Senior Resource Fair“Living Longer, Growing Stronger in San Leandro”

Friday • September 14 • 10:00am - 1:00pm

Information-packed day with resource and informationbooths, educational presentations, free health checks andmuch more! Open to anyone interested in issuessurrounding seniors. Community Resource Vendorapplications available July 5 at the Senior CommunityCenter, Marina Community Center, and City Hall SouthOffices. For questions, call 577-3462.

With concerns about youth detachmentfrom outdoor activities, lack of physicalexercise and increased health risks, theCalifornia Roundtable on Recreation,Parks and Tourism adopted theCalifornia Children’s Outdoor Bill ofRights for the purpose of recommendinga fundamental list of experiences thatevery child in California would benefitfrom experiencing, before entering highschool. Numerous studies documentthat children who do these things are

healthier, do better in school, have better social skills andself-image, and lead more fulfilled lives.

Every child should have the opportunity to:

Discover California’s past • Splash in the water

Play in a safe place • Camp under the stars

Explore nature • Learn to swim • Play on a team

Follow a trail • Catch a fish • Celebrate their heritage

To show our support of the California Children’s Outdoor Billof Rights, this July (Parks & Recreation Month throughoutCalifornia) ourYouth Sports, Summer/Day Camps, and Aquaticprograms are offering youth and their families opportunitiesto spend time outdoors. We hope each of you will make aspecial effort to do something outside with your children.
