 Review From Last Week: Exodus 3:1;7 – Moses is hiding on the back side of the desert while the children of Israel are being cruelly oppressed.Exodus 4:1-5;17 – God empowers Moses shepherd’s rod and tell him to take it with him because through it God will empower him to deliver Israel.  

 THE ROD IS A SYMBOL OF GOD’S              AUTHORITY AND POWER Luke 4:36 – Jesus had authority         and power.Luke 10:19 – Jesus has given us full authority over the enemy.  ExousiaActs 1:8 – The Holy Spirit gives us power as a gift from God.   Dunamis       >> BADGE & GUN<<

A.  Every believer has exousia authority and      it is increased by the intimacy and integrity           of our relationship with the Lord. John 14:12 - “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. Restored relationship = restored authority

Mark 9:25–29 - When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” 26 Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. 28 And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” 29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” Fasting and prayer draw us closer to Godand increase our spiritual sensitivity and authority.  There are ranks of demonic powers and when you are dealing with a higher rank “this kind” you must be in a close walk with God.

B.  Every spirit baptized believer has dunamis     power and it is increased as our dependence      upon the Holy Spirit increases.   Ephesians 5:18 - And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,… Present imperative tense = Something we must constantly be doing.  Why? WE LEAKWe live in a battleground and life is demanding on all levels.  Living in the fullness of the Spirit means to stay spiritually hydrated.  Just as you must constantly drink water on a hot day or when you are working or exercising – we must constantly rely on the Holy Spirit to give us the power to live for God IN EVERY AREA OF LIFE

FIVE TYPES OF POWER THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVES USPhysical power - Romans 8:11  But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. PRAY FOR PHYSICAL GRACEEmotional power - Galatians 5:22–26      But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

.  Mental Power - John 16:13–14   However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. Spiritual Power – 1 Corinthians 12:7–11But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

The gifts of the Spirit are used to overcome demonic power and to minister God’s power and grace.  discerning of spiritsworking of miracles =   deeds of powerMoral PowerGalatians 5:22 – One of the fruits of the Spirit is “goodness”.  The theme of Galatians chapter five is that when we yield to the Holy Spirit He gives us moral power over the fallen desires of our flesh.  “Walk in the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh.”

THE HOLY SPIRIT CHANGES OUR DESIRES TO THOSE OF THE LORD. WE DON’T HAVE TO LIVE OUR LIVES TRYING NOT TO DO SOMETHING WE REALLY WANT TO DO – WE CAN LIVE IN FREEDOM TO DO WHAT WE DESIRE. ALL FIVE TYPES OF POWER ARE OURS FREELY AS WE PRAY AND DEPEND ON THE HOLY SPIRIT’S POWER IN OUR LIVES. C.  God’s power and authority in our lives give      us the ability to overcome the devil and live     in freedom as God designed.  LEAVE EGYPT!

THE TEN PLAGUES OF EGYPT SHOW US HOW TO WALK IN VICTORY OVER THE DEVIL AS WE EXERCISE THE AUTHORITY AND POWER GOD HAS GIVEN US. Moses was given the rod by God and told that by it he would execute the judgments against Pharoah that would deliver Israel. The entire story is a graphic example to us of how we use the power and authority God has given us to overcome Satan and all of his demonic realm.   

TRUTHS ABOUT THE PLAGUES OF EGYPT 1.  There were ten plagues.  Ex. 7-12       YUCKY – SCARY – TERRIFYING – DEADLY 7:20 – Nile turned to blood.8:6 – Frogs everywhere8:17 – Lice everywhere  (hand of God)8:24 – Flies everywhere9:3 – Cattle plague9:9 – Boils on the Egyptians9:18 – Hail10:13 – Locusts devour the crops10:22 – Three days of total darkness10:29 – Death of the firstborn

2.  All of the plagues were judgments          against the gods of Egypt.  - God was proving to the children of Israel,          the Egyptians and Pharoah that He was          the only true God and He was 

   transcendent over all things.   Hapi – God of the Nile.Hept the frog – The god of fertility and      childbirth.  Ra – God of the sun.Hat-hot – Heifer – One of the gods of Egypt.  Pharoah – Was worshipped as a god.   

EVERY PLAGUE WAS GOD PROVING HIS POWER AND AUTHORITY OVER THE GOD’S OF EGYPT THROUGH MOSES. 3.  Pharoah’s response to the plagues      revealed his Satanic nature.   The four ways Pharoah responded to Moses and how they reveal the four ways the devil tries to keep us in bondage.   a.)  LIES – Pharoah repeatedly told Moses if           he would pray for the plague to       stop he would let them go – and as       soon as it stopped he changed his       mind.  

 THE DEVIL IS A LIAR AND THE FATHER OF LIES.  HE WILL TELL US ANYTHING  KEEP US IN SIN – BUT HE NEVER KEEPS HIS WORD!        b.)  COMPROMISE – As the plagues worsen              Pharoah offers to let the men go, then               the women and children but not the 

       livestock and only after the death of       firstborn does he relent.

 COMPROMISE IN OUR LIVES GIVES THE DEVIL A FOOTHOLD TO CONTROL US.  ANYTHING LEFT IN EGYPT GAVE PHAROAH CONTROL AND KEPT THEM FROM BEING TRULY FREE AND BEING ABLE TO GET TO THE PROMISED LAND. c.)  PRIDE – The Bible says repeatedly that              Pharoah hardened his heart.  He was full of pride and refused to humble himself before God or Moses.  It ended in his fall.  

 Exodus 10:3 - So Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh and said to him, “Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me.   Numbers 12:3 - Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth. 

SATAN BEGAN AS LUCIFER – THE WORSHIP LEADER IN HEAVEN – UNTILHE BECAME PROUD AND REBELLED AGAINST GOD.  THE DEVIL USES PRIDEIN OUR LIVES TO DECEIVE US AND LEAD US INTO CAPTIVITY.

 

James 4:6 – God resists the proud butgives grace to the humble.

Resist = Set in battle formation against

        d.)  INTIMIDATION – As soon as Moses

showed up and demanded Pharoah tolet God’s people go he took awaytheir straw and forced them to workharder.  He finally threatened to killMoses if he saw him again.

 II Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given usa spirit of fear, but of power and of love andof a sound mind.

 THE DEVIL USES FEAR TO TRY TOCONTROL US.  GOD NEVER USES FEAR BUT GIVES US POWER, LOVEAND A SOUND MIND TO OVERCOMEFEAR.  THEY ARE ALSO OPPOSITESOF A SPIRIT OF FEAR AND ARE THE RESULT OF YIELDING TO THEHOLY SPIRIT BY FAITH.

4.  Israel was totally protected from all     of the plagues in Goshen.              GOSHEN = Drawing Near      James 4:7–8 - Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Remember, authority in the realm of the

Spirit is all about proximity.  It was the 

presence of God that protected Israel

in Goshen and the same is true for us.

Luke 10:19 – “….nothing shall by any means harm you…”

 IMPORTANCE OF THIS TRUTH:  We 

canlive in freedom and protection in a 

worldunder judgment as we draw near to 

God. 5.  The manner in which God sent the       plagues through Moses teaches

us how to exercise spiritual power       and authority over the devil. 

 B.  FOUR WAYS WE EXERCISE SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY AND POWER From the story of Moses and the 10 plagues. The ten plagues didn’t all happen the same way. Even though God told Moses that he would perform the wonders in Egypt through the rod, it was actually not used in four of the plagues. Even though he still had it as a symbol of authority and power, God used other means to affect some of the plagues. IMPORTANT POINT:  Nothing God told Moses to do was hard.  It took very little physical energy because THE POWER WAS IN THE ROD.Likewise, when we use our authority and power it isn’t difficult because the power is in God.  THE KEY TO OVERCOMING SATAN IS IN SIMPLE OBEDIENCE! GOD DOES THE REST!

Here are the four ways we exercise authority and power over the enemy from the story of Moses and the ten plagues of Egypt: 1.  OUR WALK – The rod used 6 times.      - Nile - Frogs - Lice - Hail - Locusts - Darkness A rod is much like a cane.  It is used for 

walking.  So in six instances God usedthe rod to bring the plague of Egypt.

 THE FIRST WAY WE EXERCISE AUTHORITYOVER THE DEVIL IS IN OUR DAILY WALKAS A BELIEVER.

     Every time we obey God – we are     exercising authority over the devil.  

HOW DID THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL GET       OUT OF EGYPT?  They walked out! 

Romans 6:16–18 - Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness

SIMPLE OBEDIENCE TO GOD BREAKS THE DEVIL’S AUTHORITY OVER OUR  LIVES AND GIVES US AUTHORITY OVER HIM AS WE SUBMIT TO GOD.  

 Forgiving vs. being bitter and angrySubmitting to authority vs. rebellion & independenceLoving my family and others vs. selfishnessObeying God by faith vs. being led by fearGenerosity vs. greedCrucifying my sinful desires vs. pursuing sin  2.  OUR WORDS – Words used twice.      - Flies - Cattle - It is not just our words that take          authority over the devil – it is speaking

   God’s Word that gives us authority   and power.

 - Matthew 4 / Luke 4 – Jesus defeated   the devil himself by quoting three   Scriptures – “It is written…” was    Jesus response when He was attacked   tempted by the devil.  

- Hebrews 4:12–13 - For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.  

    BY PRAYING AND CONFESSING THE     WORD OF GOD OVER OUR     CIRCUMSTANCES – INCLUDING JUST    SPEAKING WORDS OF FAITH AND    LIFE – WE EXERCISE AUTHORITY    AND POWER OVER THE DEVIL. 

GOD’S WORD HAS ULTIMATEAUTHORITY AND POWER IN ANYCIRCUMSTANCE. - Mark 11:22–24 - So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.  

 MY WART STORY 3.  OUR WARFARE – Ash used once.

- Boils on the Egyptians. - Remember – the Egyptians represent   demonic powers.  Once Moses and   Aaron threw ash in the air they were   judged.      ASH IS PURE AND IT IS THE PHYSICAL   REMAINS OF FIRE – WHICH REPRESENTS   THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT –   THE FIRST EVIDENCE OF THE POWER OF   THE SPIRIT FALLING IN PENTECOST.     THREE WAYS WE WAR AGAINST THE DEVIL AND EXERCISE POWER OVER HIM

Warring against him in our minds.2 Corinthians 10:3–5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, Binding and Loosing.    Matthew 16:18–19 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Praise and worship.  Psalm 149:5–9 Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud on their beds. 6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand, 7 To execute vengeance on the nations, And punishments on the peoples; 8 To bind their kings with chains, And their nobles with fetters of iron; 9 To execute on them the written judgment— This honor have all His saints. Praise the LORD!  SATAN AND DEMONIC ENTITIES CANNOT FUNCTION IN AN ENVIRONMENT OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP – IT BINDS THEM AND DRIVES THEM AWAY! 4.  OUR WEAKNESS – Blood used once.              - FINAL PLAGUE – Death of firstborn.

THE FIRST PASSOVER – The children ofIsrael were told to take a one year oldmale lamb and take it into their homes –then kill it and wipe it’s blood on thedoorposts of their homes.  They werealso to cook the lamb and eat it.  Thenight of Passover they were to do nothing except sit in their homes asGod killed the firstborn of any homenot under the blood.

 THIS IS ALL A GRAPHIC PORTRAYALOF THE DEATH OF JESUS – THE LAMBOF GOD WHO SAVES US AS WE DO NOTHING EXCEPT TRUST IN HIS BLOOD!

        Revelation 12:10–11 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

I cannot do anything to be saved –except to declare my weakness and trust in the blood of Jesus.

I cannot do anything to be righteous –because all of my righteousness is likefilthy rags before God – except to declaremy weakness and trust in the blood of Jesus.

SATAN IS THE ACCUSER OF THE BRETHRENAND ONE OF THE WAYS HE ATTACKS US THEMOST IS THE CONSTANT ACCUSATIONS OFHOW BAD WE ARE, HOW WE DESERVE TOBE PUNISHED, HOW WE DON’T DESERVETHE BLESSINGS OF GOD – CONDEMNATION,FEAR, CURSES, GOD DOESN’T LOVE US.

WE OVERCOME HIM BY DECLARINGOUR WEAKNESS AND RESTING UNDERTHE BLOOD COVERING OF JESUS!

SUMMARY AND CLOSE:   We have been given power and authority by God to leave the bondage of Egypt and to possess our Promised Land.  WE EXERCISE OUR AUTHORITY AND POWER THROUGH -- OUR WALK – WORDS – WARFARE – WEAKNESS - Stand and bow heads- Musicians and altar ministers come- Pray- Hand off to campus pastors- Altar Call and worship

Confession:  I declare that I have been invested with authority and power by God.  Because of that I will not allow the devil to rule me or hold me in bondage.  I will exercise my authority and power over him through my daily obedience to God, the faith-filled words of my mouth, spiritual warfare and trusting in the blood of Jesus.  I am leaving Egypt forever and will possess the Promised Land God has for me. I will also use the authority and power God has invested in me to help others be set free and reach their destiny in God.

Blessing:  I speak the blessing of freedom over your life in Jesus’ Name.  From this day forward by the power of the blood of Jesus you will live in mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and financial freedom.  You will be free from every curse of sin.  You will be free from every attack and scheme of the devil.  You will be free from your past and free to pursue your destiny in God.  I speak the freedom of Jesus Christ over you.  - Close Service
