VI. SHORING:

1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE SHORING, BRACING OR SUPPORT UNTIL ALL STRUCTURAL

MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND ACCEPTED FOR THEIR INTENDED USE.

2. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE EOR OF ALL DANGEROUS CONDITIONS IDENTIFIED DURING THE

WORK AND NOT ADDRESSED BY THESE SHORING PLANS.

3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ERECTION OF ALL SHORING.

4. EACH BREEZEWAY SHORING POST CAPACITY SHALL BE MIN. OF 6.25 KIP AT THE FULL SERVICE

HEIGHT.

5. EACH BALCONY SHORING POST CAPACITY SHALL BE MIN. OF 3.6 KIP AT THE FULL SERVICE HEIGHT.

6. LOADS:

ROOF DEAD LOAD: 30 PSF

ROOF LIVE LOAD: 20 PSF

BALCONY DEAD LOAD: 10 PSF

BALCONY LIVE LOAD: NA - ACCESS TO BALCONIES RESTRICTED.

V. SHORING SAFETY:

1. EVERYONE'S SAFETY DEPENDS UPON THE PROPER ERECTION AND SAFE USE OF SHORING.

INSPECT YOUR SHORING BEFORE EACH USE TO SEE THAT THE ASSEMBLY HAS NOT BEEN

ALTERED AND IS SAFE FOR YOUR USE.

2. POST THESE SHORING SAFETY RULES IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE AND BE SURE THAT ALL

PERSONS WHO ERECT, USE, OR DISMANTLE SHORING ARE AWARE OF THEM.

3. FOLLOW ALL STATE, LOCAL, AND FEDERAL CODES, ORDINANCES AND REGULATIONS PERTAINING

TO SHORING.

4. INSPECT ALL EQUIPMENT BEFORE USING. NEVER USE ANY EQUIPMENT THAT IS DAMAGED,

SEVERELY RUSTED, OR IS MISSING LOCKING DEVICES. ANY COMPONENT WHICH CANNOT BE

BROUGHT INTO PROPER ALIGNMENT OR CONTACT WITH THE COMPONENT INTO OR ONTO WHICH IT

IS INTENDED TO FIT SHALL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED.

5. A SHORING LAYOUT SHALL BE AVAILABLE AND USED ON THE JOB SITE AT ALL TIMES.

6. INSPECT ERECTED SHORING AND FORMING FOR CONFORMITY WITH LAYOUT AND SAFETY

PRACTICES.

7. CONSULT DELTA ENGINEERING WHEN IN DOUBT.

8. ONCE COMPLETED, SHORING MUST BE INSPECTED BY DELTA EVERY 6 MONTHS OR UNTIL

PERMANENT REPAIRS ARE MADE.

III. SHORING NOTES (EXISTING):

1. THIS LAYOUT WAS DEVELOPED FROM LIMITED INFORMATION AND MAY VARY DUE TO ACTUAL FIELD

CONDITIONS. CONTACT E.O.R. FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO MODIFYING.

2. CONTRACTOR SHALL CHECK AND VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS AND ELEVATIONS PRIOR TO ERECTION

OF ANY EQUIPMENT.

3. SHORING POSTS ARE DESIGNED FOR VERTICAL LOADING ONLY AND AS SUCH SHALL NOT BE

RELIED UPON TO PROVIDE LATERAL SUPPORT OR STABILITY TO THE EXISTING STRUCTURE AS

MODIFICATIONS ARE MADE.

4. THIS LAYOUT WAS DEVELOPED FROM LIMITED INFORMATION REGARDING THE SEQUENCE OF

WORK FOR DEMOLITION AND NEW CONSTRUCTION. IT SHALL BE THE USERS RESPONSIBILITY TO

ERECT/DISMANTLE SHORING IN A MANNER AS NOT TO OVERLOAD ANY SHORING COMPONENTS

AND TO MAINTAIN SAFE SUPPORT FOR THE EXISTING STRUCTURE AS REQUIRED.

5. POST SHORES SHALL BE PLUMB. BRACE ALL POST SHORES IN THE HORIZONTAL, DIAGONAL AND

TRANSVERSE DIRECTIONS. SECURE POST SHORES AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM.

6. INSTALL POST SHORES WITHIN 12" OF EXISTING COLUMN.

VI. MATERIALS:

1. BREEZEWAY SHORING POST: 6X6 SYP No.2

2. BREEZEWAY SHORING POST SCREW JACK: 6X6 ELLIS SCREW JACK (ITEM # SJ-6)

3. BREEZEWAY SHORING POST TO BEAM CONNECTION: 6X6 ELLIS PURLIN SPACER JACK (ITEM # PS-6)

4. BALCONY SHORING POST: 4X4 SYP No. 2

I. GENERAL NOTES:

1. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CURRENT APPLICABLE

FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, EXCEPT WHERE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CONTRACT

DOCUMENTS OR OF GOVERNING CODES AND GOVERNING AUTHORITIES ARE MORE

STRINGENT.

2. THESE DRAWINGS SHALL BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION

PLANS, PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS (IF PROVIDED), AND THE EXISTING CONDITIONS.

3. DIMENSIONS AND EXISTING CONDITIONS SHALL BE FIELD VERIFIED. DISCREPANCIES

SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER OF RECORD BEFORE

PROCEEDING WITH THE AFFECTED PART OF THE WORK.

4. THE CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLIANCE WITH APPLICABLE LOCAL

STATE AND FEDERAL ORDINANCES.

5. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL DEMOLITION PROCEDURES, INCLUDING

LAGGING, SHORING AND PROTECTION OF OWNERS PROPERTY, ADJACENT PROPERTY,

STRUCTURES, STREETS, UTILITIES, AS WELL AS ANY MATERIAL TESTING WHICH MAY BE

REQUIRED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ASBESTOS AND LEAD PAINT TESTING.

6. UNLESS SPECIFICALLY NOTED OTHERWISE ON THESE DRAWINGS, NO PROVISION HAS

BEEN MADE IN THE DESIGN FOR CONDITIONS OCCURRING DURING CONSTRUCTION. THE

CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY BRACING AND SHORING REQUIRED FOR

ALL LOADS AND INSTABILITY OCCURRING DURING CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR

SHALL ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL SUCH MEASURES.

7. IF INFORMATION IS MISSING OR IN CONFLICT WITH THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATION THE

CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE ENGINEER OF RECORD FOR CLARIFICATIONS OR

RESOLUTION. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT PROCEED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF

STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS WHERE DETAILS ARE NOT CLEAR.

8. THE OWNER SHALL PROVIDE ELECTRICITY AND WATER ACCESS TO THE CONTRACTOR

UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED OR OTHERWISE AGREED UPON.

9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE SAFETY BARRIERS AT THE PERIMETER OF THE WORK

AREAS TO PREVENT ACCESS AND SHALL KEEP THE BARRIERS IN PLACE UNTIL THE

AFFECTED AREA HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE WASTE RECEPTACLES AND SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE

FOR ALL CONSTRUCTION WASTE REMOVAL. ALL DEBRIS AROUND AFFECTED AREAS

SHALL BE CLEANED AND REMOVED DAILY PRIOR TO LEAVING THE JOB SITE.

11. PROPOSED CHANGES AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION OR SUBSTITUTIONS SHALL BE

SUBMITTED TO THE ENGINEER OF RECORD AND REVIEWED FOR APPROVAL BEFORE

CHANGES IN THE FIELD CAN PROCEED.

12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY WRITTEN NOTIFICATION TO THE OWNER COVERING

ADDITION, DELETION OR REVISION IN THE AGREED SCOPE OF WORK AND SHALL NOT

PROCEED UNTIL WRITTEN APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER HAS BEEN ISSUED AND

APPROVED.

13. AT THE COMPLETION OF THE REPAIR WORK, THE AFFECTED AREAS SHALL BE REPAIRED

TO MATCH EXISTING.

14. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN THE FOLLOWING:

RECORD OF QUANTITIES OF MATERIAL USED AND ALL RECORDS SHALL SUBMIT TO

ENGINEER ALONG WITH THE REQUEST OF PAYMENT.

LOCATION OF MATERIALS MARKED ON PLANS (IF REQUESTED BY OWNER)

PHOTOGRAPH DOCUMENTING THE REPAIR IN EACH AREA (IF REQUESTED BY

ENGINEER)

II. SCOPE OF WORK:

1. INSTALL PROTECTION, I.E. DROP CLOTHS, PROTECTION BOARD, AND PLASTIC SHEETING AT ALL

AREAS SURROUNDING THE AREA OF WORK TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE PROPERTY. PROTECTION

SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE INSTALLATION OF PROTECTION AT FLOOR SURFACES IN

THE AREAS OF WORK AS WELL AS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO INSTALLING PLASTIC

PROTECTION AT GLAZING ASSEMBLIES, RAILINGS, AND OTHER COMPONENTS ADJACENT TO THE

AREA OF WORK WHICH MAY BE AFFECTED.

2. STAGING, SCAFFOLDING, SHORING, AND/OR OTHER METHODS WILL BE REQUIRED AS NEEDED TO

FACILITATE THE WORK. THE STAGING SHALL REMAIN IN PLACE FOR USE BY THE INSPECTORS.

3. PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF THE WORK, COORDINATE ADHESION TESTING AND COMPATIBILITY

EVALUATIONS FOR ALL MATERIALS (SEALANTS, DECK MEMBRANE, ADHESIVES) AT EACH UNIQUE.

SUBSTRATE.

4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM A MOCK-UP DECK OF THE REQUIRED WORK PRIOR TO

PROCEEDING WITH OTHERS.

REQUIRED MOCK-UP:

MEMBRANE STEPPED MOCK-UP

DOOR THRESHOLD FLASHING

DECK TO WALL FLASHING

WATER / FLOOD TEST DECK FOR POSTIVE DRAINAGE AND LEAKAGE PRIOR TO INSTALLING

CEILING

5. APPROVED MOCK-UP SHALL REMAIN IN PLACE AND ESTABLISH THE GUIDELINES FOR ACCEPTABLE

INSTALLATION OF WORK AND ACCEPTABLE APPEARANCE.

6. CONDITION ASSESSMENT OF WOOD MEMBERS:

REMOVE EXISTING COVER MATERIAL INCLUDING: TRIM AND CEMENT BOARD AND SECTIONS OF

CEILING BOARD TO EXPOSE BEAMS, JOISTS, POSTS, HANGERS, AND BLOCKING.

UPON THE REMOVAL OF THE EXISTING CEILING PANELS, A SURVEY TO ASSESS THE CONDITION

OF EXISTING BALCONY WOOD FRAMING AND SHALL BE CONDUCTED:

THE EXPOSED FRAMING MEMBERS SHALL BE ASSESSED, AND DAMAGE CONFIRMED THROUGH

VISUAL OBSERVATIONS AND BY PROBING THE TIMBER WITH A TOOL SUCH AS AN AWL, PICK, OR

DULL SCREW DRIVER BY JABBING THE MEMBER WITH THE PROBE AND PRYING DOWN. THE

RESISTANCE TO THE PROBE AND THE CONDITION OF THE PRIED SPLINTERS CAN THEN BE

EVALUATED. SOUND WOOD IS DENSE AND HARD AND WHEN PRIED WILL BREAK INTO LONG

SPLINTERS. DAMAGED WOOD IS SOFT AND BRITTLE AND WILL BREAK INTO SHORT SPLINTERS.

THE WOOD MEMBERS SHALL BE CONSIDERED DAMAGED, REQUIRING REPAIR AND/OR

REPLACEMENT IF THE INTEGRITY OF TIMBER HAS BEEN COMPROMISED BY INSECT, WOOD

DECAY DUE TO MOISTURE, VERMIN, OR OTHER WOOD DESTROYING ORGANISMS TO THE EXTENT

THAT THE MEMBER WOULD NOT BE PERMISSIBLE FOR USE IN NEW CONSTRUCTION.

THESE AREAS WILL BE SPRAY MARKED IN THE FIELD BY THE CONTRACTOR. THE CONTRACTOR

SHALL CONTACT THE ENGINEER FOR CONDITION AND REPAIR VERIFICATION.

INSTALL SHORING IF BEAM AND / OR JOIST DAMAGE EXISTS PER ENGINEER.

REPLACE OR REPAIR DAMAGED WOOD MEMBERS BASED ON THE CRITERIA IDENTIFIED IN THE

CONDITION ASSESSMENT AS PER THESE PLANS AND DETAILS.

7. REMOVE EXISTING DECKING SYSTEM INCLUDING: WOOD PLANKING, SLEEPERS, SHEATHING,

UNDERLAYMENT, FLASHING, AND EDGE METALS TO EXPOSE THE DECK FRAMING MEMBERS.

8. SECTIONALLY REMOVE EXISTING RAILING ASSEMBLY INCLUDING: PICKETS, RAILS AND TRIM

BOARDS FACILITATE THE REPAIRS (IF REQUIRED). RAILING SECTIONS TO BE REFASTENED TO

STRUCTURE.
