BELONGING

We welcome new disciples to our

parish communities. If you live

within our parish boundaries, which

is our mission field, then you are

already a member. It is still

important that you register at the

Parish Oce or during registration

weekends so we can communicate

with you throughout the year. We

are here to help you meet Jesus

Christ, grow in holiness, and fully

participate in a life of prayer.

Please call or stop at either parish

oce, or speak with Fr. Schuster.

We are disciples together!

LITURGY & PRAYER

SUNDAY FAMILY PRAYER SERVICE

REGINA CAELI

MARIAN EASTER PRAYER

V. Queen of Heaven,

rejoice, alleluia.

R. For He whom you did

merit to bear, alleluia.

V. Has risen, as he said, alleluia.

R. Pray for us to God, alleluia.

V. Rejoice and be glad,

O Virgin Mary, alleluia.

R. For the Lord has truly risen,

alleluia.

Let us pray,

O God, who gave joy to the world

through the resurrection of Thy

Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant

we beseech Thee, that through

the intercession of the Virgin

Mary, His Mother, we may obtain

the joys of everlasting life.

Through the same Christ our

Lord. Amen.

Prepare a quiet place that is centered on the crucifix. Consider

arranging a family home “altar” with holy items along with a lit candle.

Begin with the Sign of the Cross: “In the name of the Father, and of the

Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

Spend a moment acknowledging your sins, and pray:

“I confess to Almighty God

and to you, my brothers and sisters,

that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have

done and in what I have failed to do,

through my fault, through my fault,

through my most grievous fault;

therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,

all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me

to the Lord our God.”

Read the readings for Mass found in this bulletin.

Invite 3 minutes of silence. Set a stopwatch and see how it feels to sit

together in silence for 3 minutes thinking about the Word of God.

Ask each member of the family to identify a point from the Gospel that

seemed to strengthen them, or “speak” to them. Encourage a discussion

on the readings. Perhaps the father of the family prepares a message for

his family based on the Gospel or one of the readings.

Optional Sharing. “What are some ways that we can grow in faith when we

experience doubt?” “Where is Jesus when we are doubting?”

Use the renewal of Baptismal Promises (found in this bulletin).

Conduct prayers of petition, ending each one with, “Let us pray to the

Lord.” “Lord, hear our prayer.”

 Recite the “Our Father” together.

Pray slowly the spiritual communion prayer:

My Jesus,

I believe that You are present

in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You

into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment

receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually

into my heart.

I embrace You as if

You were already there

and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be

separated from You. Amen.

Close with a group of devotional prayers, including any of your favorites.

Include the “Year of St. Joseph Prayer” from the bulletin and the “Regina

Caeli Prayer.”

Now pray the rosary as a family or pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

Good St. Joseph,

As you led the Holy Family,

watch over our families.

Help our family and all families

to know and share God’s love.

In our family relationships, may we

find healing and seek to be holy.

May our fathers help us to become

faithful disciples of Jesus

who share our love for Him.

As foster father of Jesus,

watch over all who serve

as spiritual fathers.

In a special way,

bless our Holy Father,

our Bishop, and our priests.

May they follow your humble example

in their fatherly care

for the people of God, the Church.

With Mary, you raised Jesus

the High Priest.

You know our need for priests.

Please raise up good and holy priests

from our families

to serve the people of our diocese.

May our children and grandchildren

hear and say “yes” to the call of Jesus,

just as you and Mary did.

Good St. Joseph, pray for us.

SCRIPTURE READINGS

1 PT 1:3-9 (Continued)

Although you have not seen him you love him;

even though you do not see him now yet believe in him,

you rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy,

as you attain the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Jn 20:19-31

On the evening of that first day of the week,

when the doors were locked, where the disciples were,

for fear of the Jews,

Jesus came and stood in their midst

and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.

The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you.

As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”

And when he had said this,

he breathed on them and said to them,

“Receive the Holy Spirit.

Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them,

and whose sins you retain are retained.”

Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve,

was not with them when Jesus came.

So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”

But he said to them,

“Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands

and put my finger into the nailmarks

and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

Now a week later his disciples were again inside

and Thomas was with them.

Jesus came, although the doors were locked,

and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”

Then he said to Thomas,

“Put your finger here and see my hands,

and bring your hand and put it into my side,

and do not be unbelieving, but believe.”

Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

Jesus said to him,

“Have you come to believe because you have seen me?

Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

Now, Jesus did many other signs

in the presence of his disciples

that are not written in this book.

But these are written that you may come to believe

that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God,

and that through this belief you may have life in his name.

ACTS 2:42-47

They devoted themselves

to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life,

to the breaking of bread and to the prayers.

Awe came upon everyone,

and many wonders and signs were done

through the apostles.

All who believed were together and had all things in common;

they would sell their property and possessions

and divide them among all according to each one’s need.

Every day they devoted themselves

to meeting together in the temple area

and to breaking bread in their homes.

They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart,

praising God and enjoying favor with all the people.

And every day the Lord added to their number

those who were being saved.

PS 118:2-4, 13-15 , 22-24

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, his love is everlasting.

Let the house of Israel say,

“His mercy endures forever.”

Let the house of Aaron say,

“His mercy endures forever.”

Let those who fear the LORD say,

“His mercy endures forever.”

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, his love is everlasting.

I was hard pressed and was falling,

but the LORD helped me.

My strength and my courage is the LORD,

and he has been my savior.

The joyful shout of victory

in the tents of the just:

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, his love is everlasting.

The stone which the builders rejected

has become the cornerstone.

By the LORD has this been done;

it is wonderful in our eyes.

This is the day the LORD has made;

let us be glad and rejoice in it.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, his love is everlasting.

1 PT 1:3-9

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

who in his great mercy gave us a new birth to a living hope

through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

to an inheritance that is imperishable,

undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you

who by the power of God are safeguarded through faith,

to a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the final time.

In this you rejoice, although now for a little while

you may have to suffer through various trials,

so that the genuineness of your faith,

more precious than gold that is perishable

even though tested by fire,

may prove to be for praise, glory, and honor

at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

FATHER SCHUSTER’S PAGE

THE REST OF THE STORY...

Thank you for allowing me to share a rather humbling witness with you this past Easter in the letter that I

sent to your home. I really do love the Lord Jesus, for he has rescued me from the pit of destruction. I

made a brief reference in my letter to Divine Mercy Sunday. Here is the rest of the story.

After this careless young disciple (me) forgot Easter and realized how far he had drifted since he first

experienced a radical conversation and the call to the priesthood, he felt unforgiveable. “God showed up in

my life in big ways in the last year, but I blew it. I ruined it. I forgot Jesus. Now I am absolutely certain that

Jesus will not take me back again. I should probably just fake it through the rest of life.” That was my train

of thought. The sting of sin is even worse if you have previously tasted of the good things of God. Is

forgiveness really possible again and again? I was truly sorry for forgetting Jesus, but I was also hopeless.

Wallowing in these thoughts days after Easter, I was sitting in my apartment where I lived alone during my

junior year of college. I was flipping through the TV stations and I came across the face of Mother Angelica.

She said, “Do you feel unforgiveable? Maybe you knew Jesus, and you blew it!

Have you decided that God would never take you back? Boy, have I got a deal for

you!” Mother Angelica went on to preach the power of the Divine Mercy

message. She said, “On this special day, Divine Mercy Sunday, Jesus promised

that if you approach him, he could not refuse you. Your sins will become like a

drop in God’s ocean of mercy.” I thought, “I found the back door! I can make it

back to God.” She said there were three things to do: Pray the Divine Mercy

Chaplet, make a good Confession, and receive the Holy Eucharist. I did exactly

that. I experienced the power of mercy in way that has kept me clinging to

Jesus Christ ever since. That’s what this devotion, and this Sunday is all about.

FIRST COMMUNION UPDATE

It is my guess that the State of Wisconsin will re-open in

small increments. Event the way we gather in the future

may change for awhile and their may be crowd limits

and/or mask wearing requirements. If we are given the

opportunity to gather fully as a parish, we will reschedule

our First Communion Mass roughly two weeks after that

re-opening date. If the State re-opens in a much slower

fashion, we may explore having First Communion

Masses in smaller family groups. Please continue to long

for the Real Presence and pray with us “virtually” on

Sundays using the Spiritual Communion Prayer.

FROM FR. SUESS

A sincere and prayerful thanks for kindness, gifts and cards

filled with good wishes both during the sacred days of Easter

and during my recent stay in the hospital as well as my time of

convalescence. Things are better now. These thankful good

wishes are accompanied by prayer and good wishes for you.

Let us pray together for our nation.
