Split Time Guest: Richard Shoulberg

About this episode: In late October, the sport of swimming lost one of its great-est athletes and greatest peo-ple, Fran crippen. It marks the first time in the modern era that a swimmer died in competition. In the weeks that followed this trage-dy, there were many questions, most of which have not been answered in any kind of official manner. So what did happen on Oct. 23 in Dubai? How does one of the fittest swimmers—at the top of his game—drown? To go over some of these questions and talk about what needs to change to ensure that this never happens again, we’ve brought in Fran’s coach, Richard Shoulberg.
