Long, long ago, Sun, Moon, Rain andWind were fighting.

The trouble was that Sun wanted toshine the whole day. Moon wantedto shine her light every day. Rainwanted to rain every day, and Windwanted to blow every day. Theydidn’t want to give each other achance.

They decided to sit together andtalk about it.Sun asked Moon, "What do you dothat helps the earth?"Moon answered, "I shine at night sothat the animals can hunt."

Moon asked Rain, "What do you dothat helps the earth?"Rain answered, "I give the earthwater so that the trees and plantscan grow well. I give water foranimals to drink."

Rain asked Wind, "What do you dothat helps the earth?"Wind answered, "I sweep the earthclean. I scatter the rain over thewhole earth."

Wind asked Sun, "What do you dothat helps the earth?"Sun answered, "I give the earthlight and warmth, so that animalsand plants can live."

Sun, Moon, Rain and Wind listenedcarefully to each other.

Then Sun said, "It is true that eachof us helps the earth in our ownspecial way.""Yes, said Moon, "Not one of us isbetter than the others.""We can work together," said Rain.Wind said, "Then let us share thedays."They all agreed.

And that is why you sometimes seethe moon when the sun is shining.And sometimes you feel the windwhen it is raining.Sun, Moon, Rain and Wind workvery well together.They understand each other.
