Registration Information

By Mail ­ Send a completed registration form with a check, money order, or credit card number to: Swartz Creek Community Education 8197 Miller Rd. Swartz Creek, MI 48473. By Phone – To register by phone please call (810) 591­4388 between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted. Payment must be made at time of registration. In Person – Bring your completed registration form to the Swartz Creek Community Education office located in the Cage Fieldhouse at 4110 Morrish Rd. between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday – Friday. Registration Deadline – The registration deadline is 3 days before the class begins. Most classes have a minimum and maximum limit to the number of participants allowed. Therefore, any classes which do not meet the minimum enrollment requirement may be cancelled. Please register as early as possible as registrations will be accepted on a first­pay, first­serve basis. Class Confirmation – We do not confirm registrations, please go to your class the first night. You will be contacted ONLY in the event of a time change, date change, or class cancellation. Inclement Weather­Cancellations will be announced by TV, Radio, and on www.swartzcreek.org. See page 6 for celly info.

Swartz Creek Community Education Refund Policy

Contact the Community Education office regarding class concerns or refund requests. A full refund is guaranteed only if we cancel a class, or you drop/transfer a class five or more business days before the start of class. There will be no refund, credit or reduction of fees for classes missed by the student; therefore, classes will not be pro­rated. A $5.00 cancellation fee will be assessed to each class $50 and under that is cancelled by the participant. A 10% cancellation fee will be assessed for each class over $50. Additionally, there will be no refunds on or after the start date of class.

Gymnastics – A fun and energetic gymnastics environment involving tumbling, beam, and bars. Learn to jump, bounce, tumble and balance under the supervision of one of the area’s best gymnastics teacher, Cindy of Heavenly Tumbles. This is a great way to try gymnastics with minimal investment. Beginners and more advanced students are welcome to sharpen their skills. Open Gym­ Join us at the Cage Fieldhouse for open gym basketball. Adult open gym is for anyone 18 years and over and will be a structured 5­on­5 Pickup Basketball program. Pickleball ­ Feel like a champion playing this exciting paddle game called Pickleball! Now you and your friends can join thousands of other people playing this net court game. Equipment is provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own. All players welcome, you do not need to bring a partner. Tai Chi­Tai Chi is for stress relief, mental clarity, personal renewal, and positive thought education. This simple form of Tai Chi focuses on the healing properties of Qigong (Chee­Gung) translated as “breath work” or breathing. Cheerleading­Champion Force Athletics is a fun and exciting program for students ages 4­15 with or without previous experience. Students will learn jumps, kicks, arm motions, stunting, cheers and chants and learn a pom dance routine. Students will learn the necessary skills needed for school cheerleading tryouts. Our program works to build self confidence, poise, self esteem and physical fitness. Optional events may be offered. Optional merchandise may be ordered through the Coach at class. Extreme Group Personal Training­ Achieve your health and fitness goals with the Extreme Group Personal Training Program. During this 7­week program participants will learn cutting­edge exercises in addition to health enhancing eating practices that will work together to help them attain their wildest fitness fantasies. Week 1 will begin with a one­on­one fitness consultation and assessment to be used to set the foundation for developing each participant’s personalized fitness programming. During the following 6 weeks, participants will be challenged to achieve weekly, at­home goals (as recommended by the personal trainer and set individually), in addition to attending the weekly class meetings. Although this class is designed to meet the needs of beginner, intermediate and advanced exercisers alike, it is for serious participants only and may require a significant time commitment. American Sign Language­This course is designed to help students develop comprehension and production fingerspelling skills used in American Sign Language. Cardio Drumming­ Connect with your true rhythm in life by combining drumming, music, rhythm and movement. You will be releasing stress, aggression, and sweat by enjoying this new way of exercise! Women’s Self­Defense – This course will teach psychological and physiological reactions to stress, how to deal with different types of sexual harassment/intimidation, home security measures, and defensive maneuvers as well as defensive counter­strikes. It will have classroom instruction as well as a significant amount of hands on techniques. Students should be in good health, although the course can easily be taught to those with disabilities. All ages are welcome but anyone under the age of 18 will need to have an adult present. This course is taught by a former police officer and Defensive Tactics instructor. Mondays: 6:00­6:30pm OR Wednesdays: 6:00­6:30pm OR Saturdays: 10:00­10:30am LEVEL 1 The objectives of Level 1 are to learn basic personal water safety information and skills, to help participants feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. At this level, participants start developing positive attitudes, good swimming habits and safe practices in and around the water.

Mondays: 6:35­7:05 pm OR Wednesdays: 6:35­7:05 pm OR Saturdays: 10:40­11:10 am LEVEL 2 The objective of Level 2 is to give participants success with fundamental skills. Participants learn to float without support and to recover to a vertical position. This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills and lays the foundation for future strokes.

Mondays: 7:10­7:55 pm OR Wednesdays: 7:10­7:55 pm OR Saturdays: 11:15­12:00pm LEVEL 3 The objective of Level 3 is to build on previously learned skills by providing additional guided practice. Participants learn to survival float, swim the front crawl and elementary backstroke. Participants are also introduced to scissors and dolphin kicks and build on the fundamentals of treading water as well as headfirst entries (diving).

Mondays: 7:10­7:55 pm OR Wednesdays: 7:10­7:55 pm OR Saturdays: 11:15­12:00pm LEVEL 4 The objectives of Level 4 are to improve skills and increase endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front crawl, elementary backstroke) for greater distances. Participants add the arms to the scissors kick and the sidestroke. Participants also start to learn the back crawl, breaststroke and butterfly and the basics of turning at a wall.

Mondays: 8:00­8:45 pm OR Wednesdays: 8:00­8:45 pm OR Saturdays: 12:05­12:50 pm LEVEL 5 The objectives of Level 5 are coordination and refinement of strokes. Participants refine their performance of all strokes (front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke) and increase their distances. Flip turns on the front and back are also introduced.

Level 6 also introduces other aquatic activities and offers three options – Personal Water Safety, Fundamental of Diving and Fitness Swimmer.
