Munchkin CampsfOr girlS AND BOyS eNteriNg grADeS Pk & Jk

Note: Campers must be 3 years of age by June 1, 2015

this unique experience for our youngest campers will be filled with many of the same fun activities as the big day camp but scheduled at their own pace. munchkins learn through art, music, free-play, and storytelling: campers will enjoy water play but will not go swimming. each week has a different theme and special activity on friday.

Offered weeks 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 & 10

Schedule: monday – friday 9:00 a.m. – noon

Cost: $150 each week (early-bird special: $125 before may 1, 2015)

every day is loaded with fun adventures from exploring nature, creating tasty treats, playing field games, cooling off with water play, and splashing in the pool. Whatever the activity, campers will delight in discovering new and exciting experiences and making new friends. each camper belongs to a core group assigned by grade level that travels to activities with songs and smiles along the way. snacks are provided, but campers will need to bring a sack lunch each day. this camp is staffed with certified lifeguards who ensure safety at the pool, trained activities leaders who keep campers smiling with new projects, and group leaders whom campers remember for years to come. each week of camp has a different theme and special activity on friday.

st. mary’s offers a variety of options for parents in need of extended care or Before & after care during select summer programs at an additional cost. Registration is required for all extended care, before and after care options.

Early Care

7:30 – 9:00 a.m. for $25 per week.

After Care

3:00 – 5:30 p.m. for $40 per week.

this summer we are excited to offer a half-day camp option. campers will join our core groups of full day campers for the morning or afternoon and participate in all the fun activities offered in these fun filled weeks. campers will make crafts, go swimming, play games, cook a tasty treat, and much more as we celebrate a different theme each week.

Schedule: monday – friday 9:00 a.m. to noon or noon – 3:00 p.m.

can’t be with us for the entire week?

st. mary’s is glad to have your child spend the day with us at camp. campers will join in with our existing camps for a day of fun at the pool, making crafts, playing games and everything else that our campers get to experience during the week. space is limited and registrations must take place at least three camp days before attending. contact the pursuits office at 537-1415 for details.

elves in the summer have work that must be done, so when christmas time comes, elves can play and sing and run! come join in the fun with carols, cookies, and crafts. We’ll have a great time and wear our santa hats! snow globes with lots of glitter, decorating cookies, too! We will sing lots of christmas songs, Oh so much to do!

Grab your doll and let’s have some fun! Join us for an exciting week of history, cooking, and crafting. each day we will talk about a different doll and the historical events of her story. You don’t want to miss learning about Kaya and her horse, steps High, who lived in 1764, and samantha’s life growing up in new York in 1902! each day will be packed with new adventures as you relive history as an american Girl!

Hawaii will be the next stop with former Girl of the Year Kanani. the week will be full of yummy treats and exciting activities. You don’t want to miss this amazing week of learning!!

let’s see how creative we can get with a little (or a lot) of mod podge! We will begin the week Googling and pintersting projects made with mod podge. We’ll explore the history of decoupage and learn the basics by creating some simple projects (fancy note book, photo on canvas, magnetic chalkboard and magnets, mason jar lanterns, glitter clothespins, and silhouette pendants). each girl will be able to choose one more in-depth individual project, make a plan, and complete it during the week.

Books & Bricks (Literature meets LEGO)fOr girlS AND BOyS eNteriNg Pk – JkBring your books to life with lego creations! imaginations will soar as campers combine their favorite story book with their love for legos. each day of camp will bring new and exciting adventures as we explore different themes such as building custom playgrounds, life on a farm, and custom car creations.this camp encourages your child’s interest in reading, while facilitating creative building, and enhancing fine motor skills. each daily theme will be reinforced with not only legos and books, but also crafts, music, ipads, and more! What could be better than combining your child’s love of reading and legos into one seRiOuslY aWesOme camp? let’s get building!!!

Nature’s CreationsfOr girlS AND BOyS eNteriNg grADeS 1 - 4

let’s use nature’s treasures to construct! during this camp, we will unravel the secrets of natural items and use them to create a magical land for miniature creatures to live. We will identify different seeds, leaves, galls, moss, and rocks and then study them by dissecting and magnifying them with a proscope. after studying the natural item they will be used to create interesting creations. a Gall becomes a bathtub, an oak leaf becomes a bed, moss becomes a plush carpet, and an acorn becomes a chair. a cicada exoskeleton can even serve as a vehicle! the possibilities are endless as you use your imagination to create a miniature world to take home!

Minecraft Mechanisms fOr girlS AND BOyS eNteriNg grADeS Sk – 2ND

take your minecrafting to the next level through engineering! this course introduces students to the power of Redstone, the foundation of all advanced technology in minecraft®. using motors, pistons, switches and diodes, students build an exciting variety of useful devices, including cobblestone generators, farming machines, devious traps, and powerful tnt cannons. students take their virtual creations home on cds (for mac and pc only) at the end of class. ideal for students with basic minecraft® experience, but new players are welcome.

Join us for adventures with the alphabet as we paint, sing, and craft our way to a better understanding of these wacky creatures! We’ll create our own book from a–Z and finish off with alphabet treats! numbers have gotten a bad rap! it’s time to tackle those wild and crazy numbers and show them who is in charge! through games, manipulatives, and computers, we’ll learn how much fun numbers really can be. this course offers a helpful transition from summer play to school days.

Fine Motor FunfOr girlS AND BOyS eNteriNg grADeS Pk – Sk

Join us for a week of fun fine motor activities. We will cut, color, and create a variety of wonderful activities and projects reinforcing fine motor skills. campers will create fun experiments to help strengthen fine motor control, along with practicing pencil grip, scissor control, tracing names, self-portraits, games, and much much more! students will come home with activities they can enjoy all summer long! all activities are differentiated depending on students’ ages/abilities.

D is for Dinosaur DigfOr girlS AND BOyS eNteriNg Pk - JkBeginning paleontologists learn about dinosaurs and the techniques used in extracting fossils in this hands-on class. Go on your own fossil dig, analyze and assemble skeleton pieces, produce a fossil reconstruction, create a mural, use ipads to learn more about dinosaurs, and take home lots of cool dinosaur daily projects!

this class is all about getting your daughter ready for a magical year at st. mary’s. each day students in the class of 2026 will review reading, writing, phonics, and math skills as well as catch a glimpse into the special activities that await only our special second grade students. american Girl doll felicity will stop by and tell us a little bit about her special day in november, and we will have lots of fun with friends as we get ready for another amazing year at st. mary’s lower school!

start next year off right by mastering math fun-damentals! We will work on building number sense, operations, measurement, geometry, and more in fun and exciting ways. this class will use manipulatives and games to build a strong foundation for math success in the coming year.

READING WORKSHOPThe summer reading workshop is proud to present Book Buddies, a unique, research-based reading pro-gram that can meet the needs of the emergent reader needing remediation as well as the independent, fluent reader seeking enrichment.

this summer all-sports camp goes “old school” with some favorite activities plus adds a new twist on introducing students to life-long fitness opportunities! each morning will begin with a dynamic fitness routine and each afternoon will end with campers playing on scooters and with hula-hoops. this camp provides a fun and competitive instructional environment for learning the game of basketball. the basic offensive and defensive fundamentals will be emphasized, both in teaching situations and within the framework of games and contests. Joining the coaches will be other st. mary’s coaches and players during the camp. all campers must bring a water bottle and healthy snack each day.

this camp is an awesome way for your young sports enthusiasts to be introduced to “dribbling” both in soccer and in basketball. focusing on the very basic skills while emphasizing teamwork will be the two main goals of this camp. each participant will receive a camp certificate upon completion. please wear tennis shoes and shin guards. Bring a #3 or #4 soccer ball and a water bottle.

at this camp, players will be taught the game of soccer in a nurturing and fun, yet challenging environment. players will experience components from the four pillars of the game of soccer (technical, tactical, physical, psychological) with the main emphasis on developing the individual player.  We will cover agility, balance, 1v1 attacking moves, passing, shielding, and shooting.  the last part of

each day, players will participate in small sided games, and prizes will be awarded for campers of the week. campers should bring a soccer ball, shin guards, water, and towel each day.  all participants receive a camp t-shirt.

tennis tots is perfect for children who either have expressed an interest in tennis or already know the basics and want to continue learning more about this life-long sport. Our camps accommodate children of all ages and levels of ability. We teach campers proper footwork, racquet handling, and the required body mechanics, in addition to other fundamental skills required for this sport. We provide all the equipment needed (racquets, balls, etc.) and pop-up nets that allow for indoor play. this camp is fun and exciting for the children while at the same time promoting self-esteem, sports etiquette, and the benefits of exercise. campers will engage in drills, games, and relays which allow for all campers to participate. campers should wear tennis shoes or non-skid shoes to camp each day.
