcharge after the first year,unless required as part of awarranty repair.

• Broken, chipped, or scratchedwindow glass unless it is due toa defect in material orworkmanship.

• Any item concerning your car'sgeneral appearance that is notdue to a defect in material orworkmanship.

• The replacement of expendablemaintenance items (such asspark plugs, filters, wiperblades, or brake pads/linings),unless they are defective inmaterial or workmanship.

• Wheel balancing and wheelalignment after 1 year or 12,000miles, unless required as part ofa warranty repair.

Federal Emissions Warranties

Your Warranty Rightsand ObligationsThe Emissions-related Defects andEmissions Performance warrantiesare in addition to the Acura NewCar Limited Warranty. Thesewarranties are given only to theowner of a 1996 Acura distributedby American Honda through theAcura Automobile Division, andsold by an authorized Acuradealer in the fifty United States, theDistrict of Columbia, theCommonwealth of Puerto Rico, theVirgin Islands, Guam, AmericanSamoa, and the Commonwealth ofthe Northern Mariana Islands.

If an authorized Acura automobiledealer cannot repair your car orhonor your claim within areasonable period of time, contactthe Acura Customer RelationsOffice for assistance (see insidefront cover), or you may write to:

Your ResponsibilitiesTo qualify for coverage by theDefects and Performancewarranties, you should operateand maintain your 1996 Acuraaccording to the requirements onpage 38 of this warranty booklet,and the Maintenance Schedule inthe Owner's Manual. Thisschedule is designed to keep yourcar's emissions control systemsfunctioning properly bymaintaining your car in peakoperating condition.

Acura will not deny a claim foremissions warranty coveragesimply because you did notmaintain the vehicle, or do nothave maintenance records toshow that you did. However, anypart that fails because of abuse orlack of maintenance will not becovered by this warranty.


Acura recommends that only partssupplied by Acura or equivalentparts be used to repair your car.Maintenance, replacement, orrepair of emissions controldevices and systems may be doneby any automotive repairestablishment or individual.

Under normal circumstances,Acura will pay for warranty repairsonly when they are performed atan authorized Acura repair facility.However, in an emergencysituation, the repair of emissionscontrol devices or systems may bedone by any automotive repairestablishment or individual, or bythe owner, using any replacementpart. An emergency situation isconsidered to exist if anauthorized Acura repair facility orwarranted part is not reasonablyavailable to correct a problem.

Acura will reimburse you for thoseemergency repairs that arecovered by the EmissionsWarranties. Parts reimbursementis at the manufacturer's suggestedretail price, and laborreimbursement is at ageographically-appropriate hourlylabor rate for Acura'srecommended time allowance. Forreimbursement, present thereplaced parts and a copy of thepaid receipt to any authorizedAcura automobile dealer.

The use of replacement parts notequivalent to the original partsmay impair the effectiveness ofyour car's emissions controlsystems. If a non-equivalentreplacement part is used in themaintenance or repair of your car,and if an authorized Acuraautomobile dealer determines it isdefective or causes a failure of awarranted part, your claim for

repair to bring your car intocompliance with applicablestandards may be denied. If thepart in question is not related tothe reason your car fails to meetthe standards, your claim will notbe denied.

These Warranties Do Not Coven• Failures or malfunctions of the

emissions control systemscaused by abuse, alteration,accident, misuse, or the use ofleaded gasoline.

• Replacement of maintenanceitems such as, but not limitedto, spark plugs, filters, hoses,belts, coolant or lubricantsbeyond their first requiredmaintenance point.

• Consequential damages such asloss of time or use of the car.


Warranty CoverageAcura warrants that yourautomobile:1. Is designed, built and equipped

to conform at the time of salewith all applicable emissionsstandards.

and2. Is free from defects in materials

and workmanship that wouldcause it to fail to conform withapplicable emissionsrequirements during thespecified time and mileageperiod.

A list of the parts covered by thiswarranty is on pages 26-27.Several parts in the emissionscontrol systems are covered for 8years or 80,000 miles, whichevercomes first. Those parts areidentified by ♦ on pages 26-27.

Time and Mileage PeriodThis warranty begins on the datethe car is delivered to the firstpurchaser other than anauthorized Acura dealer, or thedate it is first used as ademonstrator, lease, or companycar, whichever comes first, andcontinues for 4 years or 50,000miles, whichever comes first.

To Get EmissionsWarranty ServiceRepairs covered by this warrantywill be performed at no charge forparts, labor, and diagnosis.An authorized Acura dealer isrequired, within 30 days of thetime you take your car to thedealer for emissions warrantyservice, to either honor your claimfor adjustment, repair, orreplacement, or notify you in

writing that your claim is beingdenied, and explain why.

If this time limit is not met, anauthorized Acura dealer willperform the required repairs freeof charge. The only exceptionsallowed are when you, the owner,request or agree to a delay, or thedelay is caused by circumstancesbeyond the control of Acura or thedealer.

If an authorized Acura automobiledealer is not able to repair yourcar within 30 days from the timeyou take it to the dealer, you mayhave your car repaired at anyrepair facility you choose. Theonly exceptions allowed are whenyou, the owner, request or agreeto a delay, or the delay is causedby circumstances beyond thecontrol of Acura or the dealer.

Emissions-related Defects Warranty


If you choose a repair facility thatis not an authorized Acura dealer,Acura will reimburse you for therepair. Parts reimbursement is atthe manufacturer's suggestedretail price, and laborreimbursement is at ageographically-appropriate hourlylabor rate for Acura'srecommended time allowance. Forreimbursement, present thereplaced part(s) and a copy of thepaid receipt to any authorizedAcura automobile dealer.

This warranty begins on the datethe car is delivered to the firstpurchaser other than anauthorized Acura dealer, or thedate it is first used as ademonstrator, lease or companycar, whichever comes first.

Warranty CoverageAcura warrants that if your carfails an EPA-approved emissionsshort test, to bring your car intocompliance with applicableemissions standards Acura will, atno cost to you:

• During the first 4 years or 50,000miles, whichever comes first,make all adjustments, diagnosis,repairs and replacementsnecessary, including those partslisted on pages 26-27.

To Get EmissionsWarranty ServiceIf your car fails an EPA-approvedshort test, it should be taken to anauthorized Acura automobiledealer. Take along proof ofpurchase date and a copy of thetest report.

NOTE: The emissions test shouldbe performed with the car atnormal operating temperature.Before getting a test, drive the carfor several miles at 25 MPH orabove and test the car as soon aspossible after driving.

Repairs covered by this warrantywill be performed at no charge forparts, labor, and diagnosis.

Emissions Performance Warranty


An authorized Acura dealer isrequired, within 30 days of thetime you take your car to thedealer for emissions warrantyservice, to either honor your claimfor adjustment, repair, orreplacement, or notify you inwriting that your claim is beingdenied, and explain why.

Your Warranty Rightsand ObligationsThe California Air ResourcesBoard and Acura are pleased toexplain the emission controlsystems warranty on your 1996vehicle. In California, new motorvehicles must be designed, builtand equipped to meet the State'sstringent anti-smog standards.Acura must warrant the emissioncontrol system on your vehicle forthe periods of time listed belowprovided there has been no abuse,neglect or improper maintenanceof your vehicle.

Your emission control system mayinclude parts such as thecarburetor or fuel injectionsystem, the ignition system,catalytic converter, and enginecomputer. Also included may behoses, belts, connectors and otheremissions-related assemblies.

Where a warrantable conditionexists, Acura will repair yourvehicle at no cost to you includingdiagnosis, parts and labor.

Manufacturer'sWarranty CoverageFor 4 years or 50,000 miles(whichever first occurs):

• If your vehicle fails a SmogCheck inspection, all necessaryrepairs and adjustments will bemade by Acura to ensure thatyour vehicle passes theinspection. This is youremissions control systemsPERFORMANCE WARRANTY.

Owner's WarrantyResponsibilitiesAs the vehicle owner, you areresponsible for the performance ofthe required maintenance listed inyour owner's manual. Acurarecommends that you retain allreceipts covering maintenance onyour car, but Acura cannot denywarranty solely for the lack ofreceipts or for your failure toensure the performance of allscheduled maintenance.

You are responsible for presentingyour vehicle to an Acura dealer assoon as a problem exists. Thewarranty repairs should becompleted in a reasonable amountof time, not to exceed 30 days.

Your ResponsibilitiesTo qualify for coverage under thedefects and performancewarranties, you should operateand maintain your 1996 Acuraautomobile according to therequirements on page 38 of thisWarranty booklet, and theMaintenance Schedule in theOwner's Manual. This schedule isdesigned to keep your car'semissions control systemsfunctioning properly bymaintaining your car in peakoperating condition.

Acura will not deny a claim foremissions warranty coveragesimply because you did notmaintain the vehicle, or do nothave maintenance records toshow that you did. However, anypart that fails because of abuse orlack of required maintenance willnot be covered by this warranty.

Acura recommends that only partssupplied by Acura or equivalentparts be used to repair your car.Maintenance, replacement, orrepair of emissions controldevices and systems may be doneby any automotive repairestablishment or individual.

Under normal circumstances,Acura will pay for warranty repairsonly when they are performed atan authorized Acura repair facility.However, in an emergencysituation, the repair of emissionscontrol devices or systems may bedone by any automotive repairestablishment or individual, or bythe owner, using any replacementpart.

An emergency situation isconsidered to exist if anauthorized Acura repair facility isnot reasonably available, or whena warranted part is not available

within 30 days, or when anauthorized Acura repair facility isunable to complete a repair within30 days.

Acura will reimburse you for thoseemergency repairs, includingdiagnosis, covered by theEmissions Warranties. Partsreimbursement is at themanufacturer's suggested retailprice, and labor reimbursement isat a geographically-appropriatehourly labor rate for Acura'srecommended time allowance. The use of replacement parts notequivalent to the original partsmay impair the effectiveness ofyour car's emissions controlsystems. If a non-equivalentreplacement part is used in themaintenance or repair of your car,and if an authorized Acuraautomobile dealer determines it isdefective or causes damage to awarranted part, your claim forrepair to bring your car intocompliance with applicablestandards may be denied. If thepart in question is not related tothe reason your car fails to meetthe standards, your claim will notbe denied.

These Warranties Do Not Coven• Failures or malfunctions of the

emissions control systemscaused by abuse, alteration,accident, misuse, or the use ofleaded gasoline.

• Replacement of maintenanceitems such as, but not limitedto, spark plugs, filters, hoses,belts, coolant or lubricantsbeyond their first scheduledmaintenance.

• Consequential damages such asloss of time or use of the car.

Seat Belt Limited Warranty

While seat belts cannotcompletely remove the possibilityof injury, they do provide a verysignificant level of protectionwhen used properly. Acurabelieves the best way to enhanceyour safety is to use your seatbelt. To encourage their use, theseat belts should always be ingood operating condition.

Time PeriodThis warranty continues for theuseful life of the car.

Warranty CoverageAcura will repair or replace, at itsoption, any Acura seat beltcomponent that fails to functionproperly during normal use. Thisincludes all parts and laborcharges.

This Warranty Does Not Cover:• Replacement of a properly-

Rust Perforation Limited Warranty

Only the car's owner can make aclaim under this warranty.Coverage cannot be transferred toany other person or institution(such as an insurance company).

Time and Mileage PeriodThis warranty's coverage beginson the same date as the New CarLimited Warranty (see page 13),and continues for 5 years with nomileage limit. Any body panelsrepaired or replaced under thiswarranty are covered only for thetime remaining in the original 5years of coverage.

Warranty CoverageAcura will repair or replace anyoriginal body panel that rustscompletely through from theinside out (perforated bycorrosion). This includes panelspreviously repaired or replacedunder this warranty. Rust thatdoes not perforate, but is causedby a defect in material orworkmanship, is covered underthe New Car Limited Warranty. Youwill not be charged for any parts,material, or labor under thiswarranty. The decision to repair,rather than replace, any rustedbody panel will be made by Acura.

This Warranty Does Not Coven• Surface rust on the underbody

or any other part of the carexcept body panels.

• Rusting of body panels that wererepaired, replaced, or refinishedafter retail sale of the car, unless

those panels were repaired orreplaced under this warranty.

• Body panel rust caused byabuse, misuse, or lack ofmaintenance.

• Rusting where the paint hasbeen damaged by road hazardssuch as stones and debris.

• Rust caused by immersion ofthe body panel in water, mud, orsand; or resulting fromexposure to corrosive gas orindustrial fallout.

• Paint matching. (Acura reservesthe right to decide how much ofthe repaired or replaced panel,and any adjoining body panels,need to be repainted to matchthe original finish. Acura willnot, under any circumstances,authorize painting the entire carstrictly for the purpose of paintmatching.)

If the accessory wasinstalled by someone else, thecost of all parts to repair orreplace it are covered by Acura,but you must pay the labor costs.

Audio System ComponentExchange ProgramIf the audio system in your Acuradevelops a problem during thiswarranty period, telephone theService Department at yourAcura dealer. The service personwill ask you several questionsabout your car and the problem. Ifhe decides from this conversation

that the problem is in one of thesystem's major components(radio, CD player), he willimmediately order a replacementcomponent. This will take lessthan a week. You will then benotified to bring your car to thedealership so the audio systemcan be repaired. Telephoning yourdealer about an audio systemproblem allows him to service youmore efficiently and can save youan extra trip.

Acura may use factory-remanufactured audiocomponents rather than newcomponents for some warrantyrepairs. Those components, likenew components, are covered forthe remainder of the AccessoryLimited Warranty.

This Warranty Does Not Coven• Air conditioner refrigerant

charge after the first year,unless required as part of awarranty repair.

• Any accessory installed on anAcura other than the year ormodel it was designed to fit.

• Any accessory that isimproperly installed.

Replacement Parts Limited Warranty

This warranty applies only toautomobile replacement partsdistributed by American Hondathrough the Acura AutomobileDivision, and sold through anAcura automobile dealer in theUnited States, Puerto Rico, or theU.S. Virgin Islands.

Time and Mileage PeriodParts installed by an Acura dealerare covered for 1 year or 12,000miles, whichever comes first.Warranted parts purchased froman Acura dealer but installed bysomeone else are covered for 1year from the date of purchase.

Warranty CoverageAcura will repair or replace anypart covered by this warranty thatis defective in material orworkmanship under normal use. Ifthe part was originally installed byan Acura dealer, the repair orreplacement will be done with nocharge for parts or labor. If thepart was originally installed bysomeone else, the cost of thereplacement or repair is coveredby Acura, but you must pay allinstallation costs.

This Warranty Does Not Coven• Claims which do not include

documented proof of purchasedate, installation date, andvehicle mileage at the time ofinstallation.

Replacement Battery Limited Warranty

This warranty applies only toreplacement batteries purchasedfrom an Acura automobile dealerin the United States, Puerto Rico,or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Time and Mileage PeriodReplacement batteries are coveredby a 4 year limited warranty.

Warranty CoverageDuring the first year of service, adefective replacement battery willbe replaced at no cost for the newbattery, labor, or installation.

After the first year, you willreceive a credit toward thepurchase of a new battery. Thiscredit is calculated by dividing thecurrent suggested retail price by48; then multiplying by thenumber of months left in thiswarranty coverage. No cashreimbursement will be made. Youare responsible for the labor orinstallation charges.

Replacement Muffler Lifetime Limited Warranty

Time and Mileage PeriodThe Acura automobilereplacement muffler is warrantedagainst defects in material andworkmanship for as long as thatmuffler's purchaser owns the caron which it is installed.

If the warranted muffler fails dueto a defect, Acura will exchange it.You must have proof of purchasefor the failed muffler. If the mufflerwas originally installed by anAcura dealer, the cost of labor forremoval and replacement is alsocovered by this warranty.

This Warranty Does Not Coven• Labor cost for removal and

replacement if the defectivemuffler was not originallyinstalled by an Acura dealer.

Operation and Maintenance of Your Acura

By keeping your Acura in topcondition, you will be rewardedwith years of trouble-free serviceat the lowest operating cost. Thekeys to keeping your Acura in topcondition are proper operationand regular maintenance.

Proper OperationYour Acura is designed for use asa passenger car. You should use itto transport people and theirluggage on regular roads andhighways. Several things youshould do to take care of yourAcura are:

• Avoid exceeding your car's loadlimit. This puts excess strain onthe engine, brakes, and severalother systems in your car. Referto the Owner's Manual to findthe location of the Load Limitlabel on your car.

• Operate your Acura onreasonable roads within thelegal speed limit.

• Drive your Acura regularly overa distance of several miles. Likea person, a car functions betterwith regular exercise.

• Always use an unleadedgasoline of the proper OctaneNumber (Anti-Knock Index). Seeyour Owner's Manual for moreinformation.

MaintenanceYou should check the engine oiland radiator coolant levels eachtime you fill the gas tank. Thisprotects the vital systems of yourAcura, and may help you discoverpotential problems.

Always maintain your 1996 Acuraaccording to the MaintenanceSchedule in your Owner's Manual.The time and mileage intervalsgiven in this Schedule forinspections and replacementsshould never be exceeded. Theyare essential to trouble-freeoperation. Parts that foil becausethey did not get proper, timelymaintenance are not covered bywarranty. However, if a part failsdue to a defect in material orworkmanship, the warranty claimwill not be denied because ofimproper maintenance oroperation.

Operation and Maintenance of Your Acura

The people at your Acura dealerare fully trained and equipped toefficiently perform scheduledmaintenance on your 1996 Acura.However, service at the dealer isnot mandatory for continuedwarranty coverage. You can havescheduled maintenance donesomewhere other than your Acuradealer, or you can do themaintenance yourself.

If you regularly take your car tothe Acura dealer for scheduledmaintenance, he will know itshistory if you need to make awarranty claim. If someone elsehas been performing themaintenance, the dealer may askfor evidence that you haveproperly maintained the car. Thisevidence may consist of one ormore of the following:

• A Maintenance Record (such asthe one in the Owner's Manual)showing the odometer mileageand date for each service. Eachentry in this Record should besigned by a person who isqualified to serviceautomobiles.

• Copies of repair orders or otherreceipts that include theodometer mileage and date thatthe car was serviced. Eachreceipt should be signed by aqualified automotive servicetechnician.

• A statement that you completedthe maintenance yourself,showing the odometer mileageand date you did the work.Receipts for the replacementparts (fluids, filters, etc.) shouldaccompany this statement.

NOTE: As an aid for the nextowner, keep all maintenancereceipts with the car if it is sold.

How to Get Warranty Service

You should take your car, alongwith proof of purchase date, to anAcura automobile dealer duringhis normal service hours. If yourwarranty claim is for areplacement part or accessorythat was originally installed by anAcura dealer, take along proof ofthe car's mileage at the time ofinstallation.

Emergency RepairsAcura recognizes that your carcould develop a serious problemneeding immediate repair at afacility other than an Acura dealer.

Acura will reimburse you for therepair if:

• The repair would normally becovered by one of thewarranties in this booklet.

and• All Acura dealers within 50

miles of the break-down wereclosed at the time, or there wereno Acura dealers within 50miles.

and• The car was immobile, or

attempting to drive the carwould cause further damage orbe unsafe.

For reimbursement, go to anyAcura automobile dealer. Youmust show a copy of the paidreceipt, and the replaced part(s).The dealer will reimburse you for

the parts at the currentmanufacturer's suggested retailprice; and you will be reimbursedfor labor at a geographically-appropriate labor rate for Acura'srecommended time allowance.

How to Get Warranty Service

Leaded fuel can cause damage toyour car's emissions controls thatwould not be covered underwarranty. You should determine inadvance if unleaded fuel isavailable in the areas you intendto visit.

Relocating Outsidethe United StatesAny vehicle purchased from anauthorized Acura dealer in thiscountry is manufactured to meetU.S. government safety andemissions specifications. Othercountries not only marketdifferent Acura models, they alsohave their own safety andemissions standards that differfrom U.S. requirements.

If you plan to export your car toanother country and register it

there, we recommend that youcontact the vehicle import agencyin that country to determine therequirements. American Hondadoes not have this information.

Be advised that modifications toyour car to meet anothercountry's requirements may bevery expensive and, in somecases, impossible to perform.Parts to modify a vehicle to meetforeign specifications are notavailable in the U.S.

Getting your vehicle serviced inanother country may be difficult,even if you take it to an Acuradealer. Because that country mayhave models with differentequipment and specifications, thedealer may not have parts that aresuitable for your U.S. vehicle.

Warranty CoverageOutside the United StatesThe warranties in this bookletcover only Acuras purchased andregistered in the United States,Puerto Rico, and the U.S. VirginIslands. Acuras registered andnormally driven in other countriesare not covered.
