Working together to spread the Gospel Saint Wendelin Luxemburg Holy Cross – Pearl Lake (Marty) Mary of the Immaculate Conception Rockville Sunday Bulletin Third Sunday of Easter April 10, 2016 From Safari This an exciting time within the cluster, as youth in our cluster make their First Eucharist this weekend and next weekend. On Thursday, many of our 10th and 11th grad- ers become fully initiated into the church as they are con- firmed at St. Mary’s Cathe- dral. Congratulations to our youth and their families as they celebrate these land- mark sacraments. The celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation this week reminds us that we are called to witness to the Good News of a God who loves us and is actively involved in our lives. To be effective witness- es, we are to gather around the Book and Altar every week. This obligation to gather for Eucharist on Sunday is not meant as a burden. Rather, we gather to remember that we need each other, and we need the nourishment only God can provide us. Noting the importance of the Sunday gathering, Gabe Huck writes, “During our time together each Sunday, the church is doing in this room what the church needs to do, hungers and thirsts to do, in order to be the church. The deeds are done not simply by one individual and another individual, but by the church here assembled. The body of Christ is proclaiming itself to be the body of Christ. The body of Christ — you and me — is identifying itself, re- membering itself, preparing itself to live as Christ all week long. When we come into this room, we do not come to pray alone for an hour or so. We come to place ourselves beside brothers and sisters and to give all that we have to give to the work the church has to do here. It is the church that listens to God’s loving word, it is the church that then intercedes, it is the church that gives God thanks and praise over bread and wine, and it is the church that takes and is the holy Communion. None of us does this alone, yet the church does nothing without each of us doing all we can.” (April 2016, Celebration, p.9, The National Catholic Reporter Publishing Company, Kansas City, MO.) ers become fully initiated into the church as they are con-firmed at St. Mary’s Cathe-dral. Congratulations to our youth and their families as they celebrate these land-mark sacraments.

The celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation this week reminds us that we are called to witness to the Good News of a God who loves us and is actively involved in our lives. To be effective witness-

es, we are to gather around the Book and Altar every week.

Divine Mercy Thank You...Last Sunday’s Divine Mercy Sunday service at MIC was a

wonderful occasion of Grace bringing people from across the area together at the fountain of

mercy for adoration, for confession and for a deeper understanding of God’s love and mercy.

Surely an abundance of Grace was showered upon all. Thanks to Fr. Ron for his presentation

on mercy; all 5 priests who heard confessions and all the faithful who prayed and sang in

English and Spanish. Special thanks to the area parishes who coordinated the planning and

especially for the collaboration of our cluster member parishes who produced such a deli-

cious supper!! It was indeed a day of immense mercy and trust which will most certainly fill

the hearts and souls of many!

Cluster Parish Offices Update: St. Wendelin’s Parish Leadership members did a rectory

walk through last week to identify the next steps in relocating the tri parish office there. It’s

anticipated the rectory will be ready for move-in sometime mid-June. Meanwhile, Kathy

Anderson, our newly hired tri parish secretary who’s been working out of the MIC office

since starting in January ,will make regular visits to the HC and SW offices to be oriented

into office procedures.
