SUNDAY: 20 DECEMBER: 4TH SUNDAY OF ADVENT FROM THE PASTOR Dear parishioners, In today’s gospel we hear about Mary’s visitation to her cousin Elizabeth. It’s a perfect gospel passage to meditate upon because Mary is pregnant with Jesus. As we prepare to celebrate Christmas it’s good to meditate on the fact that Mary carried Jesus for nine months. She was a true mother and knows what pregnant women go through. Let us wait with expectant faith like Mary did for the birth of Jesus. The office will close at 11:00am on Wednesday and will re-open on Monday. Christmas is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses are on Thursday, Christmas Eve at 4:00pm at Sacred Heart, 4:00pm at Belaire Cove, and 6:30pm at Sacred Heart. On Friday Christmas Day Masses are 7:00am at Sacred Heart, 8:30am at St. Joseph, and 10:00am at Sacred Heart. Also note on Thursday morning there will not be a 6:30am Mass. The Baby Bottle Campaign raised $2,889.01 for the Women’s Center in Lafayette, a pro-life organization. Thanks for your generosity. We have received the Diocese’s financial investigations of the parish and school, which is done whenever there is a change of administration. Both reports were good and only suggested some procedural improvements. Thanks to all past administration for being such good financial stewards. Whenever entering and leaving the sanctuary please do not step on the lip of the brown tiles as it will crack them. Lay ministers of Holy Communion when you get close to the altar you do not need to get on the last flight of steps. Sincerely in Christ, Fr. Thomas Voorhies Fr. Tom’s Joke of the Week A little boy was attending his first wedding. After the service, his cousin asked him, “How many women can a man marry?” “Sixteen,” the boy responded.
