GENERAL INFORMATION

NSD has developed and offers its clients a package of organizational and technical solutions that would allow clients to use the SWIFT equipment installed at NSD to connect to the SWIFT network (Shared Connection).

Shared Connection may be of interest both to those organizations who are just about to start using SWIFT, and SWIFT users who seek greater reliability and cost reduction.

The cost of connection to SWIFT through NSD will be several times lower than the cost of a direct connection. Additional benefits include reduced qualification requirements to, and reduced load on, the staff in charge of the SWIFT system maintenance.

NSD holds all necessary permits required to provide SWIFT Shared Connection services. An organization using the SWIFT network through NSD’s terminal becomes a SWIFT member and an absolutely independent user with his own SWIFT/BIC code.

Full SWIFT membership implies the possibility to independently deal with the SWIFT headquarters in any business project using wide technological capabilities offered by NSD for the use of SWIFT services.

NSD, on a continuous basis, develops new connectivity options and builds up the hardware and software platform of NSD’s SWIFT Terminal to improve the system fault-tolerance and speed to cope with an ever increasing number of messages transmitted by clients.

ADVANTAGES OF CONNECTING TO SWIFT VIA NSD No need to build and pay for additional expensive dedicated SWIFT communication channels.

A possibility to subsequently move to the proprietary platform without losing investments made when using Shared Connection.

Shared Connection does not require purchasing and maintaining dedicated equipment that must be licensed.

An organization using the SWIFT network through NSD’s Terminal is a SWIFT member and an independent user with his own SWIFT/BIC code.

NSD maintains higher requirements to NSD's SWIFT Terminal and ensures its failure-free operation as compared to a standard configuration terminal.

Cost reduction both at the connection stage and the maintenance stage. A flexibility in choosing a connectivity option and interfaces.

NSD’s SWIFT Terminal has enhanced technical and functional capabilities as compared to a standard configuration terminal.

ENSURING FAILURE-FREE OPERATION WHEN CONNECTING TO SWIFT VIA NSD

A fully functional platform distributed over three remote sites.

Critical components are sufficiently redundant at each site: - two communication channels of different communications services providers (in total, 5

dedicated channels and 1 Internet channel); - use of VPN Box and HSM Box clusters.

Use of SWIFT Alliance Access server clusters between two sites, with guaranteed data synchronization between the sites in real time and data synchronization with the third site with a delay of no more than 40 seconds.

Constant availability of all of the three SWIFT Web Platform servers. A client who has a SAM may choose any server for connection.

Use of the Moscow Exchange's network infrastructure. Connection is possible both via Moscow Exchange's channels and via Internet channels.

All of the three SWIFT Alliance Gateway access servers and all of the three of our SAA servers are constantly available to clients. Automatic switch to another SAG in case of a connectivity problem.

ADVANTAGES OF USING SWIFT

SWIFT takes financial responsibility for the accurate, complete, and timely delivery of messages.

Reliability

Only the sender and the recipient can read or change a message in the course of its transmission between them.

Security

SWIFT formats and standards allow creating applied programs for the automatic processing of messages.

Efficiency

SWIFT formats allow transmitting almost any information necessary for Participant's day-to-day operations.

Standardization

ADVANTAGES OF USING NSD'S SWIFT TERMINAL

• In online mode, on business days, 7 am to 11 pm (Moscow time). • In offline mode, at any other time, by mobile phone numbers.

Terminal maintenance

• Three geographically distributed remote sites for principal and redundant data processing centers, communication channels, and customer service offices. • Use of fault-tolerant IBM and HP servers with the AIX and Windows operating systems, cluster technologies, and SAN for data storage. • Use of the IBM Tivoli solution for a comprehensive online monitoring of the Terminal operation.

Fault tolerance of the Terminal

The Terminal operates on a 24x7x365 basis, save for the periods of scheduled maintenance during non-business hours.

Terminal's operating hours

• All of the above benefits will become available to our clients without the need for them to increase their SWIFT maintenance costs. Moreover, they will be able to significantly reduce their costs as compared to the direct connection option.
