7 Day Casual Wine and Trekking Itinerary:

A Trip to Remember

Day 1 – Arrive at your Hotel in Rome and meet your guide around 12:30 before walking to a lovely lunch with your guide (on your own). After lunch, your guide will take you on a fantastic walk of the historic center of Rome, where we believe you will still hear the sounds of the ancient crowds as they gathered in this area every day. After your walk, you will be given an opportunity for some personal leisure time prior to meeting up with your guide for a terrific dinner at a local wine bar in Rome. Be sure to ask your guide for food and wine selections and be adventurous enough to try the most local specialties. Welcome to Italy!

Day 2 – We hope you had a good night’s rest, as this morning, we are headed out to visit the Vatican Museum and St. Peters Basilica with your guide. Don’t forget your camera, and ladies need to take care to dress appropriately for the tours (ask your guide for suggestions). After your tours of these famous landmarks, you will explore the area and choose a place to lunch on your own, which will be followed by an afternoon of shopping with your guide. (Be sure to ask where the best deals are!) We are sure you have worked up an appetite today, so enjoy yourself tonight at a fabulous dinner at a local Roman Trattoria.

Day 3 – Today as we head out this morning to visit the Roman Forum and Coliseum – many who visit are sure they can still hear the clash of swords, the roar of lions and the cheers of the crowd. After a lovely lunch on your own, your guide will take you for an afternoon of leisurely strolling through the centre of Rome, which will afford plenty of opportunity for shopping and a gelato stop. For our last evening in Rome before heading to Puglia, we will have a gorgeous dinner with a guided wine tasting.

Day 4 – Today you wake up in Rome, but you will go to sleep in Puglia, Alberobello to be exact. Your private coach will meet you at your hotel and shuttle you to the UNESCO world heritage site of Alberobello in Puglia! Upon arrival, your guide will meet you and take you to a local lunch of famous Pugliese fare. After lunch, we will meet local superstar, Mimmo, who will take you on a gorgeous walk of the town, and finally escort you to your home for the next three (3) nights, his bed and breakfast, the Trulli e Puglia. You will be staying in these really charming, historical trullo houses while in Alberobello. We know you have had a long day, so you are free to rest and relax and eat dinner on your own. See you in the morning!

Day 5 – Today, a private shuttle will take you on an unparalleled tour of the Itria Valley, which boasts limestone cliffs, white cites perched on cliffs, gleaming seas, quaint fishing villages, ancient farmhouses, and orchards and vineyards as far as the eye can see. Along the way, you will be able to stop and have lunch on your own at any of the wonderful restaurants. In the evening, your guide will take you to another great Pugliese dinner.....the orecchiette con le cime di rapa is a must!

Day 6 –We will continue on our tour of the Itria Valley before stopping at the amazing Masseria Liveli, where we will have lunch and taste some of Puglia’s most beautiful, up and coming wines. After our long lunch and tasting we will relax before dinner at a local restaurant famous for grilled meats and wines of the region. This is our last night in Puglia, so enjoy it to its fullest.

Day 7 – This morning, a private shuttle will first take us to Naples, where a guide will meet you to take you on a tour of the city and some amazing shopping and eating. We will stop for a world famous Naples pizza lunch, before bidding your guide farewell and heading back to where we started – Rome! Be sure to enjoy this last night in Italy on your own. Be sure to leave a coin in the Trevi Fountain, which legend promises that if you do so, you will return to Rome in the future. Have a safe journey home!
