Mystery {Sacrament) of Repentance: Is available before each Divine Liturgy on Saturday, 3:15 PM to 4:00 PM and on Sunday in SS. Peter & Paul Church, 8:15 AM to 9:00 AM, and at Assumption BVM Church on Sunday at 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM in the confessionals.

A Reminder: All are reminded that it is our tradition to stand in prayer during the Easter season. There are two postures for prayer during the period from Easter to Pentecost standing or sitting. We all kneel again in prayer fifty days from the Resurrection of Our Lord to the special Pentecost "Kneeling Prayers." This tradition gives visible sign of our belief that God revealed something wonderful by the resurrection of Christ, namely that human life is eternal and immortal because it is sharing in the life of God Himself. We stand during this period to proclaim our awareness that we are not "slaves" but "children" of the Heavenly Father- we are the sons and daughters of the Most High. Unlike most slaves who, in the lands of the East, had to kneel when they were in the presence of their master, we stand in the presence of our Father. We are, because of His gift of life, His heirs. We stand in recognition of this great honor. You are also reminded that .... we "joyously" sing the Easter Tropar (Christ is Risen from the dead) for forty days until Ascension Thursday. This Tropar should be sung with enthusiasm (it is not a funeral dirge). It should be sung with a lively and spirited pace!

Sunday of the Ointment-Bearing Women - 3rd Paschal Sunday Troparion: The noble Joseph took down Your most pure body from the cross.* He wrapped it in a clean shroud, and with fragrant spices laid it in burial in a new tomb. * But You arose in three days, 0 Lord,* bestowing great mercy upon the world. The Angel stood by the tomb and cried out to the women bringing ointment:* "Ointments are for the dead, *but Christ has shown Himself not subject to corruption. * So now cry out: 'The Lord has risen, * bestowing great mercy upon the world." *

Kontakion: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. By Your resurrection, 0 Christ our God. *You told the women bringing ointment to rejoice; * and You stilled the weeping of Eve, the first mother.* You instructed the women to announce to Your Apostles:* ''The Savior has risen from the tomb."

Now and ever and forever. Amen Although You descended into the grave, 0 Immortal One,* You destroyed the power to Death.* You arose again as a victor, 0 Christ God. * You announced to the women bearing ointment: "Rejoice!"* You gave peace to Your Apostles* and resurrection to the Fallen.

Prokimenon: Save Your people, 0 Lord, and bless Your inheritance. V. To You, 0 Lord. I call; my God, be not deaf to me.

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia: V. Lord, You once favored Your land and revived the fortunes of Jacob. V. Mercy and faithfulness have met; justice and peace have embraced.

Instead of "It is truly proper ..... " The Angel exclaimed to her, full of grace:* "Rejoice! " 0 Pure Virgin, *again I say! Rejoice!* Your Son is risen from the grave on the third day * and has raised the dead. * Let all nations rejoice. Shine in splendor, * 0 New Jerusalem; for the glory of the Lord is risen upon you, 0 Sian Sing with joy and rejoice. * And you, pure Mother of God, * rejoice in the resurrection of your Son.

Myrrh-Bearing Women Sunday

Mary Magdalen who loved the Lord more dearly, for she had remained at the sepulchre weeping, saw the Lord first of all of them, and told the Apostles. For the Evangelist John says: But Mary Magdalen coming tells the disciples: I have seen the Lord. Through this we are counseled that we should come seeking the Lord laden with sweet spices, that is, with the spices of virtue and good works.

There are some. Dearly Beloved, who seem to be seeking the Lord, but since they are slothful, and strangers to virtue, they do not deserve to find Him; nor, when found, to see Him. What however were these holy women seeking at the tomb, if not the Body of the Lord Jesus? And you, what is it you are seeking in the Church if not Jesus, that is, the Savior? But if you wish to find Him, the sun being now risen, then come as these women came; that is, let there be no darkness of evil in your hearts; for the desires of the flesh, and works that are evil, are darkness. They in whose hearts there is darkness of this

.

kind see not the light, and understand not Christ; for Christ is the Light. Ther.efore, drive the darkness from you, brethren; that is, all sinful desires, and all evil works, and provide yourselves with sweet spices, that is, earnest prayer, saying with the psalmist: Let my prayer, 0 Lord, be directed as incense in thy sight (Ps 140.2).

Now since you are celebrating the holy Pasch, you should know, brethren, what the Pasch is. Pasch means, the crossing-over; and so the Festival is called by this name. For it was on this day that the Children oflsrael crossed over out of Egypt, and the Son of God crossed over from this world to His Father. What gain is it to celebrate the Pasch unless you imitate Him Whom you worship; that is, unless you cross over from Egypt, that is, from the darkness of evildoing to the light of virtue, and from the love of this world to the love of your heavenly home?
