The bond strength between steel and concrete is maintained when the reinforcing bars are coated with Jotaguard RB, as proven by independent third-party testing houses. A test of three uncoated and three coated steel reinforcing bars was conducted by Valley Forge Laboratories with the result that the bond strength between concrete and reinforcing bars coated with Jotaguard RB 4003 was identical to that of uncoated bars.

Relative bond strength between concrete and steel was further verified by an independent engineering company Fugro-Suhaimi in 2013. They conducted pull-out tests and found that the mean relative bond strength of coated and uncoated steel reinforcing bars is similar. Fugro-Suhaimi concluded that reinforcing bar coated with Jotaguard RB 4003 satisfies the specification of the relative bond strength as per ASTM A775-97 requirements.
