SAMARITANS PURSE INFORMATION Boxes for Samaritans Purse will be available soon. You are encouraged to pack a box with your family. These should be brought to the church by November 17th. If possible, November 12th drop off would be even better. As an alternative to doing a box yourself, we will be collecting items and having a packing session. Good items include "small" toys (cars, balls, jump ropes etc.) Please include batteries if needed for items purchased. Also school supplies, hygiene items (no liquids), small accessories, flash light (should include batteries as well), etc. This year, no toothpaste may be included; no food of any kind including mints and hard candy, no fruit rolls, no drink mixes. No liquids or lotions, no aerosol cans. Customs in some places will remove these. These items may be brought beginning in September through October 23, 2017. Samaritans Purse SUGGEST a $9 donation for delivery. if you would like to donate for this, you may leave money in an envelope in the box, at the church office, or give to Debbie Rukat. More details will be announced including information about a plastic box which can be purchased for $1.50.

Ken’s Korner - Ken Reid, Pastor

From Ken… Annual Church-Wide Picnic …. Please come join us for an exciting day at Biggerstaff Park on this Sunday (August 27th). Our wonderful fellowship team will have a great pancake breakfast ready at 9:00 am. Following the pancake breakfast, we will gather in the worship area (very shady and comfort-able) for our morning worship service. Ray and I have planned (along with the Deacons) for music, prayer, singing and the Lord’s Supper. The worship begins at 10:15 am. When we conclude the Lord’s Supper we will walk to the other side of the park to the cove where Baptism will take place for about 6-8 people. Please dress casual. Bring your favorite chair or a blanket to set on the ground. For those who might swim later or for the children who will enjoy the water slide bouncy, you will need towels etc. Breakfast will be prepared but if you want lunch, you will bring your own picnic basket or order pizzas on your own etc. Additionally, Ray will head up the annual horseshoe contest and I will head up the cornhole contest. We have several who have already set up their teams but you can join in the fun on Sunday. PS: We are asking our deacons to join the staff at 8:00 am to help set up tables, music instruments etc. for both the meal and the worship service. Bring a change of clothes in you need that. CrossWalk for Adults …. On Sunday, September 10th, all our evening programing will resume. I will be leading a very special class in the sanctuary entitled “Flickering Lamps” by Henry and Richard Blackaby. Books are available in advance; I will have a sign-up sheet in the educational hallway for you to sign-up. This is my challenge to everyone who believes that God has something special in store for CSBC. DON’T MISS THIS! For those who are working in MARK on Sunday evenings, I will make the books available to you and hopefully we will do an audio recording of the discussion. I’m asking all our deacons, past, present and future to make this a priority. We should have our sanc-tuary full each of the 6-7 weeks of this discussion process. Question: “Where will CSBC be in 5 years?” I’m going to make some BOLD predictions at that first introductory session. CSBC, as well as every church in America is/are facing some diffi-cult days ahead. American morals, demographics and lifestyles have changed radically since I was a child. Church houses in America are closing at a rate of 3-4 A DAY! Using the Blackaby book as a guide for the discussions that will follow I pray to seek where the Lord is and be ALL IN with God. Deacon Election …. We now have a ballot of names that you should pray over. All these men will make great deacons if elected. We will vote for 6 only on Sunday, September 3rd. The nominees are: Phillip Addington, West Elliott, Terry England, Neil Ford, Jon Haney, Ray Hiler, Phillip Medlin, Tim Merrell, Michael Oakley, Sr., Mike Thrift and Joe Ward. 6 will be elected and the 7th is the alternate.

“New Singles” Ministry Outreach begins! I am very excited about the newly reorganized out-reach to high school graduates in the ages of 18-30. Shannon Elliott and Don Bickers will begin

September 3rd leading this effort in the Sunday School hour. This new effort will meet in the

church office and will seek to create opportunities of fellowship, ministry, outreach and growth through a variety of efforts. Spread the word! The class will begin on September 3rd but will have

a “Kick-off event” sometime in October. Thanks to Shannon, Don and Paul Fidler (SS Director) for your vision and desire to love these young adults.

WOW Wednesdays! C- Street Summer Schedule featuring…

Hello CSBC!

Thank you for all of your support throughout the summer! Because of volunteer involve-ment and support, WOW Wednesdays have been a huge success! Our lowest attendance night was 22 and our highest attendance was 40 kids at our annual “Get Saturated” night! I’m looking forward to sharing about our summer in the next few weeks! It has been such a blessing to see NEW kids EVERY WEEK this summer!

I also want to take time to thank our MARK Club and Bible Quest volunteers for their dedication, commitment and obedience to be a part of these ministries! We kick off Bible Quest on September 6 and MARK Club on September 10! I am so excited about beginning our fourth year of MARK Club! There are many events that have taken place since the beginning of MARK Club that I believe would not have happened without us following God’s guidance to start this ministry, including our first trip to KidSalt camp this past summer! Three children made professions of faith at KidSalt and several others made decisions for Christ at Vacation Bible School this summer!

Thank you for your encouragement, prayers, and support of C-Street Kids ministry. It is a continued blessing to see constant evidence of God’s work in the life of our children and their families. It is a privilege to serve your children, grandchildren, and families! Looking forward to seeing you at our church picnic this Sunday! Because of Him,

Lauren
