Hall of Fame: Everyone’s a VIP Only the very best make the Hall of Fame. The heroes. The leg-ends of the game. At least, that’s the way the world usually works, but God doesn’t treat us that way. We’re ALL important to him. To Him, everyone is a VIP! What if we actually treated each other that way? What is we chose to show honor? What if we let people know with our actions, that we see how valuable they really are?

Honor is letting someone know you see how valuable they really are. All people have value because they were created in God’s image. God values each of us so much that He sent Jesus to make it possible for us to have a forever relationship with Him. We follow God’s example when we show others that they have val-ue, too.

In October, our children’s ministry team will be discussing with our kids the importance of HONOR: Let-ting someone know you see how valuable they really are.

The children will be learning more about trust by way of the following Bible stories:

David and Goliath: Honor others by giving them a chance. 1 Samuel 17

David and Jonathan: Honor others by putting them first. 1 Samuel 18:1-11; 19:1-7; 20:1-42 David and Mephibosheth: Honor others by keeping your promises. 2 Samuel 9:1-13 (Supporting: 2 Samuel 4:4) Daniel Is Thrown Into a Den of Lions: Honor God by giving Him credit. Daniel 6

On September 25, fifteen people completed the goal that the congregation set for 2019 at last years Charge Conference. The goal was simple and direct: a group of leaders will complete M3 (Moving from Maintenance to Missional) and make recommendations to the 2019 Charge Conference for one or two goals for the congregation to complete in 2020. The rec-ommendations were to be made based on the study and discernment of the group who participat-ed in M3. On November 20th @ 6:30 PM, the recommendations will be made to the Administra-tive Council and if supported, to the Charge Conference on December 8th. The first goal, Defining a Vision, will be presented by Toby Cunningham, Lay Member to the Annual Conference. Scripture tells us, “Where there is no vision, the people perish….” Prov-erbs 29:18. We are all now familiar with the mission of our church, putting our faith in action by making new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Churches often make decisions about ministry based on maintaining what has always been done. Defining our vision will give us a unified framework for “putting our faith in action” for 2020 and 2021. Vi-sion will enable our congregation to make decisions, evaluate programs, and become accounta-ble to the vision, our hope for our future. The second goal, the Worship Experience, will be presented by Judy Biggs, chairperson of the Worship Committee. “As goes worship, so goes everything else.” When people have good worship experiences, they are moved. They feel like they have experienced the presence of God. (10 Prescriptions for a Healthy Church, pg. 27-28) Good worship is measured by many criteria: hospitality, how we connect with guests, theology, music, style, congregational attitude, and the list could go on and on. Unfortunately, worship is often planned and implemented with the preference of the con-gregation in mind, rather than the mission and vision. Biblical worship glorifies God, not the preferences of the people. Biblical worship is planned with those outside the church in mind, not the regular attendees. Biblical worship seeks to connect with the un-churched and the lost in the community. Biblical worship is prayed up, planned, prepared, and implemented with care, be-cause the highest calling of the church is to make new disciples of Jesus Christ. Carrying out our mission requires we implement worship each week to the best of our ability. I would invite and encourage each one of you to attend the Administrative Council meet-ing. Revitalization is a “team process.” To become a pinnacle church in Panhandle we will all need to support the Vision. His…. Yours,

Pastor Quita
