Permanent job vacancies areon the rise according to thelatest Reed Job Index figuresNEW permanent jobs are growing fasterthan temporary or contract vacancies, asconfidence continues to grow amongst UKemployers, according to the latest figuresreleased by reed.co.uk.So far in 2014, the number of permanent
jobs available has grown by more than 21per cent compared to the 2013 average. Atthe same time, temporary jobs and contractpositions have both risen by 16 per cent.More than 555,000 permanent and 88,000
temporary jobs have been advertised onreed.co.uk since the start of the year, while62,000 contract positions have been offered.
Overall, April saw new jobs in the UKgrow by 28 per cent year-on-year, with no-table gains in transport and logistics (up 81per cent on 2013), construction and property(up 65 per cent) and security and safety (up61 per cent).The Reed Job Index of new vacancies,
which is compiled every month using datafrom more than 180,000 live vacanciesadvertised on reed.co.uk, stands at 196, upfrom 153 in April last year. Meanwhile, at 97points, the Reed Salary Index remains lowerthan when it was first set in December 2009,as pay rates have failed to keep pace with
the rising costs of living.James Reed, chairman of reed.co.uk, said:
“We’ve seen a marked rise in the creation ofpermanent jobs since the start of the year,as employers gain confidence and makelong term growth plans for their businesses.“While there continues to be much debate
