in New York, presented at the Winter NYSSMA conference, NAfME All-Eastern Conference and was a featured educator in NYSSMA’s DVD, “Music Views.” Dr. Ho is currently the director of bands at the Wheatley School in the East Williston school district.
Patricia Koppeis (Nassau Symphony Orchestra) a native of North Carolina, attended UNC-Chapel Hill, received her Bachelor of Music from New England Conservatory, and completed her graduate degree from Teacher’s College Columbia University. Prior to her teaching career, she was a first violinist in the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and also freelanced in New York. During her thirty-five years of being a professional educator, Ms. Koppeis taught all levels

While at Syosset, her orchestras consistently achieved the highest NYSSMA Major Ensemble ratings and were invited to perform at state and national music conferences. Her students performed with Dr. Bert Konowitz, Dr. Billy Taylor, and Dave Brubeck, and have worked with Metropolitan Opera conductor Paul Nadler. Ms. Koppeis began conducting with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra (MYO) in 1997 and continues to serve as musical director and conductor of the Nassau Symphony Orchestra. For many summers, Ms. Koppeis served as String Orchestra conductor for the New York State Summer School of Orchestral Studies Program in Saratoga, NY. A frequent clinician and guest conductor, Ms. Koppeis has conducted several area All-State, All-County, and LISFA orchestras. ABOUT THE METROPOLITAN YOUTH ORCHESTRA OF NEW YORK
The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York (MYO) is committed to fostering a community of talented young musicians from Long Island and providing them with an opportunity to rehearse and perform choral and orchestral masterworks at the highest possible level with recognized leaders in music education and performance. Founded in 1993 by John C. McNeur, MYO has grown from a 15-piece orchestra to seven orchestras, a flute choir, and seven choral ensembles, serving over 1,000 musicians between the ages of 8 and 18. MYO enjoys a rich tradition of international summer performance tours, beginning with the 1997 tour to Germany, France, and Austria through the most recent tour to Spain in 2016. MYO is thrilled to announce our 12th international performance tour to Berlin, Dresden, Prague, Vienna, and Budapest in July 2018.
