Introduction to the Liturgy of the Day Today we conclude the liturgical year and the Jubilee Year of Mercy. As we begin our celebration today, it would be good to reflect on

what our merciful God has done for us. How is our world a better place because of the mercy of God that we have received and shared with our sisters and brothers?

“Through his victory, Jesus has opened to us his kingdom. But it is for us to enter into it, beginning with our life now-his kingdom begins now-by being close in concrete ways to our

brothers and sisters who ask for bread, clothing, acceptance, solidarity, catechesis. If we truly love them, we will be willing to share with them what is most precious to us, Jesus himself and his Gospel.”

A Family Perspective—Today’s gospel reminds us the Kingdom of Heaven is not like Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Admission to Christ’s Kingdom is paid with the currency of acceptance, forgiveness, attention to the poor and love of one’s enemy.

Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed

Our Catholic faith calls us to pray on behalf of those who have gone before us in death.

Therefore, during this month of November, we are called to remember in a special way all those who have died. Through the end of November, a “Book of the Names of the Dead”, will be available near the baptismal font so the names of the deceased family members and friends may be recorded. These individuals (those recorded in years past along with the new names added this year) will be remembered before the Lord during November.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development

Working on the Margins

The collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) provides funding for groups that make lasting change and uplift the poor in the United States. CCHD’s grants improve education, support economic development, and create affordable housing in low-income neighborhoods. Help us continue to defend human dignity and build communities of solidarity. Please give to the CCHD Collection.
