Masses for the Week

STEWARDSHIP - Week of June 15 & 16

Week 51/52 Adult Envelopes (134 used) $8,433.00 Automatic Envelopes (64 used) 5,605.00 Youth 12.63 Loose Stewardship 836.25

Total Stewardship this week $14,886.88

YTD $719,914.41 Budget YTD $746,757.69 Last YTD $760,278.17

5% Tithe this week $744.34 YTD Tithe $35,995.72

You will notice in the column to the left with the Mass schedule that we have no weekday Masses sched-uled for this week. This is due to Vacation Bible School for the children. They use the Church each day for their pro-grams and in case of rain. If we have Mass then they have to remove all of their decorations, posters, projector, and items which becomes a lot of work to tear down and set up again. So for one week of the year, we the older ones, are sacrificing for the sake of our younger members.

With the end of June we come to the end of anoth-er quarter of the parish fiscal year. That means it is time once again to make the distributions from the Deacon George Social Justice Fund (i.e., parish tithe). If you wish to nominate an organization to receive a grant, remember that the organization must be involved in the works of so-cial justice, and cannot be involved in any activities that are contrary to the teachings or practice of the Roman Catholic Church. Nomination forms can be found on the parish web site, in the stewardship tower in the narthex of the Church, or you can contact Lori in the Parish Office and she can send one to you by email or US Postal mail. The parish tithe is our way of constantly remembering that charity is of the essence of who we claim to be as followers of Christ. Our practice of the parish tithe is that 5% of the donations to the weekend collections go to the Deacon George Social Justice Fund to remind us of our need to do the works of charity not as something extra but to help us give witness to that fact that in everything that we do we remember to care for the poor. The following I share with you: “Dear Father Darling, Thank you for your recent donation of $2,500 from your Parish’s Deacon George Social Justice Fund. Your gift may have saved a life! Every day at Catherine’s Healthcare, we carefully check personal health histories and review key medical signs for heart disease, cancer, diabetes and more. Many of our patients lack health education and resources, and so they routinely avoid self-checks, delay medical care, and visit a medical provider only when they can no longer ig-nore the warming signs. And that’s where your gift comes in. Every patient who visits us for the first time gets a thorough health check. It’s not unusual for us to identify conditions that have been eroding health for a long time. Sometimes, lives are at stake. Thanks to your gift, we can identify health problems in time to offer positive changes that improve the quality of life—often to change critical outcomes. Thank you for your partnership in this work, Karen Kaashoek, Executive Director”

Summer Tithing Now that summer is here and many of you will be away on vacation, have you remembered to drop off your contribution envelopes? If not, automatic giving might be a good solution for you. You can make your weekly or monthly Parish con-tribution via an automatic deduction from your checking or savings ac-count. You can find a form in the stewardship tower in the narthex, in the Parish Office or on our website. Fill out the form and return it to the Parish office by mail, hand deliver it, or you can drop it in the collection basket at Mass on the weekend.
