A growing disconnect from nature
Today’s kids are less connected to the outdoors than any previous generation.
Only 6 percent of children, ages nine to thirteen, play outside on their own
90 percent of inner-city kids do not know how to swim
34 percent have never been to the beach
6.5 hours a day spent watching screens
Six times more likely to play a computer game than ride a bike
Four times more likely to be obese than previous generation
Facing shorter lives – a decline of 2-5 years in average length of life from parents’ life expectation
