November 9th 2012, the EFSA Commission published the claim in accordance with the (EU)regulation Nr. 1048/2012.
Health Claim regulation for the reduction of the risk of coronary heart diseases with beta-glucan from barley.
Fundamentals and scientific studies are proofing that the consumption of beta-glucan from barley reduces the LDL cholesterol.
The consumption of 3 g beta-glucan daily effects the LDL cholesterol level positively.

Beta-glucan forms a gel which is absorbing and transporting the LDL (which is considered the bad cholesterol) out of the body without affecting the valuable HDL cholesterol.
It has been proven by EFSA that beta-glucan reduces cholesterol (LDL) in the blood by a daily intake of 3 g beta-glucan.
