What is Drip Irrigation System• Method of irrigation that allows water to slowly drip directly to the
root systems of plants either to the surface of the soil or to the root zone through a system of valves, tubes or pipe, and emitters.
• Modern drip irrigation started in Afghanistan in 1866 when researchers used clay pots to experiment irrigation.
• It was introduced in the US in 1960 for the cultivation of potted plants.
