SUNDAYS AT UABCBREAKFAST is served in the Fellowship Hall from 8:30 AM-9:15 AM each Sunday morning.
NURSERY & PRESCHOOL CARE is provided for children, birth through Kindergarten, during the worship service and Bible study groups in the Koon Mission Building (Nursery: Room 4, Preschool: Room 2).
1ST-6TH GRADE STUDENTS will remain in the entire worship service this month.
FELLOWSHIP LUNCH will be held on November 5 & 23 in the Fellowship Hall. You are invited to join us for this special time together.

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

A.S.K. PRAYER GROUP meets each Monday at 6:15 PM in the sanctuary. All are welcome.
CHUUKESE TUTORING MINISTRY meets each Monday at Waipahu District Park and on Thursday evenings at Kalihi Baptist Church. This outreach includes tutoring, a dinner, and a Bible study. The ministry is in need of more tutors from 4:30 PM-6:00 PM. The tutoring ministry will not meet on Thursday, November 9, or Thursday, November 23, this month. For more information, contact Brent Young.
ADVENTING ADVENT, a multi-generational learning experience to help individuals and families prepare to observe the Advent season, will meet on November 8 & 15. Dinner will be served from 6:15 PM and planned activ-ities will begin at 6:45 PM in the Fellowship Hall.
I.H.S. DINNER FOR THE HOMELESS is on the second Monday of each month. Join us this month on Monday, November 13, at 5:30 PM. If you are interested in helping, please sign up on the lanai, in your Bible study class, or online. For more information, contact Brent Young.
THE HAWAII PACIFIC BAPTIST CONVENTION ANNUAL MEETING is November 9-10 at Hawaii Baptist Academy (2429 Pali Hwy). The meeting will begin on Thursday at 5 PM and will resume on Friday morning at 7 AM.
YOUTH GIRLS' GROUP, a Bible study for girls in 6th-12th grades, will meet on Friday, November 17, and Friday, December 1, at 6:15 PM at Lynda Powell's home.
YOUTH GUYS are invited to help feed and minister to the homeless on Friday, November 17, from 6 PM-8:15 PM at Olivet Baptist Church. Contact Brent Young for more information.
PRETEEN GIRLS' GROUP is Friday, November 24, from 6:30 PM-9 PM at Dani Beth's House. This gathering is for 4th-6th grade girls. This will be our final Bible study night of 2017!

This "Thanksgiving Eve" event is a pie potluck for families of youth and children -- and anyone else who would like to join in on the fun! Please bring a pie dessert to share. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 3 - PARADE HAT DECORATING We hope you will join us in marching with our church family in the Manoa Christmas Parade. Last year, we began wearing crazy Christmas hats as we marched in the parade. On Sunday, December 3, you are invited to bring a hat to decorate for the parade during Fellowship Lunch.

HOLIDAY SERVICESTHURSDAY, NOVEMBER 23 - THANKSGIVING DAY SERVICE We hope you will join us for our Thanksgiving Day Service at 10 AM. We will collect our annual offering for the homeless during this service.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 26 - END OF THE YEAR SERVICE This special service, annually observed on the last Sunday of the church calendar year, will include reports from various ministries and a church family picture. We will decorate the church for Advent & Christmas, pack international student care packages, and make Christmas cards for shut-ins after the service. Bible study groups will not meet on this day. We hope you will join us as we celebrate all God has done in and through UABC this year! As a reminder, we will continue to have worship services for the rest of 2017. We call this Sunday's celebration the "End of the Year Service", because it is the last Sunday of the church calendar year (the church calendar year begins with Advent).

Holidays can be a lonely time for international students. School is out and friends are home celebrating with their families. What an opportunity to welcome students into our homes and show them that they are loved! With Thanksgiving coming up, we are looking for families who would be willing to invite one or two international students into your home for your Thanksgiving meal. All you have to do is sign up (on the lanai, in your Bible study class, or online) and we will connect you with a student. For some students, this may be their one and only Thanksgiving. To be welcomed into a Christian home for this special American holiday will surely be something they will always remember. Please consider inviting a student to share Thanksgiving lunch or dinner with you. For more information, contact Meredith Palicte.
A THANKSGIVING INVITATION
Please help us fill Welcome Home Baskets for IHS to bless families and individuals who are moving from IHS' emergency shelters to various new homes. Outfitting a new home with supplies can get expensive, so these families and individuals need help as they begin their fresh new start. Any new or used-in-good-condi-tion household items you can donate to help fill the laundry baskets will be much appreciated. The list of most frequently requested items will be posted on the bulletin board. Please bring your donated items by Sunday, December 10. We will pack Welcome Home Baskets together after the Ohana Christmas Celebration service.
WELCOME HOME BASKETS
As Christians, we know that true happiness will never consist of things. Contentment will never be found through satisfying the desires of this life. But a culture that begs us to buy, buy, buy in an effort to make ourselves “better” does not leave us better off in any real sense—or ultimately satisfied. The Apostle Paul wrote from prison, “I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” He learned that contentment is never achieved by satisfying our desires, because desires, once satisfied, do not stay satisfied. So how do learn contentment?
This is where the habits of gratitude and generosity can form in us real lasting contentment. These are habits, not “one off” events. During this Thanksgiving, Advent, and Christmas season, practice gratitude ev-ery day. Every single day. Out loud. And Give Good Gifts that make a difference, not just gifts that satisfy a passing desire. There are a few great ideas for Good Gifts in this newsletter. And you are always en-couraged to Give Good Gifts to your church and missions. Consistently. Make it a habit. Starting now. Remember the biblical habit of giving is rooted in a person, not a rule. As you Give Good Gifts as a habit, you will find that you can trust God to meet all your needs. He is faithful.
