September 23, 2019 Superintendent M essage THOUGHTS FROM DR. BALL Dear Judson ISD Team: I hope that everyone had a great weekend. Just recently I came across a story explaining how a wolf pack works together in support of each other and its analogy to leadership. In the adjacent photo, the three wolves in front are old and sick. They walk in front to set the pace. The next five are the strongest. They protect the front side from an attack. The middle group is fully protected. The five behind them are also among the strongest and protect the back side. The last wolf is the leader, he ensures no one is left behind. He keeps the pack tight and on the same path. He is ready to run in any direction to protect his pack. Just like the wolves we all have a very important role. But most importantly we need to be there to support each other and help each other through the hard times. We all need to be united and know that we are all bonded together under one goal to help ALL students. There is a group of teachers that I ask for everyone to reach out to and that is our new teachers. Our veteran teachers are like the strongest wolves. Veteran teachers possess so much knowledge and their experience has taught them so much to be successful and maneuver the roller coaster ride of teaching. If you recall being a new teacher there are so many emotions that you go through your first year. First is the excitement, then the fear of being responsible for so many students, then comes the tired feeling, and then there are so many other emotions. So I ask for your assistance to reach out to a new teacher and see what they need or how you can help them. We want to retain our new teachers and make sure that they feel welcome, supported and confident that what they are going through is normal. To our new teachers thank you for being part of Judson ISD. We are here to support you! We want you to be successful so if there is anything you need please reach out to any one of us. THOUGHTS FROM DR. BALLDear Judson ISD Team:

I hope that everyone had a great weekend.

O ur Great Studen tsThese students are from Salinas Elementary School and they are some of the wonderful students in Judson ISD. Not just because they are sharp scholars, but recently their teacher Ms. Therese Ermer had to be away from the classroom to temporarily help out the district in another way...Strategic Planning. Well, while she was gone, this class of students didn't skip a beat in taking care of their business, staying respectful, engaged, and working with the teacher who was substituting. In fact, the substitute teacher was so impressed, she paid them a complement that got back to Dr. Ball. So she paid them a visit so she could see for herself, this is a great group of scholars.

Josh Walker is a senior at Veterans Memorial High School and is the starting center and team captain on the Patriot Football team. He was recently honored by WOAI-TV as the Thursday Night Lights Scholar Athlete of the Week.

Josh was invited down to the TV studio for an interview and presentation of the award which was a pretty cool experience.

Josh has been a part of Patriot Football from the very beginning and was selected All-District last year. He's a NHS, FCA, and student council member with a 3.9 GPA.

Congratulations to you and Patriot Nation!

The Wagner HIgh School Counseling Staff has been a fantastic group of professionals that work with our high school students at so many different levels. Others are noticing too. This group was recently selected for the Military Above and Beyond Award. Ms. Shamia Coleman nominated this team through the Air Force Public Affairs Office and they are now set to be recognized and honored at a special Luncheon on November 13. Congratulations to these wonderful and caring professionals.
