    Credit Hours: Three (3) Semester HoursPre-requisites: DMA-050, RED-090Co-requisites: noneCourse Description:

    This course introduces the fundamentals of SAS programming. Emphasis is placed onlearning basic SAS commands and statements for solving a variety of data processingapplications. Upon completion, students should be able to use SAS data and proceduresteps to create SAS data sets, do statistical analysis, and general customized reports.

    Course Goals:

    1. Provide students with a basic knowledge of the SAS programming language.2. Provide students with hands-on experience with the SAS language, procedures and

    datasets.3. Provide SAS proficiency in importing and exporting raw data files and from Excel

    spreadsheets.4. Provide SAS proficiency in manipulating and transforming data.

    5. Provide SAS proficiency in analyzing data sets and producing descriptive statistics.6. Provide proficiency in reading and combining SAS data sets.7. Provide proficiency in creating basic detailed and summary SAS reports.8. Provide proficiency in editing and debugging SAS programs.9. Prepare students to take the SAS Base Programming for SAS 9 exam.

    Student Learning Outcomes:Upon successful completion, students will be able to demonstrate (through completion ofclasswork and assignments):

    Excellent knowledge of the SAS programming language for use with the followingtasks:

    Importing and exporting raw data files

    Manipulating and transforming data
