Superintendentrsquos Message Research shows one of the strongest tools for student success is family
engagement This week our district and students benefitted from that
support Parents grandparents and community members ate lunch in our
cafeterias during School Lunch Week explored the Native American
Museum enjoyed Grandparentsrsquo Day bought books at book fair and
attended parent-teacher conferences Your presence at school events and
volunteerism are positive influences and key components to continued
success We hope you enjoy attending these events as much as we enjoy
having you spend part of your day with our students

Sixth graders love their grandparents and were very
excited to show them their school classrooms and
projects It was a great day to have lunch together

The welcome mat was out for parents and some
grandparents at Broadway Elementary It is
obvious by these big smiles that students love
having special visitors for lunch during National

LT Ballrsquos Native American Museum
Fifth grade students proudly shared their creativity and
enthusiasm during the ldquoopeningrdquo of the Native American
Museum Students made a project based on one of the four
cultural regions of Native Americans they learned about
in class The assignment was to help the students understand
more about the differences in these early Native American
cultures and to understand how they interacted with the
environment to survive Parents and other guests toured the
exhibit and had a chance to ask the students about their
projects and what they learned

Tippecanoe High School Anglers Club took a trip to Springfield Whitewater Park
The call is going out for young people from elementary through high school age to begin forming teams now to learn the creative process while participating in team problem solving challenges with Destination Imagination (DI) DI encourages student to have fun take risks focus and frame challenges while incorporating STEM the arts and service learning Students build on individual strengths and learn patience flexibility persistence ethics respect for others and collaborative problem solving For more information go to wwwidodiorg or call Mrs Pam Staub at 667-8448 This is a fabulous extra-curricular activity for students of all ages

University of Virginia If you are interested in learning more about the University of Virginia there is an event being held on Tuesday
October 22nd at 700 pm A dean from the university will provide information answer questions and meet with
students Admission counselor Jimmy Bishop and a panel of recent graduates will help you learn more about the

explores cyber bullying sextortion cyber security and social media (including the impact that texting tweeting

Board Members Needed for MVCTC
The Miami Valley Career Technology Center located in Clayton Ohio is dedicated to providing premier
educational choices and advanced employment preparation for youth adults and organizations of the Miami
Valley MVCTC offers over 40 career technical programs for high school juniors and seniors and lifelong
learning opportunities for adult students in the Adult Education programs
The Ohio Revised Code contains new eligibility requirements to serve on the board of a Joint Vocational School
district such as Miami Valley Career Technology Center Under previous law the local school board appointed a
local school board member to serve on the MVCTC board The law now requires that the Tipp City BOE seek
candidates who have experience as CFOs CEOs human resource managers and other professionals qualified to
discuss local labor needs These individuals should also understand the skills training and education needed for
current and future employment opportunities in the state
The purpose of this new legislation is to improve business community engagement better align educational
programs with state labor needs and reduce potential conflicts of interest
The law requires that most members of the MVCTC board reside in or be employed within the territory being
served by MVCTC It also requires that board members be selected based on the diversity of the employers in the
territory Board members must also have the professional credentials that lend themselves to understanding the
statersquos workforce It is a 3-year term on the board with the option to renew the term for an additional three years
if approved by the local school board Board members receive compensation at a rate of $125 per meeting
The Tipp City school board is seeking qualified candidates to serve on the MVCTC board Please submit your

The Miami Valley Career Technology Center located in Clayton Ohio is dedicated to providing premier
educational choices and advanced employment preparation for youth adults and organizations of the Miami
Valley MVCTC offers over 40 career technical programs for high school juniors and seniors and lifelong
learning opportunities for adult students in the Adult Education programs
The Ohio Revised Code contains new eligibility requirements to serve on the board of a Joint Vocational School
district such as Miami Valley Career Technology Center Under previous law the local school board appointed a
local school board member to serve on the MVCTC board The law now requires that the Tipp City BOE seek
candidates who have experience as CFOs CEOs human resource managers and other professionals qualified to
discuss local labor needs These individuals should also understand the skills training and education needed for
current and future employment opportunities in the state
The purpose of this new legislation is to improve business community engagement better align educational
programs with state labor needs and reduce potential conflicts of interest
The law requires that most members of the MVCTC board reside in or be employed within the territory being
served by MVCTC It also requires that board members be selected based on the diversity of the employers in the
territory Board members must also have the professional credentials that lend themselves to understanding the
statersquos workforce It is a 3-year term on the board with the option to renew the term for an additional three years
if approved by the local school board Board members receive compensation at a rate of $125 per meeting

The first session is at 830 at the TMS the following
sessions are at 1030 and 100 at the high school Think Before You Click is a cyber-security presentation that
explores cyber bullying sextortion cyber security and social media (including the impact that texting tweeting
photos and chats can have on a career) Hear the powerful candid message from Rick Mann Esquire
Board Members Needed for MVCTC
The Miami Valley Career Technology Center located in Clayton Ohio is dedicated to providing premier
educational choices and advanced employment preparation for youth adults and organizations of the Miami
Valley MVCTC offers over 40 career technical programs for high school juniors and seniors and lifelong
learning opportunities for adult students in the Adult Education programs
The Ohio Revised Code contains new eligibility requirements to serve on the board of a Joint Vocational School
district such as Miami Valley Career Technology Center Under previous law the local school board appointed a
local school board member to serve on the MVCTC board The law now requires that the Tipp City BOE seek
candidates who have experience as CFOs CEOs human resource managers and other professionals qualified to
discuss local labor needs These individuals should also understand the skills training and education needed for
current and future employment opportunities in the state
The purpose of this new legislation is to improve business community engagement better align educational
programs with state labor needs and reduce potential conflicts of interest
The law requires that most members of the MVCTC board reside in or be employed within the territory being
served by MVCTC It also requires that board members be selected based on the diversity of the employers in the
territory Board members must also have the professional credentials that lend themselves to understanding the
statersquos workforce It is a 3-year term on the board with the option to renew the term for an additional three years
if approved by the local school board Board members receive compensation at a rate of $125 per meeting
The Tipp City school board is seeking qualified candidates to serve on the MVCTC board Please submit your

Saturday Both the men and women ran to a first place finish Allison Sinning finished second overall with Hayley Brumfield Abby Halsey Emily Wolfe and Brinna Price finishing in the top 8 Mitchell Poynter finished 2nd overall with Daniel Frame Jay Schairbaum Jared Rindler and Tim Andrews all finishing in the top 18 Both teams will continue their march to state this Saturday at the Regional meet in Troy Girls run at 1145 am boys run at 215 pm

record In the teamrsquos tournament loss against Kenton Ridge Emily recorded 25 digs to bring her final total to 330 The previous record was 327
OHSAA FOUNDATION STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE Several Tippencanoe High School student athletes who exhibit leadership qualities or potential recently attended a one-day conference at Ohio State University The conference included several national keynote speakers and multiple sessions on subjects pertinent to todayrsquos young adults Among these topics ldquoThe Role of the Student Athleterdquo ldquoBullying and Hazingrdquo ldquoDeveloping Team Captainsrdquo ldquoHealthy Lifestylesrdquo and ldquoSportsmanshiprdquo Students received information on the OHSAA project ldquoCommunity Service and Your Schoolrdquo Left to right are Zack Blair Austin Robbins Halee Printz Megan Rittenhouse Aubrey Cox Mitchell Poynter and Jake Prall
