If you want to learn to play a musical instrument, brush up on your playing skills, get some coaching, prepare for an upcoming audition or learn music theory, you can enjoy private instruction from our formidable SAM faculty from June 11th – August 17th. For the last 18 years our flexible summer scheduling has assisted students in achieving commendable progress while taking advantage of all the beauty in and around the New Hampshire Seacoast area. Eight Tuesdays 6:00 PM -7:00 PM(June 11th, 18th, 25th, July 9th,16th, 23rd, 30th, and August 6th).

SAM will be launching a studentRock band this Summer called“SAM Rocks! Band”. In thisprogram, students from ages 10through adults will rock out usingskills they have tried out on their own

or learned in their private lessons. Most importantly, they will learn how tocommunicate and work with other musicians through the performance of standard andfamiliar rock and pop songs and they will gain knowledge and confidence to form theirown Rock groups. Jake recently ran a pilot Rock Band in our Satellite SchoolProgram with great results! All instruments are welcome, including vocalists! Studentsthat join as instrumentalists may also join in on vocals if they wish.

Ages 10 through adult – need one-year lessons or playing experience to join.

12th).

Must have 2+ years privatelesson/playing experience on

Guitar, Bass, Saxophone, Flute,Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Drums,

and/or Keyboards.

This ensemble, in its 8th year, haslaunched numerous amateur Jazz

players into the next level ofmusicianship! Members reads through

great charts from the standard jazzrepertoire and performs around the

Seacoast Area. Members will continueworking with chord progressions, jazz

harmonies, improvisation and learnhow to play creative and tasteful jazzsolos while developing solid ensemble

chops.

Thursdays 5:40 PM – 6:30 PM (June13th, 20th, 27th, July 11th, 18th, 25th,

This is a carefully crafted introductoryexploration of sound and musical

instrument class for young children ages 4– 6 with their adult companions (parent,

grand-parent, care-giver) by ournurturing and experienced teaching team.

Each class will begin with a welcominggroup song and musical response activityfor the children and adults followed bytime to have fun exploring how to playthe ukulele, piano and/or violin. Each

class concludes with a calming story andsong…….*decrescendo: to gradually get

softer.

over the summer, and then bring it in totry out at the first class on August 13th.

You will receive vocal, diction, andinterpretive coaching, encouraging you

to deepen your knowledge andcomfort level with your chosen song.

The second session on August 15thwill complete the coaching experience,followed by a performance showcasethat gives every participant the chance

to put what they’ve learned intopractice.

Instructor Deborah Rentz-Moore has25 years of experience as a performerand teacher who has made a vibrantcareer melding folk sensibilities with

classical and early music. Herrecordings of Bach, early American

Structured as a coaching-master class-performance experience, students will

learn how to take a folk song frombasic familiarity to performance-level in

just two sessions.

In advance of the first session, allparticipants are asked to purchase Hal

Leonard’s“15 Easy Folk Song Arrangements”

in either:High Key (for sopranos and tenors)

or Low Key (for mezzos and

baritone/basses)

This folk song edition is available withaudio access to a pre-recorded

accompaniment and pro singer tracksto aid in preparation. (The edition is
