GENERAL INFORMATION:• This product mixes readily with water and is

intended to be applied as a foliar spray for the con-trol or destruction of many herbaceous or woodyplants. It may be applied through most standardindustrial or field-type sprayers after dilution andthorough mixing with water in accordance withlabel instructions.

• This product moves through the plant from the pointof foliage contact to and into the root system.Visible effects on most annual weeds occur within 2 to 4 days, but on most perennial weeds may notoccur for 7 days or more. Extremely cool or cloudyweather following treatment may slow activity of thisproduct and delay visual effects of control.

• Visible effects are gradual wilting and yellowing ofthe plant which advances to complete browning ofabove-ground growth and deterioration of under-ground plant parts. Unless otherwise specified onthis label, delay application until vegetation hasemerged and reached the growth stages describedfor control. Unemerged plants arising from unat-tached underground rhizomes or root stocks ofperennials will not be affected by the herbicide andwill continue to grow. For this reason, best controlof most perennial weeds is obtained when treat-ment is made at late growth stages approachingmaturity.

• Always use the higher rate of this product per acrewithin the recommended range when weed growthis heavy or dense.

• Do not treat weeds under poor growing conditionssuch as drought stress, disease or insect damage,as reduced weed control may result. Reducedresults may also occur when treating weeds heavilycovered with dust.

• Reduced control may result when applications aremade to annual or perennial weeds that have beenmowed, grazed, or cut, and have not been allowedto regrow to the recommended stage for treatment.

• Rainfall or irrigation occurring within 6 hours afterapplication may reduce effectiveness. Heavy rainfallor irrigation within 2 hours after application may

wash the chemical off the foliage and a repeat treat-ment may be required.

• This product does not provide residual weedcontrol. For subsequent residual weed control, follow a label-approved herbicide program. Readand carefully observe the cautionary statementsand all other information appearing on the labels ofall herbicides used.

• Buyer and all users are responsible for all loss ordamage in connection with the use or handling ofmixtures of this product with herbicides or othermaterials that are not expressly recommended inthis labeling. Mixing this product with herbicides orother materials not recommended on this label mayresult in reduced performance.

• For best results, spray coverage should be uniformand complete.

USE PRECAUTIONS:• AVOID DRIFT. EXTREME CARE MUST BE USED

WHEN APPLYING THIS PRODUCT TO PREVENTINJURY TO DESIRABLE PLANTS AND CROPS.

• Do not allow the herbicide solution to mist, drip, drift or splash onto desirable vegetation sinceminute quantities of this product can cause severedamage or destruction to the crop, plants, or otherareas on which treatment was not intended.

• The likelihood of injury occurring from the use ofthis product is greatest when winds are gusty or inexcess of 5 mi les per hour or when otherconditions, including lesser wind velocities, willallow spray drift to occur. When spraying, avoidcombinations of pressure and nozzle types that willresult in splatter or fine particles (mist) which arelikely to drift.

• AVOID APPLYING AT EXCESSIVE SPEED ORPRESSURE.

• NOTE: Use of this product in any manner notconsistent with this label may result in injury topersons, animals or crops, or other unintendedconsequences. Keep container closed to preventspills and contamination.

SPRAY PREPARATION:Pondmaster® Surface & Shoreline Herbicide is asoluble concentrate that dissolves readily in cleanwater (free of mud or clay). Reduced results mayoccur if water containing soil is used, such as waterfrom ponds or unlined ditches.Additional surfactants are not required for thisformulation.

Pondmaster® Surface & Shoreline Alone With Water As Diluent:Determine spray volume needed for the treated area.Add one-half the required amount of clean water tothe spray tank.Measure the recommended amount of product andadd Pondmaster® Surface & Shoreline slowly withagitation, and complete filling the tank with water.Mix thoroughly and continue agitation while spraying.Sprayer Cleanup: CLEAN THE ENTIRE SPRAYERAFTER APPLICATION OF THIS PRODUCT. Failure toclean the sprayer thoroughly may result in injury todesirable crops which are subsequently sprayed.

APPLICATION EQUIPMENT AND TECHNIQUES:Do not apply this product through any type of irriga-tion system.

This product may be applied with the following appli-cation equipment:• Hand-held and high-volume spray equipment –

pump-up pressure sprayers, knapsack and back-pack sprayers, sprayguns, handwands, lances andother hand-held and motorized spray equipmentused to direct the spray onto weed foliage.Applications should be made on a spray-to-wetbasis, spray coverage should be uniform andcomplete. Use only coarse sprays.

• Ground equipment – Power sprayers fitted with aboom or spray wand/gun may be used for broad-cast applications and spot treatments. For bestspray distribution and coverage, select a sprayvolume and delivery system that will ensure

accurate and uniform coverage. Boom sprayersequipped with appropriate flat fan nozzles, tips, andscreens are suitable for broadcast applications. Spray volumes of 3-30 gallons per acre with spraypressures adjusted to 20-40 psi are appropriate.Use higher spray volumes within the recom-mended range for dense weed populations.

• Controlled droplet appIicator (CDA) – The rate ofthis product applied per acre by vehicle-mountedCDA equipment must not be less than the amountrecommended in this label when applied by con-ventional broadcast equipment. For vehicle-mounted CDA equipment, apply 3 to 15 gallons ofwater per acre. Do not apply as a fine mist. Usecoarse sprays only.Controlled droplet application equipment producesa spray pattern which is not easily visible.Extreme care must be exercised to avoid spray ordrift contacting the foliage or any other greentissue of desirable vegetation, as damage ordestruction may result.

• Selective equipment – Recirculating sprayers, shielded and hooded sprayers, wiper applicatorsand sponge bars.

• Wiper applicators and sponge bars – Wiper appli-cators are devices that physically wipe appropriateamounts of this product directly onto the weed.

• Rope or sponge wick applicators – Apply thisproduct undiluted (100% solution) to weeds listedon this label.

• Porous-Plastic Applicators – Apply this productundiluted (100% solution) in porous-plastic wiperapplicators.

Generally, the lower application rates within the speci-fied range will provide satisfactory control of sensi-tive weed species. The higher application rates withinthe specified range will be required for dense infesta-tions, for adverse/extreme environmental conditions,or for weeds beyond the appropriate growth stages.

Specific use recommendations for certain perennialweeds are presented in the following section andTable 3 (page 10).• Apply to actively growing perennial weeds. • Best results are obtained when soil moisture is

adequate for active weed growth. • Unless otherwise directed, allow at least 7 days

after application before disturbing vegetation. • NOTE: If weeds have been mowed or tilled, do not

treat until plants have resumed active growth andhave reached the recommended stages.

• Fall treatments must be applied before a killingfrost.

• Repeat treatments may be necessary to controlweeds regenerating from underground parts orseed. When applied as recommended under theconditions described, this product will provide fullor partial control for the following perennial weeds:

AQUATIC AND NONCROP SITES:Aquatic sites and wetlands:This product may be applied to emerged weeds, woody brush and trees in all bodies of fresh andbrackish water which may be flowing, non-flowing, ortransient. This includes lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, estuaries, rice levees, seeps, irrigation and drainageditches, canals, reservoirs, wastewater treatmentfacilities, wildlife habitat restoration and managementareas, and similar sites including the following:

• Aquatic food crop: Agricultural drainage systems, irrigation systems, lakes/ponds/reservoirs (withhuman or wildlife use) stream/rivers/channeledwater, drainage ditches, canals, irrigation ditches, estuaries.

• Aquatic non-food industrial: aquatic areas/water,drainage systems, waste water systems.

• Aquatic non-food outdoor: aquatic areas/water,ditches, ditch banks.

This product may be used in and around water andwetlands found near power, telephone and pipelinerights-of-way sites, including where these sites areadjacent to or surrounding domestic water supplyreservoirs, supply streams, lakes and ponds.

If aquatic sites are present in the non-crop area andare part of the intended treatment, read and observethe following directions:

This product does not control plants which are com-pletely submerged or have a majority of foliageunder water.

There is no restriction on the use of treated water forirrigation, recreation, or domestic purposes.

Consult local State fish and game agency and localpublic water control authorities before applying thisproduct in and around public waters. Permits may berequired to treat in such areas.

NOTE: Do not apply this product within 1/2 mileupstream of an active potable water intake in flowingwater (i.e. river, stream, etc.) or within 1/2 mile of an

active potable water intake in a standing body ofwater such as lake, pond, or reservoir. To makeaquatic applications around and within 1/2 mile ofactive potable water intakes the water intake must beturned off for a minimum period of 48 hours after theapplication. The water intake may be turned on priorto 48 hours if the glyphosate level in the intake wateris below 0.7 parts per million as determined bylaboratory analysis. These aquatic applications maybe made ONLY in those cases where there are alter-native water sources or holding ponds which wouldpermit the turning off of an active potable waterintake for a minimum period of 48 hours after theapplications. This restriction does not apply to inter-mittent inadvertent overspray of water in terrestrialuse sites.

For treatments after drawdown of water or in dryditches, allow 7 or more days after treatment beforereintroduction of water to achieve maximum weedcontrol. Apply this product within 1 day after draw-down to ensure application to actively growingweeds.

Floating mats of vegetation may require retreatment.Avoid wash-off of sprayed foliage by spray boat orrecreational boat backwash or by rainfall within 6 hours of application. Do not retreat within 24 hoursfollowing the initial treatment. Applications made tomoving bodies of water must be made while travelingupstream to prevent concentration of this herbicide inwater. When making any bankside applications, donot overlap more than 1 foot into open water. Do notspray in bodies of water where weeds do not exist.

The maximum application rate of 3.3 gallons of prod-uct per acre must not be exceeded in any singlebroadcast application that is being made over water.

When emerged infestations require treatment of thetotal surface area of impounded water, treating thearea in strips may avoid oxygen depletion due todecaying vegetation. Oxygen depletion may result infish kill.

WILDLIFE HABITAT RESTORATION ANDMANAGEMENT AREAS:This product is recommended for the restorationand/or maintenance of native habitat and in wildlifemanagement areas.

Habitat restoration and maintenance:When applied as directed, exotic and other undesir-able vegetation may be controlled in habitat manage-ment areas. Applications may be made to allowrecovery of native plant species, to open up water toattract waterfowl, and for similar broad-spectrumvegetation control requirements in habitat manage-ment areas.

Spot treatments may be made to selectively removeunwanted plants for habitat enhancement. For spottreatments, care should be exercised to keep sprayoff of desirable plants.

Wildlife food plots:This product may be used as a site preparation treat-ment prior to planting wildlife food plots. Apply asdirected to control vegetation in the plot area. Anywildlife food species may be planted after applyingthis product, or native species may be allowed toreinfest the area. If tillage is needed to prepare aseedbed, wait 7 days after applying this productbefore tilling to allow for maximum effectiveness.

CUT STUMP APPLICATION:Cut stump treatments are effective on stumps withdiameters larger than 3-4 inches in diameter. Woodyvegetation may be controlled by treating freshly cutstumps of trees and resprouts with this product.Apply this product using suitable equipment toensure coverage of the entire cambium. Cut vegeta-tion close to the soil surface. Apply a 100% solution(undiluted) of this product to freshly cut surfaceimmediately after cutting. Treat the entire circumfer-ence of the stump by drenching the cambium (theoutermost wood between the pith and the bark).Delay in applying this product may result in reducedperformance. For best results, trees should be cut

during periods of active growth and full leaf expan-sion. The most favorable period for cut stump treat-ment occurs after full leaf stage in the spring andcontinues into early summer. Brush and trees treatedin the late fall may not be fully controlled.

When used according to directions for cut stumpapplication, this product will control, partially controlor suppress most woody brush and tree species, some of which are listed below:

Alder Alnus spp.Coyotebrush Baccharis pilularis* Dogwood Cornus spp.*Eucalyptus Eucalyptus spp.Hickory Carya spp.*Madrone Arbutus menziesiiMaple Acer spp.*Oak Quercus spp. Poplar Populus spp.*Reed, giant Arundo donaxSaltcedar Tamarix spp.Sweetgum Liquidambar styraciflua*Sycamore Platanus occidentalis*Tanoak Lithocarpus densiflorusWillow Salix spp.*This product is not approved for this use on thesespecies in the State of California.

INJECT AND FRILL APPLICATION:Woody vegetation may be controlled by injection orfrill application of this product. Apply this productusing suitable equipment which must penetrate intoliving tissue. Apply the equivalent of 3.5-4.0 ml of thisproduct per 2-3 inches of trunk diameter. This is bestachieved by apply ing a 100% concentrat ion(undiluted) of this product either to a continuous frillaround the tree or as cuts evenly spaced around thetree below all branches. As tree diameter increases insize, better results are achieved with a continuous frillor more closely spaced cuttings. • Avoid application techniques that allow runoff to

occur from frill or cut areas in species that exude sapfreely after frills or cutting. In species such as these,
