Early Literacy Storytime

Question 1. Who did you serve, and what did you accomplished?

As a 11 grade student with St. Augustine High School, I worked with the non profit Early Literacy Storytime Summer Enrichment program.

I worked with the pre-K four participants; during the seven week program they we be able to: identify letters, print awareness, make letter-sound matches, phonological awareness, made attempts to read and write using known letters to represent written language.

Other accomplishments included mathematical process skills; 1. problem solving, 2. reasoning, 3. connection which involves linking new learning to previous experience, and 4. representation which help children solve problems explaining there reasoning.

Question 2 What is your team’s plan for ongoing

relationship with the non-profit? The team plan to work this upcoming

summer with Early Literacy Storytime Summer Enrichment Program and/ or other services

Question 3 What would your non-profit do if they

won part of the prize money? The non profit will provide supplies and

computer equipment along with software to enhance the participant skills.
