Chapter 1 Introduction

SECTION 1 OVERVIEW

The SVRU2-based Meeting Center (NMC XMP) is a SIP/VoIP-based appliance that provides sophisticated audio conferencing, web collaboration, and dial out emergency conferencing (also known as Firebar) and Mass Notification applications. It integrates with SV9100® /SV9300® IP PBXs using SIP Trunks.

This document describes the process of installing and configuring a SVRU2-based Meeting Center system in the field in conjunction with NEC’s SV9100/SV9300 IP PBXs.

SECTION 2 MEETING CENTER PORT CAPACITY

The NMC XMP Port supports the following features functionality: Audio Conferencing, Web conferencing, Dial-out Firebar conferencing, Mass notification applications. To successfully activate the NMC XMP Solution, you must apply at least one of the SV91/93-NMC XMP-PORT LIC-08 license. If the 8 port license is not present at time of activation, single ports license will not be recognized and your activation will not be accepted.

During activation, additional 8 Port License or Add-On Ports may be applied up to 32 NMC XMP Port License.

One Audio Port is used by a participant when dialed into an Audio Conference and one Web Port is used by a participant when logged into a Web Conference.

2.1 Required Licensing

An NEC Associate/ Customer can order a GCD-SVRU2 blade and the desired number of system ports using the MasterQuote system. The license for the ordered system ports can be obtained from NEC’s License Management System (LMS).

The NMC XMP license is tied to SVRU’s MAC Address, (refer to Figure 1-1 The GCD-SVRU-2 Blade on page 1-2).

The inset indicates the location of the label showing the MAC address associated with the Eth0 port. In this example the MAC address shown is 00:02:6B:12:72:94

2.2 Obtaining the Application License

The NMC XMP Application license is based on the server’s MAC Address.

1. The associate will need to use the NEC’s LMS (License ManagementServer) to obtain the Application license file. The licensing process bindsthe MAC address to the Application port license. The licensing processwill result in the Associate downloading the associated .lic file on theLaptop PC.

2. The downloaded .lic file will need to be uploaded to the NMC XMP during the installation process. A sample license file associated with the SVRU-2 blade, shown in Figure 1-1 The GCD-SVRU-2 Blade, would be 1272940LXU1KXT-1.lic. Note that part of the license file name matches the least significant three octets of the MAC address.

2.3 SVRU-2 Hardware

The GCD-SVR2 specifications are:

Physical size: Standard SV9100/SV9300 blade form-factor

Processor: Intel Atom N2800 1.86GHz Dual Core

Memory: SO-DIMM socket for DDR3 SDRAM. Maximum of 4GB is supported. 800/1066Mhz, 204 pin.

SSD: SATA (mini-PCIe form factor)

Video: VGA - Maximum of 2048x1536 resolution

LAN: Two 10Base-T/100Base-TX/1000Base-T Ethernet RJ45 ports

USB: Four USB 2.0 ports

Shutdown Button: This is a momentary push button switch for a graceful shutdown of the GCD-SVR2. (It is also used for restarting the GCD-SVR2).

Solid on: audio conference processor is running.

Flashing: audio conference processor has failed.

Off: audio conference processor has been shut down.

Application 2 LED:

Solid on: phone extensions are defined and registered.

Flashing: phone extensions are defined and in the process of registering.

Off: No registrations are possible (no extensions defined).

Power: 6W maximum

For maximum upgrade capacities of the SV9100 GCD-SVR2 blade, refer to the SV9100 System Hardware Manual.

For maximum capacities of the GCD-SVR2 blade for the SV9300, refer to the SV9300 System Hardware Manual.

A maximum of three GCD-SVR2s can be installed per chassis.

When installing this blade:

1. Wear a grounding strap while handling the GCD-SVR2.

2. Install the GCD-SVR2 into a slot in the chassis.

IMPORTANT

This unit makes extensive use of CMOS technology and is very susceptible to static; extreme care must be taken to avoid static discharge when handling.

Chapter 2 Typical Deployment of the SVRU-2/XMC

SECTION 1 DEPLOYMENT

The SVRU-2 blade is installed into one of the available slots in the SV9100/SV9300 chassis. Refer to Figure 2-1 Installing the SVRU-2 Blade into Chassis.

The SVRU-2 blade only draws power from the chassis’s backplane and therefore can be considered as an external server that is connected to the SV9100/SV9300. The SVRU-2 blade when loaded with Centos 6.7 Operating System, XMP Media stack and Audio Conferencing, Web Conferencing, Firebar Conferencing and Mass Notification applications is called the Meeting Center (NMC XMP). Please refer to

The SV9100/SV9300 communicates with the NMC XMP over Standard SIP stations for the voice related applications: Audio conferencing, Firebar conferencing and Mass Notification. The NMC XMP communicates with local and remote PCs over the LAN data network for the Web Conferencing application.

SECTION 2 CUSTOMER SITE REQUIREMENTS

Table 2-1 Customer Site Requirements lists items that need to be provisioned on a typical NMC XMP system. This table should be completed before beginning the installation process. Names in ( ) are Parameter names that use the same value. In the instructions the Row Number will be shown in { } next to the Parameter Name.

The site network administrator will need to create a DNS entry that points the Admin GUI Hostname (e.g., nmc.acme.com) to the NMC XMP’s IP address (e.g., 10.1.1.246). This is needed to allow users outside the office to access the NMC XMP Web Portal by typing the hostname in the URL window of their browser.

SECTION 3 PREREQUISITES FOR NMC XMP INSTALLATION

The Associate should have following items before starting the NMC XMP installation process:

1. The SVRU-2 blade physically mounted in a SV9100/SV9300 Chassis.

2. The NMC XMP Application license file downloaded on a Laptop PC.

3. The SV9100 will require the appropriate number of System Resource Port license (0300) and IP station license (5111).

4. The SV9300 will require the appropriate number of Port capacity license and Standard SIP station license.

5. Table 2-1 Customer Site Requirements from Section 2 filled out.

6. DNS entry made pointing the NMC XMP’s Admin GUI Hostname to NMC XMP’s IP Address.

SECTION 4 INSTALLATION PROCESS

The SVRU-2 blade is shipped with the NMC XMP application software preloaded and with default network settings. The installation process allows an associate to:

1. Change the default network settings to those applicable to the site

2. Upload the NMC XMP Application license

3. Configure the NMC XMP system parameters

The chapters to follow detail the steps required for items 1, 2 and 3 above.

Chapter 3 Changing the Default Network Settings

SECTION 1 DESCRIPTION

This chapter provides the steps required for changing the default network settings to those applicable to the site, as per Table 2. Note, the NMC XMP ships with a default IP address of 192.168.0.207.

The associate can use his/her Laptop PC for making the changes to the network settings of the NMC. In order to do that, the associate will need to temporarily change the IP address of the laptop so that he/she can access the SVRU-2 over a directly connected Ethernet cable.

Change the TCP/IP settings of your Laptop. Refer to Figure 3-1 TCP/IP Settings.

Use your PC’s Start up menu to go to: Settings Network and Internet Ethernet Change Adapter Options Local Area Network Properties.

Next, connect an Ethernet cable between the network port on your Laptop and the port labeled Eth0 on the SVR-2 module.

Use a browser and go to http://192.168.0.207 and login as System Administrator.

Use following credentials to log in:

Account Name: admin

Password: admin

1.1 Changing the Network Settings

1. Go to Administration/Network Settings tab and enter the data from Table2-1 Customer Site Requirements on page 2-3.

2. Enter the Hostname, IP address, Gateway IP address, Subnet Mask IP Address, and the Primary and Secondary DNS IP addresses. Press Apply.

3. Next, enter the System Clock and Time zone information. Press Apply.

4. Next, enter the Email Relay related information, Press Apply.

5. Next, enter the NTP server URL. Press Apply.

6. Next, press Reboot for the new network settings to get configured on the NMC.

Now as the local networking parameters are configured on the NMC, disconnect the Ethernet cable between your laptop and the NMC and reconnect it to the local LAN. At this point you should be able to use any networked computer to access the NMC’s web portal.

Chapter 4 Uploading the Application License

SECTION 1 DESCRIPTION

The next step is to upload the NMC XMP application license and configure the system parameters. This will be done using NMC XMP’s Administrative Web Portal.

The following procedure shows how to upload the application license.

1. Open the web browser and enter http://10.1.1.246 in the address bar. This is the IP address of the NMC XMP that was assigned in the last chapter. The login page is displayed.

2. Login to the NMC XMP Administration Web Portal using the Account Name ’admin’ and password of ’admin’.

1.1 Applying the NMC XMP Application License

1. Click on ’Administration’ Menu and the select ’Licensing’.

2. Next, use ’Choose File’ to point to the license file on your PC and then click on ’Upload’.

The SVRU-2’s MAC address is also displayed on the web portal. The license file name contains 6 numerals that match the least significant 3 octets of the MAC address of the system. This helps an associate in determining that a correct license file pertaining to the SVRU-2 at hand is being loaded. The upload process takes approximately 3 minutes. After the license is uploaded successfully, the portal will self refresh and purchased number application ports will be displayed.

3. Next, configure system parameters associated with the NMC XMP applications.

Enter details as follows:

• System Description: Any name that you would like to provide to your system, e.g., ’Meeting Center’. This name is displayed on the system’s login page.

• Server Name: This should match the Host Name that you setup within the Webmin application. This is the URL that users will use to access the NMC XMP for administrative purposes as ’Admin’ or as a ’Moderator’.

• Dial-in Number: This is the telephone number that is dialed to access the NMC XMP audio conferencing application. This field appears in the iCal file as the number to dial to reach the NMC XMP.

• Time Zone: Specify the default time zone applicable to the NMC XMP.

• Upload New Logo: If you would like to replace the NEC Logo with your own logo or the customer’s, you may do so here. The Logo image to be imported should not be more than 120 pixels tall.

• Voice Settings: Enter appropriate voice settings for your configuration. Default originating number is used to populate the ’From’ field in outgoing SIP Invites.

• Resource Constraints: Specify any resource constraints you desire.

2.1 Setting up the NMC XMP SIP Extension

A Standard SIP extension is used for VoIP communication between the PBX and the NMC XMP. Go to the ’Circuit Groups’ tab and press the ’ADD’ button to add a new Circuit Group. The ’Add Circuit Group’ screen will appear. Assign a name for this circuit group, select ’SIP Extension’ in the Circuit Group Type field and input the IP Address of the SV9100/SV9300 IP PBX including the standard SIP extension registration port. (for example, 10.1.1.250:5070). You will also need to define the SIP extensions the NMC XMP should use when registering/connecting to the phone system for inbound and outbound calls.

2.6 SV9100 Integration Programming

The following steps are to be performed within SV9100 Web Pro or PC Pro. This will setup the SV9100 to support the NMC XMP Conference as well as other IP telephones. These instructions assume the correct IP and Resource licenses have already been uploaded to the system and that the default Standard SIP port (5070) and Payload (20ms) are used.

For this example extension 3101 – 3108 and department group 3 are used. These can be changed as needed for the actual installation system.

For the slot the SVRU2 is installed in set 90-61-01 to 3 (Server Blade). This is done so the slot is populated in Web Pro and PC Pro.

Set PRG 99-01-60 to 1 (On), this is for answer supervision messaging to standard SIP extensions.

Note both of these setting changes must be made via telephone programming.

If required, or when updated versions of software are provided, the following steps will allow you to upgrade your system.

1. Connect an Ethernet cable between the network port on your Laptop and port labeled Eth0 on the SVRU-2 blade.

Use a browser and go to http://192.168.0.207:10000. The Login to Webmin page will be displayed.

Login to Webmin portal using following credentials:

Username: confguest

Password: itworks

2. Select System Software Packages.

3. In the Search for Package field, enter xop and click on the Search for Package: button.

Appendix B Changing the Default Network Settings with WebMin

SECTION 1 DESCRIPTION

This chapter provides the steps required for changing the default network settings to those applicable to the site, as per Table 2. Note, the NMC XMP ships with a default IP address of 192.168.0.207.

The associate can use his/her Laptop PC for making the changes to the network settings of the NMC. In order to do that, the associate will need to temporarily change the IP address of the laptop so that he/she can access the SVRU-2 over a directly connected Ethernet cable.

Change the TCP/IP settings of your Laptop. Refer to Figure B-1 TCP/IP Settings.

Use your PC’s Start up menu to go to: Settings Network and Internet Ethernet Change Adapter Options Local Area Network Properties.

4. Next, select ’Routing and Gateways’ from the Network Configuration Menu and setup the default Gateway address. Save your setup and then return to the Network Configuration Menu by pressing the ’Module Index’ at top of screen.

2.1 Rebooting the NMC XMP using Webmin

Reboot the server for new network settings to take effect. For that, go to System > Boot up and Shutdown select ’Reboot System’ at the bottom of the list. See below:

Confirm the Reboot System by clicking on the Reboot System button

Once the system has rebooted, proceed to Section 2.2 Adjusting the System Time Zone. Please note after the reboot that the new IP address and all other network changes will be in effect.

At this point the associate will need to remove the Ethernet cable between the laptop and the SVRU-2 blade and reset the TCP/IP settings of the Laptop so that the SVRU-2 can be accessed over the site’s network. Also, the SVRU’s Eth0 port should now be connected to the site’s Ethernet switch.

Next, additional server settings will be changed by logging into the Webmin portal again, however, as the SVRU-2’s IP has changed now you will need to go to http://10.1.1.246:10000.

The system time zone is set to UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) by default. It should be adjusted to match the time zone of the customer.

1. Select ’Change time zone’ tab under ’Hardware’ > ’System Time’ fromthe Menu on the left side.

2. After selecting the desired time zone, click ’Save’.

Next click on the Time Server Sync tab to configure the NTP Time Server Address {9}. Enter the NTP Time Server Address and select a Synchronization schedule.

Note: ’pool.ntp.org’ is a public NTP server. Some organizations may have their own NTP server. In that case, please contact the network administrator for the correct NTP server address.

Your NMC XMP should normally be configured to use Network Timing Protocol (NTP), which is configured under ’Time server sync’, to keep the system clock synchronized and accurate. However, in case NTP server is not accessible the server time can be adjusted manually as shown below.

1. Go to ’Hardware’ > ’System Time’ and then adjust the settings asdesired.

Set to Yes and then select a time for the clock to synchronize each day. In this example, 2:15am.

2. Click ’Apply’ or ’Save’ as appropriate.

2.5 POSTFIX Configuration

For applications that require sending emails (e.g., iCal invitations), the NMC XMP uses Postfix email server.

2.5.1 Configure Postfix as a Stand-alone machine

Postfix should work out of the box without change on a stand-alone machine that has direct Internet access.

2.5.2 Configure Postfix to Send Mail using an External SMTP Server

In this section, you will configure a Postfix server to send email through your external mail server.

1. Open or create the /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd file, using your

favorite text editor:

a. Issue command: “vi /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd”

2. Add your destination (SMTP Host), username, and password in

the following format:

File: /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd

a. [mail.isp.example] username:password

If you want to specify a non-default TCP Port (such as 587), then use the following format:

b. [mail.isp.example]:587 username:password

3. Create the hash db file for Postfix by running the postmap

command:

a. Issue command: "postmap /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd"

b. Verify that new sasl_passwd.db has been created under the

/etc/postfix/ folder:

/etc/postfix/sasl_passwd.db

4. Edit /etc/postfix/main.cf with your favorite editor

a. Issue command: “vi /etc/postfix/main.cf”

5. Configure the Relay Server:

a. Uncomment and modify to /etc/postfix/main.cf file:

# specify SMTP relay host

relayhost = [mail.isp.example]:587 (replace 587 with your ISP

SMTP port)

b. Add the following code to the end of /etc/postfix/main.cf file:

# enable SASL authentication

smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes

# disallow methods that allow anonymous authentication

smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous

# where to find sasl_passwd

smtp_sasl_password_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/sasl_passwd

# Enable STARTTLS encryption

smtp_use_tls = yes

# where to find CA certificates

smtp_tls_CAfile = /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt

6. Save your changes to /etc/postfix/main.cf file.

7. Restart Postfix:

a. Issue command: "service postfix restart"

2.5.3 Testing Postfix

1. Configure NMC XMP to send email:

a. Launch NMC XMP server, select Manage Services and login

with UID/PWD as ’admin./.admin’

b. From Service menu, select Conference, and then click on

the default conference for ’nuser’.

c. In Output Media tab, check Send Email Text, add email body

(Ex.’This is the test email’)

d. Click ’Submit’ to save.

2. Add a test email address:

a. Open Ad-hoc Members tab and add a member with a test

email.

b. Click ’Submit’ to save.

3. Open the Conference for nuser again, and then click the ’Send

Now’ button.

a. Verify the NMC XMP server sends email text to the user

mailbox.
