    NOTES:

MEMORY VERSE: Isaiah 9:22The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness on them light has shined.

    Going Deeper

The purpose of this page is to provide a tool or instrument for your spiritual growth. This page

contains a brief synopsis of the readings as well as some questions for your reflection to help you godeeper with the Word. On the back is a day by day listing of scripture readings with possible prayerrequest. Individuals are listed on their day of birthso that you might pray for them on their birthday.

Also on the back is the prayer list for the congregation. Keep on Growing Spiritually!!

    Readings for the Day:

Isaiah 9:1-7: This poem promises deliverance from Assyrian

oppression, a hope based on the birth of a royal child with a namefull of promise. While Judahs king will practice justice andrighteousness, the real basis for faith lies in Gods passion for the

people: The zeal of the Lord of host will do this!

John 8:12-20: Jesus is in the temple teaching. In this text isanother of Jesus I AM sayings. Jesus says that he is the light ofthe world and that his light will cast away the darkness and allwho follow will never walk in darkness.

    Questions To Ponder:

1Who is Isaiah?2What does it mean that the people who have walked in

darkness have seen a great light?

3How do you think that the people at the time of Isaiah

    would have heard this message?

4What does this text say to us today?
