Proposal writing tips• Answer the question !• Always assume the reader knows very little• Use the appraisal scoring form to check you have answered all sections

fully• Accurate information. Read again and ask have you explained statements

clearly• Adapt content and style to the funding programme• The right font – follow the guidance• Presentation:- Keep language simple and avoid jargon- Layout is key. Reviewers will have tired eyes so make it easier for them !

funders/clients needs and how you can solve their problems.

FOCUSSED ANSWERS NOT STORY TELLING• Answer each question and cover all areas usually specified in the funders

scoring criteria and focus on these points• If the client is looking for a very specific service respond only with

information about that service. STOP yourself from story telling• SMART objectives and clear timescale/milestones/outcomes.

there is a gap in your provision draw attention away, use of diagrams and images.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE• Provide case studies/previous experience that are relevant eg sector

match, company/organisation size (SME, large, public, charity) match• Ensure you have the right team for the right job. Tailor CVs if necessary.
