Each year, REACH works with local camp providers to bring information and special discounts to youth living in REACH housing. This is a guide to many affordable options for summer activities for your child, from day camps to overnight camps. To help you get the information as soon as it is available, we will be posting updated information on our website as soon as it is available. THIS DOCUMENT will be updated regularly, so please check back for a newer version often! Apply to camps as early as possible – the earlier you apply, the more likely you are to reserve a spot and the more money you are likely to receive in financial assistance. Note: REACH is not affiliated with, nor do we endorse any camps. This guide is informational, and you should do your own research to find the camps that are best suited for your children. Description It is the mission of the Friends of Tryon Creek’s Nature Day Camp to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to be themselves and to make meaningful connections with others and with the natural world. Description Who: K-5 students from any school who enjoy the outdoors, food and fun. There are spots for 20 kids each week. The teachers are Growing Gardens staff educators with years of experience using school gardens to inspire young minds. Rosenbaum Portland Youth Camp

Description Camp Rosenbaum is proud to partner with Portland Police Bureau and other community members to host the annual Rosenbaum Portland Youth Camp. The camp is for boys and girls, ages 8-14, who live in the Portland metro area. Campers participate in one activity for the week, and each activity includes a coach from the Portland Police Bureau, Gresham Police Department and other organizations, giving kids a chance to get to know the officers who keep their community safe. The day camp is for one week in June, and runs from about 9:00am to 3:00pm each day. Typical available activities include baseball, basketball, bowling, cheerleading/dance, football, martial arts, soccer, tennis, volleyball, archery, arts and crafts, crazy science, hiking/fishing, and journalism.

Description Professional staff members guide children in exploring and discovering the wonders of the zoo through hands-on experiences and fun learning. All Zoo Camps include tours of the entire zoo, animal visits, songs, art projects, Wild Life shows, hands-on learning activities, stories, and snacks. Half-day and full-day options are available.

Description An enriching summer day camp for children entering first through sixth grades. Weekly curriculum and field trips are based on weekly themes – Music, Swimming, Puppetry, Outdoors, and more – with classes led by our talented staff and visiting educators. Camp activities take place in an around the Friendly House Campus, a beautiful, kid-friendly facility.

Description At Camp Collins, campers are given a fun, safe, and supportive environment in which to learn and explore, while embracing the YMCA core values of love, respect, honesty, responsibility and service. Every day at Camp Collins is an exciting outdoor adventure, where campers build confidence, make friends, have fun, learn and play together. Our professionally trained counselors and support staff encourage campers to try a variety of skill-building activities such as swimming, rock climbing, horseback riding, and so much more.

Description SUN Community Schools are a collaboration between Multnomah County Department of School, Portland Parks & Recreation, and Centennial, Reynolds, Parkrose, David Douglas, Gresham-Barlow, and Portland Public School Districts. Eleven sites are operated by PP&R. Critical components of the program include education, social services, multicultural and cultural arts, recreation and leisure services, health services, and community involvement.

Camp SCRAP is centered on themes of creative reuse and making the most of your materials. This camp is for kids who LOVE inventing, making, planning, and bringing their creative ideas to life!

provides young people with the chance to experiment with and learn about media arts and technology from experienced teaching artists. Kids and teens provide the ideas and bring them to fruition!

Description Do Jump! Physical Theatre School teaches classes in creative movement, physical theater, acrobatics, partner acrobatics, trapeze, aerial dance, and juggling for ages 1-100. Most of our kids’ classes are “circus skills” classes, a general overview class for beginning and intermediate level students interested in physical theater, trapeze and acrobatics. We also offer intermediate and advanced classes for kids, a full range of aerial and acrobatics classes for adults and teens, and Baby Circus

Classes for ages 1-3. Our focus is to encourage physical confidence, freedom, and grace in a creative and non-competitive atmosphere. Students explore their own imaginations while working together to explore the craft of ensemble physical theater performing and aerial dance. More detailed class descriptions available online.

call the Do Jump! office. The scholarship application will ask you for your preference of classes, so be sure you have your choice(s) picked out. You will be contacted by Do Jump! to schedule your class if space and funding is available. Most scholarships reduce tuition by 50%, although more is possible.
Building Girls Day Camp

Description Building Girls Camp is a program run by Oregon Tradeswomen, Inc., an organization dedicated to promoting success for women in the trades through education, leadership, and mentorship. During the Building Girls high school camp, girls will learn how to build a shed, use power tools, weld, tile, go on field trips and much more. Middle school girls will install trim on the shed, paint the shed, go on field trips, weld, tile, and a variety of other fun activities. The program is held at the University of Portland in North Portland.

Metro Arts Kids Camp
Cost $225-275/week. Multiple week discounts available with use of promo codes during online registration. Kids are invited to join for one, two (save 25%), three (save 30%), or four (save 35%) weeks of camp. Up to 100% financial assistance available.

music, dance, theater, and visual arts – for one or two weeks at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts. Kids crank up their creativity through hands-on activities involving each art form and also enjoy live performances, video demonstrations, and classes taught by professional musicians, dancers, actors, and visual artists.

Financial Assistance MetroArts is committed to meeting the full financial needs of all interested families. Financial assistance is determined by 2016 estimated income, number of family members, and participation in Free/Reduced Lunch program. Scholarship application is available here and must be printed out and mailed or faxed in, along with a copy of Free and Reduced Lunch Eligibility Form or a note explaining your financial situation.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls
Cost $400, scholarships may be available Ages 8-17 years old

and band practice, where they write original songs. The showcase performance is held at a local music venue Saturday evening. No musical experience is necessary! Girls of all skill levels can take lessons on guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, vocals or learn about DJing, MCing, and beat producing. Play rock, punk, hip-hop, country, pop, indie, lounge, blues, reggae, jazz, ska, metal, experimental, hardcore, R & B, screamo, alternative, classic, or any other musical genre you can think of! Attend workshops like zine making, self-defense, songwriting, screen printing, positive self-image, and more!

Science Camps offer the perfect combination of science, adventure, activity, and treasured summer camp traditions. It’s a perfect way to gain outdoor skills and develop an enthusiasm for lifelong learning, as well as curiosity and respect for the natural world. Oregon College of Art and Craft

camps, with each week offering children an introduction to four different art mediums on OCAC’s lovely ten-acre campus. Under the instruction of professional artists and arts educators, students work with high quality art materials to sculpt, paint, stitch, build, felt, and print their imaginings. Art Adventures Youth Day Camp is the perfect place to cultivate your child’s innate creativity this summer; allowing them to learn new skills, make new friends, and discover the arts in an outdoor environment just minutes from downtown Portland. At the end of the week, we welcome family and friends to come to campus for our Friday Art Show, where your young artist(s) can show off their work.
