reason to use it. %therwise, it doesn"thave a high enough defense ratingwhen the enemies at this point cankill you in *)7 hits while wearing it, asopposed to about 7): hits with thePowered or Heavy Armors and theBioHa=ard suit is in#nitely moree2ective at stopping radiation. 8actorin the fact that you need a level 7research rating, and this armorbecomes more of an oddity than atruly useful piece of equipment.

After you get o2 the train, head up thegrav lift and follow the street to the right. ?hen youreach it"s end, climb up the pillar to your right. There is a basketball at the top which you can pickup. Although you can"t open your inventory, once

you have it "ll be in your inventory until you reachthe Faun Braun. %nce you"re on the Faun Braun,hold on to the basketball until you reach Ceck /,the ec Ceck. %n this level is a basketball court. fyou make a shot with the basketball, you"ll get ane)mail consisting entirely of monkeys screechingand smashing things up. However, if you open itand read the te't, you"ll get an entirely di2erentmessage.

are intended, humorous tid-bits included by the programmers. Exploits, on the other hand,

are bugs overlooked by the programmers that you can take advantage of for your own benefit.

The following exploits were taken from Daxim's !" with his permission.

•  The undo function of the upgrade units can be e'ploited in giving you temporaryabilities without paying for it. n fact you pay the cyber modules, but get themeventually back. 8or e'ample, let"s assume you want to make proper use ofmaintenance tools. (tand ne't to an upgrade station and buy some 3A$T skills, butdon"t leave inventory mode. Co now your weapon maintenance with the increasedskill. 0lick undo to receive your 03s back. The same e'ploit also works with repairskills, psi abilities and lots of other interesting stu2.

• ?hen recycling implants while they are equipped, you keep their 94 bonus.

•  To make the laser pistol rapidly delivering overloaded shots, press the change modekey twice in quick succession after triggering a shot. !ou will be able to trigger

another shot immediately without having to wait for the recharge sound to end.

Abundant, Kseful, and a whole bunch #t into 4 item slot. !ou can buy these, but it"s notreally necessary due to the fact that your >crew mates> usually carry one. +ood for about 45HP.

Me"i :it

Luite a bit rarer than than the Health Hypo, this heals all your health. +ood if you Gust lost alot of Health in a skirmish and can"t #nd a 3edic Table, but try not to use them if you canheal with hypos, or if you can make it to a 3edic Table because they are tough to #nd, ande'pensive if bought from a eplicator.

Although tempting to blow o2 food as useless, it"s a godsend in Hard and mpossible. Thereare several di2erent kinds of >food>D (nack 8ood, 0anned Crinks, 0igarettes, and Alcohol.

1ach type heals for di2erent points. (nack 8ood and Crinks for 4 point and Alcohol for *points as well. However, please note that Alcohol and 0igarettes both hurt you in some way.Alcohol will take several Psi points away, but unless you are a psionic, this doesn"t hurt atall. 0igarettes are Gust useless. They damage, not heal, with no bene#t.

Psi '*po

 This is e'actly the same as the Health Hypo, e'cept it heals Psi points instead. t"s a tadtougher to #nd, and, is the most common way to restore lost Psi points. +ood for *5 PsiPoints.

Spee" '*po

Actually, although was tempted to call this hypo useless, it"s not. t"s really really useful, ifyou have a desire to commit suicide. !es, you read that right, suicide. This Hypo>supposedly> doubles your speed for 4* seconds. n reality, it makes you move at insanespeeds, causing damage whenever you hit a wall. n a spaceship with a lot of small spaces,this is a bad thing. A very bad thing. There might be a use for it in multiplayer, but in singleplayer, the boost is too short and damaging to be much help. recommend if you #nd it, you Gust chuck it into the recycler.

Strength '*po

?ell this one isn"t quite as bad as the (peed Hypo, but there aren"t any real greatopportunities for using this. Because strength a2ects only * thingsD ?rench Camage, andnventory (pace, there are only * uses for this Hypo. Transporting an item you don"t haveroom for, from a dangerous place to a non)dangerous place for later pickup, or moree2ectively bashing in peoples" skulls. personally used it for only one of these purposes, canyou guess which

Anti<Ra"iation '*po

?hen you enter a room with radioactivity, a bar will begin to build on the lower left of thescreen. As time passes, this bar will begin to shrink, and as it does, you will take somedamage. Anti)adiation Hypos will take a large chunk out of the bar without causingdamage, e2ectively preventing a large amount of damage from occurring. Anti)adiationHypos are quite useful during the 1ngineering deck, but because you don"t really see tomany radioactive spots, their usefulness is limited. t"s best to carry these only when youknow you"ll be needing them, thus saving inventory space for other items.

Anti<#oxin '*po

 The To'icity bar works e'actly the same as the adiatioactivity bar, but in regard to theamount of To'ins in your blood stream. Anti)To'in Hypos will remove a large chunk of this

bar without causing damage. (ince there are several things that will cause your To'icityEevel to rise I(piders, Annelid Pools, the Annelid Health AugmentationJ t"s tough to tellwhen you"re going to need this Hypo, so it"s best to keep some on you at all times.

S%rgical !nit Activation :e*

 The (urgical Knit Activation ey, when coupled with an ncomplete (urgical Knit, will createa 0omplete (urgical Knit I+o #gureJ. 0omplete (urgical Knits will restore you health to itsma'imum for a small amount of $anites, making them invaluable. Try to hold on to thesekeys when there already is a 0omplete (urgical Knit in an area, so that you can use it in alater area which doesn"t contain any 0omplete (urgical Knits.

M;5 Game Pla*er

 This is for entertainment only. Throughout the game you"ll #nd various 38C 0artridgeswhich, when used, will make a new game available for play on the 38C +ame Player. All ofthese games are incredibly cheesy remakes of older 0omputer +ames, and involve pigs andcorn. This item can be hacked with a Hacking ability of Eevel 6, opening up all games forplay.

5isposable Maintenance #ool

f you have any maintenance skill, you"ll need this tool to up the repair status on yourweapon. Because there A1 unbreakable weapons in this game, this item wont have muchuse if you"re using one. f you don"t want to be cheap and use an unbreakable weapon, thenyou"ll need to have some of these to maintain your weapon and keep it from breaking.

estores some energy to any weapon or piece of equipment that requires energy. Theamount of energy you get from a single battery goes up with your maintenance level. Agood alternative when you can"t make it to a recharge station.

 This item is found in a replicator on the %perations Ceck once the replicator has beenhacked. This single item can make every useless thing in the game suddenly very useful.How By converting the item into nanites, that"s how. !ou can make quite a pretty pennyrecycling things like (peed Hypos with this, more than enough to quickly pay o2 the pricefor the ecycler. strongly recommend that everyone attain this item.

;rench Epstein 5evice

 This item instantly modi#es any weapon for free, but is used up afterwards. (ince there"saround 6 of these in the game, a 3odify skill higher than 4 or * shouldn"t be necessary.(imply modify a weapon to the #rst level, then use the 8rench 1pstein Cevice to modify it toits second level.

ICE Pick 

 This item instantly hacks any hackable console in the game, but is used up afterwards. "veonly managed to #nd : of them in the entire game, so make sure the console you hack iswell worth this valuable item"s use. "d recommend saving 7 of them for the #nal battle, as itwill make things much easier.

A%to<Repair !nit

 This item instantly repairs any broken weapon in the game, but is used up afterwards. Thisitem is fairly common throughout the entire game. t"s availability, coupled with propermaintenance all but renders the epair skill useless. eep one of these on you at all timesand you"ll never need the repair skill.

Researchable Items

Anneli" 'ealing Glan"

 This has a small chance of appearing in an annelid egg that has been opened. %nceresearched, it can heal a large portion of your health and is a useful alternative to either the3ed it or Health Hypo, but its rarity it a maGor drawback.

Anneli" Psi =rgan

 This is another item that has a small chance of appearing in opened annelid eggs. %nce it"sbeen researched, it can completely re#ll your P( points, a maGor help near the end of thegame when a Psi user can have M59 Psi points. Eike the Annelid Healing +land though, itsmaGor drawback is its rarity.

 This item will raise your P( stat by 4 for / minutes, a pretty long time in this game. There"san important thing to remember when you use this though. 1very time you load a new area,

all bonuses conferred by Psi Abilities and Hypos are reset. (o if you decide to use this hypo, Gust remember not to do it right before you load a new area.

Endurance

1ndurance gives you hit points and determinesyour resistance to radiation and to'ins. There are

better ways of gaining a resistance toradiation-to'ins, but the hit points are nice, so puta couple of points here.

Psionics

Psionics a2ect the power of your psionic abilities.Put as many points in here as possible if you usepsionic abilities a lot, if you use one or two spellsonly, * points is #ne. f you never touch psionicabilities, don"t put any points in this.

 Agility 

Agility increases your running speed, reduces falldamage, and reduces weapon kickback. !ou"ll wantto put some points in to this, no matter what classyou are, for the increase in running speedincrease. ?ith enough Agility, none of the 3eleNrange attackers will be able to touch you. Thereduction to fall damage isn"t really helpful, asthere aren"t many areas you can fall from that willcause damage in the #rst place, while the

reduction to ?eapon ickback helps with thestronger weapons which tend to have strongerkickback. 3arines should have this ma'ed out,%(A agents should have 7): points, and Techiesshould have this anywhere from 7)6 depending onhow they"re playing.

#ech Skills

Hack 

 This is one of the more powerful skills in thegame. Having a high hack ability allows you tohack into the many (ecurity (tations across theFaun Braun and ickenbacker, disabling thecameras, and more importantly, any turrets. ?henyou"ve disabled the turrets, you"re able toapproach them, and with a level 7 hacking abilityor higher, you can actually gain control of theturret. 0onsidering that most turrets are inimportant areas, they can be a great help.

Repair 

 This is a completely useless skill. As long as youkeep an eye on your maintenance level for youweapons, they won"t break down. And in the rareevent that they do break, there are plenty of auto)repair items that can #' it right back up for you. The same goes for weapons that you #nd. f you#nd a really good weapon that you Gust want to tryout, but can"t wait till you #nd an unbroken one, Gust use an auto)repair item instead of wastingyour upgrade points here.

Modiy 

 This is a moderately useful skill. "d recommendgetting level 4 or * in it so you can modify thepistol, shotgun, and laser pistol to level 4. Afteryou"ve modi#ed them to level 4, simply use a8rench 1pstein device to upgrade them to level *.t"ll be well worth the handful of upgrade points

you spend. However, wouldn"t recommendupgrading skill past level *, as you"ll #nd plenty of8rench 1pstein devices to upgrade your weaponsto level * if you"re Gudicious in their use.

Maintain

 This is another very important skill. 1very weaponin (ystem (hock *, with the e'ception of themelee weapons and the Psi Amp, has amaintenance level. ?hen a weapons 3aintenancelevel gets to 4, there"s a chance with every usethat the weapon will break if you use it. Havingyour gun break in the middle of a #re #ght is notfun. Try to get this up to level :, because at thatlevel you can perform maintenance on every

weapon and you"ll raise the maintenance level ona weapon by : with every use of a maintenancetool, which will save you a lot of money. naddition, the maintenance skill raises thema'imum you can charge stu2 to, which will helpsave you trips to the recharge station and back.

Research

 There"s some use in this, as it allows you to usecertain items, and give you bonus damage againstenemies. However, the only bene#t from putting

more points in this is lowering the time required toresearch. nstead of putting your points in here, Gust equip the lab assistant to get level 4 research,and run o2 and continue with your mission whileyour research takes place. Then put the points yousaved towards a more useful purpose.

CM&# Skills

Standard 

 The standard weapons skill is the most important0ombat skill. !our #rst weapons will be fall underthe (tandard category, and all of the (tandardweapons are quite useful. f you get this up to level6, you"ll be able to use the Assault rie, which isthe best weapon in the game. nvesting yourpoints here is both a good short and long terminvestment.

Energy 

1nergy weapons are the most e2ective weaponclass against mechs. However, the laser pistol isthe biggest reason to put points into this skill. t"s

e'tremely e2ective against all robot classenemies, and is moderately e2ective against mostesh based creatures as well. This is anotherweapon skill that will serve you well throughoutthe game.

Heavy 

 The only reason you should bother with this classat all is for the grenade launcher. t"s a powerfulweapon, and ammo for it is very plentiful.However, because the other weapons in this skillas so worthless, and because the grenadelauncher already does plenty of damage, there"snot much reason to get more than level 4 or * inthis skill level.

Exotic

 The e'otic weapons class is a maGordisappointment. All the weapons show up too lateto be useful, and require not only 1'otic ?eaponsskill, but research skill as well. %f special note is

the ammo that the weapons in this class use. Throughout the game are many various emptyglass Gars. 8or the longest time, couldn"t #gureout what they were for, #gured they were Gustclutter like the plants scattered throughout thegame. Through trial and error, however, foundthat the glass Gars are actually ammo containersfor the e'otic weapons. By dragging an emptyglass Gar from your inventory on to one of themany at annelid pools throughout the game, youcan actually #ll the Gar with annelid worms which

can be used as ammo for your e'otic weapons.$ice of them to e'plain this somewhere. The onlyredeeming thing about the e'otic weapons is the0rystal (hard, which is the most powerful meleeweapon in the game, however, by the time you#nd the crystal shard, you really shouldn"t be usingmelee attacks.
