Variety in the front row attack disappears:

• 2nd tempo on Pos. II / IV dominates

speed – ball curve differences in dependence of the

opposite serve

in case of floating serve or free ball situations

attacks are quicker and flatter

• Not only high balls from the back court attack

Page 3: Sydneytrends T S

Trends

• Complex 1:

simplification of the play & reduction of the

variety

(dopple-quick, cross, elevator...)

• Complex 2:

occaisonally attack combinations

Trends

• Running Score:Win each rally!Avoid any errors!

• Outstanding hitters in the team is the guarantee of success:(YUG: Miljkovic, Vujovic; ITA: Satoretti; ARG: 3; RUS 5)

• Diagonal Hitters: 31% successful attacks

• One Receiver/Outside Hitter in a team:

over 20% of all attack points

Page 5: Sydneytrends T S

Trends

• Success of a team is based on two outstanding players:

diagonal and outside attackers contribute to the points

with a part of 50-60%

• Substitution of specialist (serve, block, defence) in the

case of big points:

(in front of important rallies)

• Set decreases to 40-50 rallies

• Set subdivides in 5-7 intensive sections (time-outs)

Page 6: Sydneytrends T S

Trends

• Problems of load are reduced:due to score system, new set limit, libero, technical time-out

• Power Volleyball (rational & perfect play) succeeds in opposite to Combination Volleyball: that means: quality of individual abilities and actions are decisive!

• C2 – break of rally:part of block increases

• Specialist means:perfect and variable in the play actions

to calculate the behavior is more difficult

Trends

• Quick Hitter:

8 - 17% of all attack points;

conditional on bad receive

substitution with libero;

no substitution with libero up to 20%

backcourt attacks Pos. VI

Page 8: Sydneytrends T S

Technical Seminar:

TeachersDr. Christian Kröger

Trends

• approximately identical team formations and profiles of the players

• hardly no differences in receiving formations and attack variations

• differences in the players abilities

• differences in profile of diagonal attacker(ITA-Satoretti; RUS-Jakovlev; ARG-Maly):

In case of brilliant servers: 4 persons in receive formation(YUG-no diagonal player in the receiving formation)

Corresponding:

game conceptions of most of the teams

Page 9: Sydneytrends T S

Technical Seminar:

TeachersDr. Christian Kröger

Trends

• Integration of middle blocker/quick

attacker in the receive formation with

back court attack

• (Pos. VI) offers more possibilities

• Pos. VI:

Success 60%

Error 15%

Back Court Attack:

• extreme off hand

• wipe-off
