My Name is

and I'm an upcoming female rapper coming straight out the south. I'm originally from Biloxi,MS but I now live in Jackson,MS.

6

Rita: How long have you been doing music ..?

Cherrelle: I started rapping when I was 12.

Rita: What female rappers have inspired you to want to get in the game ...?

Cherrelle: Well actually, there were no females who inspired me when I first started rapping. Bow Wow actually inspired me. He made it known that you can be very young and successful. As the years went by, I started to give up and rapped for fun. Then, I started seeing people like Tokyo Diiva, Lil Spreezy, Lil Mama, and Nicki Minaj rapping. So those women inspired me to CONTINUE my dream I started in 2002.

Rita: Are you working on an Album ..?

Cherrelle: Yes ma'am. I'm currently working on an album and a mixtape at the same time. My goal is to have my mixtape out ON or BEFORE May 25 (my birthday). As far the album, Fall 2010.

Rita: What is your creative process when you make a song ..?

Cherrelle: First, I listen to a beat to determine what type of song should be written to the beat. Then I start reflecting on what I have experience, what women like to do for fun, and being a voice for somebody else.

Rita: How did the song " Diggin You" come about featuring Dosha...?

Cherrelle: When I first heard the beat, I was like "this seems more like a freak beat" So, I started thinking about some of the things I like doing and I name some of them in my song.

Rita: Is "So Dope " your favorite song on the Album ....?

Cherrelle: Its one of my favorite songs.

Rita: You're a Female Rapper in Jackson Ms, is it hard for you to get recognition in Jackson Ms......?

Cherrelle: Not at all. At first, people took me for a joke because I don't look like the type to rap and I'm always acting silly, but when I open my mouth, their mouth drop. Since I'm in college, I get recognition from people all over the United States that attends JSU.

Rita: How did you hook up with your Label Southerrn Kingz Ent ....?

Cherrelle: I met the CEO "Derek Gettis" on facebook 15 months ago. At the time, I was the Co-Founder of a label name I-Goon Ent. After hanging with Mr. Gettis, he told me he would take me under his wing, meaning he would put me on. I decline because I didn't want him to think I would use him for free studio time. As the months went by, Mr. Gettis open my mind up about the DUTY of a CEO. The CEO of I-Goon wouldn't help me and everytime I would ask him for studio time, he declined. I couldn't understand why because he would be putting new songs on Facebook every other day. Also he was doing shows and putting people on the label without my knowledge. After my conversation with Mr. Gettis, I came to a conclusion that I didn't want to be apart of I-Goon since the CEO was helping himself and not including me. I'm not going to knock I-Goon for their talent, because they have what it takes. In November of 2009, I became apart of Southerrn Kingz Ent.

Rita: Any Advice for other females wanting to get in the Rap Game ..?

7

Cherrelle: Never let anybody bring you down. Always keep your head up and go harder than the next rapper. Don't be too quick to give in when somebody tell you they will give you FREE studio time. Alot of times, they want sex in return. Think positive and believe in yourself. Even when things aren't looking so good. What you attract is what you get. What you get is what you THOUGHT. If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, you're right.

Rita: How can people get in touch with you if they wanna book you for a show what is your Myspace,Facebook,Twitter etc.,....?

Cherrelle: This is my original facebook www.facebook.com/cherrelleTo book me, you can contact Derek Gettis at 601.665.5952 or you may email [email protected]

Rita: Any last words or shout -outs ...?
