    bidges. Bridge building steel should possess high strength and toughness to bear the

    According to the ULSAB (Ultra Light Steel Auto Body) of International Iron and Steel

    Institution, steel with yield strenth between 210~550MPa is high strengh steel (HSS),

    while steel with yield strength higher than 550MPa is ultra high strength steeel (UHSS).

    High strength steel also can be classified by strengthening mechanism into ordinary high

    strength steel and AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steel).

    Ordinary high strength steels include C-Mn steel, BH steel (baking-hardened), HSS-IF

    steel (interstitial free), and HSLA steel (high strength low alloy). AHSS steel mainly

    includes DP steel, TRIP steel, M steel, CP steel, HF steel, and TWIP steel. AHSS steel's

    yield strength is between 500-1500MPa, with good property of energy absorption. Thus,

    AHSS steel plays an important role in automobile lightening and safety performance

    improving of automobiles. AHSS steel is widely applied in vehicle industry, mainly used for

    making vehicle structure components, safety components, and reinforcement

    components like A-B-C column, doorsill, front-bank bumper, door buffer beam, slide rail of

    Alloy structural steel is so called because this kind of steel contains certain other alloy

    elements, and it is applied for fabrication of machine parts and construction components.

    Alloy structural steel has proper hardenability. The microstructure becomes fine pearlitic,

    sorbite, bainite structure after proper steel heat treatment, thus having high tensile

    strength and yield ratio (average value 0.85), high toughness and fatigue strength, with

    lower ductile-brittle transition temperature, which makes is suitable for making machine

    parts with large sectional diamension.

    Alloy structural steel can be generally divided into quenched and tempered alloy

    structural steel and surface hardened alloy structural steel. The former is suitable for

    making shafts and connecting rods bearing large load; the latter is suitable for making

    components with hard and wear-resisting surface and soft heart, such as gears and

    shafts.

    High strength low alloy structural steel is steel added with certain alloying elements

    accounting for less than 5% in the melting process. Adding alloying elements can

    significantly improve the strength of steel, and the three major indexes of the steel

    Wear resistant steel plates have good properties of high strength/high wear

    resistant/stability/straightness/surface quality, etc. High hardness, highstrength, and

    Carbon structural steel: The carbon content of this kind of steel ranges from 0.05% to

    0.70%, and a very few steel grade carbon content can reach 0.90%. There are generally

    two categoriesof carbon structural steel: common carbon structural steel and high quality

    carbon structural steel.

    Common carbon structural steel: The carbon content is generally under 0.30%, and

    manganese content no more than 0.80%. Though strength of common carbon structural

    steel is low, its plasticity, toughness, and cold deformation is good. Usually it is used

    directly without heat treatment. Common carbon structural steel mainly used for

    railway/bridge/construction, and for making various common components not requiring

    heat treatment.

    High quality carbon structural steel:high quality carbon structural steel According to its

    carbon content and different use, this kind of steel is roughly divided into three types: ①

    low carbon steel with carbon content of less than 0.25%: the presentatives of this kind of

    steel are 08F, 08Al whose carbon content is less than 0.10%. These two types of steel

    Weathering resistant steel, namely atmospheric corrosion resistant steel, belongs to the

    low alloy steel series between common steel and stainless steel. Weathering resistant

    steel is made from common steel by adding a small amount of corrosion resistant

    elements such as copper and nickel. It has the properties of high quality steel like good

    toughness, plasticity, mouldability, weldability, and resistance to corrosion, high

    temperature and abrasion; weather resistance is 2~8 times than common carbon steel;

    and coating performance is 1.5~10 times than common carbon steel. Besides, weathering

    resistant steel has good resistance to rust, can highly improve the performance and

    extend service life of structure parts, thus is used to make structural parts used in open

    atmospheres, corrosive gas and liquid environment.

    Weathering resistant steel is mainly used to build structural parts of containers, railway

    vehicles, oil derricks, seaport buildings, oil production platforms and vessels containing

    H2S corrosion medium in petro-chemical equipment.
