Sunday, April 19, 2020 Year A SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER
“DICHOSOS LOS QUE CREEN SIN HABER VISTO.” ~JUAN 20:29b
Here is the prayer that Pope Francis offered on March 11 asking Mary to protect the world during the coronavirus pandemic:
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick. At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Parish Calendar Worship
CONTINUE TO STAY AT HOME, PLEASE! The Stay-at-Home order has been extended to May 4. Most of our parish staff continue to work remotely from their homes. Our offices continue to be closed to the public, but confessions are available at the times shown in the calendar. Our website is continually updated with the latest information. You can call the office and get your email added to our email blast list for email updates. There are outdoor containers at each campus—one near the Mainstreet doors, and one at the entrance near the Preston Lane parking area—where you can pick up a paper copy of the weekly bulletin.
Fr. Liekhus will continue to offer a private daily Mass, as well as Sunday Mass, for the good of the faithful and for the Mass intentions of the day. Each Mass will be recorded and posted every morning to our website: www.stgabrielhopkins.org/worship.
While you cannot receive the Eucharist in this manner, you are invited to make a Spiritual Communion, praying the Act of Spiritual Communion below:
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

MASS INTENTIONS
ICA Food Shelf Thanks You
Your generous contributions to the Second Collection on March 7-8 brought in a total of $4289.50. You help ICA fulfill their mission, which is to offer hope as they provide assistance to our
neighbors in need. They have supplied food, financial assistance and employment services for almost fifty years. They especially need our financial donations during this COVID-19 pandemic. We cannot bring food to our closed churches right now but we can continue to contribute financially by sending our check to ICA Food Shelf, 12990 St Davids Rd, MTKA, MN 55305 or go to icafoodshelf.org and donate on line. If you need assistance, you may call 952-938-0729 for help. ICA appreciates and needs our help. Thank You.

Small Group Reflection
Second Sunday of Easter
Acts 2:42–47; 1 Peter 1:3–9; John 20:1–9
The second Sunday of Easter is designated Divine Mercy Sunday. So, how does this feast fit with this week’s Gospel reading? When the reading begins, the disciples are hiding in fear for their lives. Compounding their fear is the recognition that they had abandoned Jesus in his hour of greatest need. They are scared, disgraced, and guilty. At that very moment, Jesus comes—despite the locked doors—to stand in their midst. He offers them both peace and mercy. In addition, he tells them that through the power of the Holy Spirit they, too, will have the ability to extend mercy by forgiving sins. Today’s feast invites us to trust that no matter what wrong we may have done, Jesus loves us and wants us to experience His mercy. The simple prayer “Jesus, I trust in You” sums up the faith we should have in Christ’s mercy.
Part of the trial that our faith undergoes is that we “have not seen Him.” We’re given many signs of His love and mercy, but these often recede into the background of our lives. If we retain an awareness of the special gifts God has given us and the small miracles he has performed in our own lives, then this helps us walk in faith.
• Imagine you are in the closed room with the other disciples, hiding in fear early on that first Easter Sunday. Suddenly Jesus is standing right before you and says, “Peace be with you.” How do you envision the other Apostles responding to Christ’s appearance? How might you respond?
• If we are to have the peace that Jesus wants for us, we must learn to trust in His mercy and goodness. Consider one area in your life where you lack peace. How can you increase your peace by increasing your trust?
• How would you define “mercy”? What are some examples of mercy that you can think of?

St. Margaret’s Cemetery—Plant Stand Rental
It is time to think about plant stands for your loved ones whom you have laid to rest at St. Margaret’s Cemetery.
All plant stands at St. Margaret’s Cemetery must be rented from St. Gabriel the Archangel Church and will be placed at the cemetery by the Cemetery Committee. This ensures both quality of the stand and proper placement. The Cemetery Committee will put in all approved plant stands for 2020 per requests received. St. Margaret’s Cemetery Policies will be enforced. Stands, flowers and decorations not in compliance with policy rules and regulations will be removed.
Depending on weather and our volunteers’ time, plant stands will be put in by Memorial Day weekend. The rental fee, which includes placement and removal, is $25 per season. The plant stand will hold a 10” to 12” flower pot and the flower pot and flowers are your responsibility. Flowers not watered and taken care of will be disposed of. All flowers must be removed by October 1.
Contact the parish office to reserve your plant stand.
Thank you for assisting the St Margaret’s Cemetery volunteer committee. We are always looking for more volunteers so please contact us if you are interested in helping!

A Community Caring for Life
“The family is the foundation of socie-ty. As parents, grandparents, godpar-ents, or aunts/uncles, we are tasked with cherishing the children of our lives and helping them grow into Godly people. This is the most important job we will ever have. This means we must treat them well, help them understand that they are valued, and serve as good examples to them in all we do.” (Culture Of Life Studies)

Earth Day Program April 22
With all of us responding to COVID-19, Earth Day is coming at such a wonder-ful time. The Archdiocesan Care for Creation Team is planning its first event on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22. Spend the day in nature: take a walk, bicycle, jog and enjoy the marvelous gift of nature. Of course, remember to observe social distancing as recom-mended by the CDC. Then at the end of the day, join fellow Catholics for a prayer vigil at 5:30pm via Zoom. The link to join the vigil is https://zoom.us/j/258812734. If you need to dial-in by phone, please contact Adam Fitzpatrick ([email protected]) for instruc-tions. For additional details, go to https://centerformission.org/whats-new/. We look forward to seeing eve-ryone and take the opportunity to en-joy Earth Day!
