Dear Parents,
The following are some early first grade level books that your children should be
able to read with little to no guidance. They can be checked out from the local
public library. Please have your children choose some of them to read
independently before the beginning of the school year to reinforce continuity,
fluency, accuracy, and comprehension. Of course, you are not limited to only
the books on this list. Please allow your children to choose books that are of
interest to them. Complete the attached reading log to be turned in to your
children’s first grade English teacher within the first 2 weeks of school in the fall.
