Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory – or suffer the consequences.

One magical summer, Sandy meets Danny Zuko at the beach and falls in love. When summer ends and she has to return home, she is heartbroken. But fate lends a hand -- her parents decide to move and she finds herself attending the same school as Danny. But Danny at school is different from Danny at the beach. He is the leader of the T-Birds, a black leather-clad gang, and has a reputation to keep up. He can’t be seen to fall in love with just one chick! Sandy is upset and seeks solace with some new friends she has made - a girls’ club called The Pink Ladies. But her prim and proper ways do not fit in and she soon finds herself almost alone. A change must be made. Does she attempt to get her man by turning him into a jock? Or must she get rid of her “Sandra Dee” Image?

Alice plunges down the rabbit hole and becomes involved in that madcap and deliciously satiric series of adventures immortalized by Lewis Carroll. A kaleidoscope of action and madness, with the necessary elements of suspense and frustration to make it all work. The journey of Alice through the looking glass to the land of bizarre characters and strange “pretzel-logic” is retold in this ingenious adaptation with a great sense of farce and a loving touch of humanity.

and discussions taught by the entire DRAMA at The Rose professional staff. It is for committed, intermediate-to-advanced students only and covers the topics of actor training, stage combat, improvisation, movement for actors, vocal diction and projection, playwriting, directing, scenography (sets, lights, costumes, sound, and make-up), dancing, and singing.

This year, Conservatory will be exploring Eastern Theater techniques from Japan, Indonesia, and India. They will be performing in the world premiere adaptation of three Balinese folktales developed specifically for the conservatory performance ensemble, in which they will be utilizing shadow puppets, performing traditional dance as well as creating the musical landscape of our stories.

Scripts included in the production were written by local teen playwright Paige Wolfe and two Rose teaching artists, Kendra Ball and Stephanie Jacobson.

Students do all the acting in these multi-week, fully-staged and rehearsed theater productions. Students learn about acting, improvisation, and working together as an ensemble. There are sets, lights, costumes, and lines to memorize! We have chosen scripts because of their balanced distribution of roles. Tuition covers the class, four show tickets, and a souvenir t-shirt. (No classes Wednesday, July 4, 2018.)

Class Code #9-DBAR-905If Tweens Ran the World Ages 10-14Dates: June 25 - July 14 (M-F) (No class July 4th) Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pmLocation: Rose Theater DowntownTuition: $325Performances: July 13 (5:30 pm) and July 14 (2 pm) In the Hitchcock Theater

No screen time until homework is done. You can’t drive until you’re 16. Dress codes at school. Adults make all the rules and tweens are forced to follow them. What if tweens ran the world? In a world that wants tweens to only FOLLOW the rules, we are going to imagine what a world where we create our own rules. In this play production all of the scenes, characters, and dialogue will be created by the cast! Do you want to create your own scenes through improvisation and writing? Join this camp that concludes with an hour long fully-rehearsed show performed and created by you!

It is a brisk fall day in London in 1872 when the wealthy Phileas Fogg, a gentleman who lives his life with mathematical precision, gets into a spirited debate over a game of cards at his favorite gathering spot, The Reform Club: with the announcement that a new railway has just been completed in India, could a modern traveler make it all the way around the world in just 80 days? Mr. Fogg insists he can! And he soon finds himself -- with his newly hired manservant Passepartout -- racing his way across the globe to win a big bet...or lose his entire fortune! But just at the time of his departure, the Bank of London has been robbed! And a determined Detective Fix from Scotland Yard is certain Fogg is the thief and on the run. Over land and sea, by rail and boat and even by elephant, encountering danger and drama at every turn, will our intrepid travelers manage to keep their itinerary and win their wager? Or will the dogged Detective Fix find and arrest his number one suspect in a foreign port, and stop them from completing their triumphant return to The Reform Club in time? With colorful comedic characters, exciting and extreme expeditions, and a spectacular steampunk sensibility, this is one rollicking roadtrip no young actor will want to miss!
