Over the next 12 months we will be helping your child to grow towards being a capable and independent person. We have put this booklet together so you know what happens in our room each day, what we do, what you will need to do and most importantly, what your child will be gaining from our program.

We encourage children to:

^separate confidently from parents *adjust well to the routines of the Centre ^develop independence in caring for their own belongings ^develop confidence in selecting activities and pursuing interests *learn to share and take turns in use of resources ^communicate needs appropriately to peers and carers ^develop fine motor and gross motor skills *extend vocabulary and improve speech

^express themselves and communicate through a variety of media

Children will gain: *lively and enquiring minds with a love of learning and willingness to apply effort *the ability to express themselves creatively *the full use of their imagination ^self-confidence, a sense of worth and respect for and consideration of others *a defined set of personal and social values *the ability to make rational decisions and to problem solve

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO EACH DAY

*Please sign your child in on arrival and out on departure * 0 n arrival put lunch box and drinks in the fridge *Ensure your child is wearing sunscreen and a hat *Take your child outside and greet our staff to let them know you are here *Say 'goodbye' to your child and reassure him/her of your return *Write any messages for staff in the room communication book *0n departure please make sure you take home all your child's belongings (clothes, shoes, lunch box, drink bottle) *Record any medication to be administered in the Medication Folder (Place medication in kitchen fridge and inform staff verbally)

WHAT TO BRING EACH DAY

*a healthy lunch and morning and afternoon tea *a drink bottle

'a fitted cot sheet or single bed sheet and a cover sheet *spare clothes

*a hat *nappies (if applicable)

aplenty of spare undies and shorts etc.if toileting
