Priest on Call: Should you have an urgent need to contact a priest after hours dial 214-232-7512. Blue Connect Card: Fill out a card to make Prayer Requests, RSVP, register as a guest, or to get more information on Saint Michael. Need Prayer? Want to pray on someone’s behalf, or offer up thanksgivings? Prayer Teams are available to pray with you after each Sunday morning service. An usher can direct you to the various prayer locations.

• Volunteer cooks needed Tuesday 6:00 – 8:00 for Austin Street Center. Cooking in the Parish Hall kitchen.

• One volunteer needed to transport food to Austin Street Center Wednesday morning.

• Help serve the Austin Street Center meal Wednesday evening 6:00 – 8:00.

If you can cook Tuesday evening, contact Mark Demler at [email protected] you can transport the meal or serve, contact Rita Davis at [email protected].

Jubilee park iS looking for volunteerS. Join us by participating in one or all of the following:

• Jubilee Sewing Classes are a Stitch – You can help. Sewing Classes at Jubilee Park are underway and help is needed to teach 4th and 5th graders how to sew. Classes are Tuesday and Wednesday mornings 10:00 - 11:30, through July 29. Contact Mary Jo Forbes [email protected] or 972-306-3856.

• Jubilee Park’s Brighter Bites. Brighter Bites is a Jubilee Park program that provides f a m i l i e s involved in summer camp fresh fruits and vegetables for the weekend. Volunteers are needed on Fridays in July from 11:00 – 2:30 to distribute the bags of food.

• Chaperone a Summer Camp Field Trip. Jubilee Park’s Summer Camp is taking two more field trips to Dallas area attractions and needs Chaperones. The field trips will be on Fridays July 10, and July 24. Chaperones must be 21 or older.

• Jubilee’s After School Program Can Use You This Fall. Jubilee Park’s after-school program serves 180 children from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Volunteers are needed this fall to assist teachers in the classroom with homework and enrichment activities. And, tutors are needed to help with reading and math skills. It’s very rewarding.

ordination for the rev. hunter ruffin Scheduled July 11. Mark your calendar, The Rev. Hunter Ruffin will be ordained to the priesthood Saturday, July 11. Bishop Rayford High from Fort Worth will perform the ordination at Saint Michael at 10:00, followed by a reception. Hunter, the Associate for Mission and Outreach, graduated from Seminary of the Southwest last May and joined the Saint Michael clergy staff earlier this month. All parishioners are invited.

general convention of the epiScopal church iS underWay in utah. The 78th General Convention of the Episcopal Church started earlier this week and will continue through Friday, July 3 in Salt Lake City. The convention will elect a new Presiding Bishop, who will take office November 1. Get information about the convention’s proceedings from the Episcopal News Service at www.episcopaldigitalnetwork.com.

Seminary of the SouthWeSt launcheS digital miniStry to reflect on convention. In conjunction with the General Convention, the Seminary of the Southwest has started “Sowing Holy Questions” at www.sowingholyquestions.org. Each day authors from the seminary provide a reflection on convention actions, posting a simple question. Readers are encouraged to post responses on social media, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

faith and literature takeS a holiday break – returnS July 12. Faith and Literature, our summer adult class is taking a two-week break as we Celebrate America and the July 4th holiday weekend. The class returns Sunday, July 12 when the Vicar, Bill Murray, looks at the book The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. The Pulitzer Prize winner is a story of comic books, superheroes, and real-world survival.  On July 19, the Rector, Bob Dannals, reviews The New Jim Crow, which is particularly pertinent given the recent tragedy in Charleston.

Work Started on neW SportS field on the north campuS. A new sports field for use by Saint Michael’s youth, children, and young family ministries and the Saint Michael Episcopal School is being developed just west of the playground and north of the parking lot. The area has been leased in recent months by contractors working on nearby buildings for employee parking. Cost of the sports field is being paid by the contractors in return for use of the land. The new facility is scheduled to be finished by mid-September.

July iS north dallaS Shared miniStrieS month. Fill at least one grocery bag during July and bring it to the South Lanai. Suggested items: Macaroni and Cheese, peanut butter, Tortillas, canned food items, saltine crackers. A more extensive list is available at several locations throughout the church. Financial contributions are just as valuable. Make checks payable to North Dallas Shared Ministries and bring to the South Lanai receptionist.

conSider Serving in one of the folloWing WayS: If you are good at providing hospitality, you might volunteer to help during funeral receptions; if you take great pleasure in preparing food and sharing it with parishioners needing a little loving care, an excellent placement for you is as an Extended Care Cook; and help us keep up with parishioners in your neighborhood as a Good Shepherd. chriStian yoga. There will not be a yoga class on Monday, July 6 but it will meet the other Monday evenings in July at 5:30 in the Youth Center. Yoga classes will not meet in August. Christian Yoga is led by Licensed Instructor, Annette Lentz. For information contact her at [email protected].

faith and grief luncheon in July. The Faith and Grief Ministry resumes its monthly luncheon on Thursday, July 9 at 12:00 Noon in the Coke Activities Room. Make a reservation with Katherine Bowen at [email protected]. There is no fee but your donation is greatly appreciated.
