CLOUD COMPUTING

Cloud computing comes into focusonly when you think about what ITalways needs: a way to increasecapacity or add capabilities on the flywithout investing in new infrastructure, training new personnel, or licensing newsoftware.

Cloud computing is at an early stage, with a motley crew of providers largeand small delivering a slew of cloud-based services, from full-blownapplications to storage services to spamfiltering.

Cloud computing encompasses anysubscription-based or pay-per-useservice that, in real time over theInternet, extends IT's existingcapabilities.

NETWORKING SECURITY

Network security covers a variety of computer networks, bothpublic and private, that are used in everyday jobs conductingtransactions and communications among businesses, governmentagencies and individuals.

Networks can be private, such as within a company, and otherswhich might be open to public access. Network security is involvedin organizations, enterprises, and other types of institutions.

It secures the network, as well as protecting and overseeingoperations being done. The most common and simple way ofprotecting a network resource is by assigning it a unique nameand a corresponding password.

ADHOC NETWORK & VANET & MANET

An ad-hoc network is a local area network (LAN) that is builtspontaneously as devices connect. Instead of relying on a base stationto coordinate the flow of messages to each node in the network, theindividual network nodes forward packets to and from each other.

VANET (Vehicle Ad-hoc Networks) is emergent technologies that theydeserve, recently, the attention of the industry and the academicsinstitutions.

MANET stands for Mobile Ad Hoc Network. The Ad Hoc network thatis used for mobile communication is called MANET.

MOBILE COMPUTING

Mobile computing technologies—wireless or ubiquitous computingtechnologies— such as wireless access points, laptops, tablet-PC’s, PDA’s,cell phones, Bluetooth enabled devices, and fusion devices are thosedevices that have the capabilities to offer learning experiences that caneffectively engage and educate contemporary learners in a variety of newways not typically allowed by conventional desktop computers.

These characteristics allow mobile computing technologies to produceunique learning experiences, such as, authentic environment; recognitionand reflection on accidental learning; enhanced capabilities to correspondwith subject matter experts from the classroom to the field; the ability toshare data over diverse geographic locations; and the ability to beindividually intrigued by the learning at hand that traditional computingenvironments.

WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS

A group of sensor nodes work collaboratively to perform a common application.

In many WSN applications, the sensor nodes are battery driven and they are often very difficult to recharge or change the batteries.

Prolonging network lifetime is a critical issue.

Sensors often have long period between transmissions (e.g., in seconds).

Thus, a good WSN design needs to be energy efficient.

ANDROID PROJECTS

Android is the name of the mobile operating system made byamerican company; google. It most commonly comes installed on avariety of smartphones and tablets from a host of manufacturersoffering users access to google’s own services like search, youtube, maps, gmail and more.

This means you can easily look for information on the web, watchvideos, search for directions and write emails on your phone

Syncing is a way for your phone to keep all your information;websites, contacts, calendar entries and apps up-to-date. This canhappen over your phone's mobile data or wifi connection, seamlessly, inthe background.

DATA MINING

Data mining is the practice of automatically searching large stores ofdata to discover patterns and trends that go beyond simple analysis.

Data mining uses sophisticated mathematical algorithms to segmentthe data and evaluate the probability of future events. Data mining isalso known as Knowledge Discovery in Data (KDD).

The key properties of data mining are:

Automatic discovery of patterns

Prediction of likely outcomes

Creation of actionable information

Focus on large data sets and databases

NETWORKING AND WIRELESS COMMUNICATION

Portability is a big win for wireless Java technology. A singleexecutable can run on multiple devices. For example, when you write aMIDlet (a MIDP application) it will run on any device that implementsthe MIDP specification. Given the dizzying profusion of wireless devices, not having to maintain a plethora of implementations is a bigadvantage.

Even if a Java application makes use of vendor specific APIs,applications written using the Java programming language areinherently easier to modify for another device than applications writtenin C or C++.

IMAGE PROCESSING AND MULTIMEDIA

Image processing (IP) can be taught very effectively by complementing

the basic lectures with computer laboratories where the participants can

actively manipulate and process images.

This offering can be made even more attractive by allowing thestudents to develop their own IP code within a reasonable time frame.

After a brief review of existing software packages that can be used for

teaching IP, we present a system that we have designed to be as “student

friendly” as possible.

J2ME MOBILE BASED PROJECTS

J2ME (Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition) is a technology that allowsprogrammers to use the Java programming language and related tools todevelop programs for mobile wireless information devices suchas cellular phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs).

J2ME consists of programming specifications and a special virtualmachine, the K Virtual Machine, that allows a J2ME-encoded program torun in the mobile device.

Connected, Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) and the MobileInformation Device Profile (MIDP). CLDC lays out the application programinterface (API) and virtual machine features needed to support mobiledevices. MIDP adds to the CLDC the user interface, networking, and messaging details needed to interface with mobile devices
