Beep beep! Beep beep! Beeeeeep! Beeeeeeeeep!
Jeepneys, cars and buses were honking impatienty in the main road. t was summer.
"he air was humid and the smoke coming #rom the $ehices can be smeed. Beside the main
road, there was a restaurant #u o# peope, mosty #amiies who were aready eating their dinner.
%eanwhie, a chid not oder than &' was waking beside the restaurant. "here were many
peope who were eating but something caught his eye. (e watched the #amiy, happiy eating
their meas, the young ones aready #inished with theirs were aready paying hide and seek
under the tabes) the #ather gi$ing his own piece o# chicken to his oder son. What a happy and
warm family!"he chid thought, #or he ne$er e*perienced such. I wish it could happen to me too.
I wish I had this kind of family.(is heart was #u o# hope as his stomach growed. (e hasn+t
eaten anything since past three days. "heir Boss took a o# his money he got #rom begging
#rom peope he didn+t know #rom the streets. es, they were many, most were his age, and
probaby star$ing right now, ike him. (e went to the nearby pa$ement near the door where ess
peope wak but ne$er ose his sight to the #amiy eating at the restaurant. (e ooked at them
one more time.
How good could it be to have such a happy family? How I wish that my mother and father have
never left me. How I wish that my brother and sister never got sick. How I wish that I was able
to go to school, learn new things, meet other friends and play with them. How I wish that I have
the chance to eat such delicious food, even a little bit, a taste of it would be very nice. How I
wish I have the money to soothe my aching stomach, he thought o$er and o$er. (e #et reie$edas he watched them. -t ast, he was abe to tame his growing stomach.
(e woke up to a sudden noise somewhere near him. "here was a woman+s $oice taking with a
man+s. t was morning. (e #et the summer+s heat piercing his skin. (e was gad enough that he
passed through the night without eating anything. hen he opened his eyes, he was con#used
o# his surroundings.
(oney, at ast you+re awake. e+re amost there! the woman tod him as she shook his
shouders a itte to wake him up.
%om/ he didn+t know what to say. She was carrying a young gir and the young boy at
her side was paying with his botte #u o# mik.
0# course, my son. ou+re such a cute boy. (is mother smied to him whie she pinched
his cheek ighty. -h %om, where are we going/ he sti didn+t know what happened. "o the
restaurant, you tod me you want to go there a#ter we went to church.

-t that moment, he ooked through their car+s window. "heir car passed to the restaurant
where he was ast night. here he thought he was. (e sti coudn+t beie$e that he was with his
#amiy) it was ike ast night was 1ust a dream. If this was dreaming was like, I might never want
to wake up again,he thought. (e kept thinking o# the paces they might go to, ike ha$ing a
picnic on the park and paying with his younger brother and sister. "heir car parked at the
nearby parking ot across the restaurant. "hey #inay entered the restaurant #ied with di##erent
peope, eating, taking, aughing, a seemed happy and noisy, but he was so deighted to hear
and see them. (is parents aready picked their tabe and soon, they were ready to order. (e sat
beside his #ather whie both o# his younger sibings were beside his mother opposite them.
Soon, their #ood arri$ed and he was so happy that it was a his #a$orites! Spaghetti pasta, #ried
chicken, hamburger and appe pie. (e ate heartiy ike he ne$er had eaten his whoe i#e.
Sowy, son. ou+ hurt the chicken. (is #ather 1oked whie gi$ing his own piece o#
chicken to him, smiing. Both o# them aughed, and his mother 1oined in too. (e was so happy
that he coud cry any moment. -t that thought, he reai2ed he coudn+t cry because his mother
might get worried so he 1ust continued to eat his #ood. (owe$er, whie he was eating, he ooked
back to where the restaurant door is, and he saw a arge commotion outside. (e wanted to go
