Cadbury began its operations in 1948 by importing chocolates and then re-packingthem before distribution in the Indian market.
Milk chocolate for eating was first made by Cadbury in 1897 by adding milkpowder John paste to the dark chocolate recipe of cocoa mass, cocoa butter andsugar. Led by George Cadbury Junior. Three names were considered: Jersey,Highland Milk and Dairy Maid. Dairy Maid became Dairy Milk, and Cadbury'sDairy Milk, with its unique flavour and smooth creamy texture.
Currently Cadbury India operates in three sectors viz. Chocolate Confectionery,
Milk Food Drinks and in the Candy category. Some of the key brands in ChocolateConfectionary are Cadbury Dairy Milk, 5 Star, Perk, clairs and Celebrations. Inthe Milk Food drinks segment their main product is Bourn vita - the leadingMalted Food Drink (MFD) in the country. Similarly in the medicated candycategory Halls is the undisputed leader.
