• A microblogging social network.
• Users compose 140 character messages called tweets.
• The key of Twitter is not only the tweets, but the interaction between users in tweets through user mentioning and hashtags.

What does Twitter Do?

• Hashtags allow a word or phrase to be used as metadata in a tweet.
• Allow for the tweet to be included in a search of the hashtag.
• User Mentions allow a Twitter account to be included in a tweet.
• Users will be notified of their mention.

• Using a hashtag for students to use as a classroom notepad for ideas, resources, tips, and information.
• Posting important class information.
• Holding office hours on Twitter.
• Student discussion, questions during class.
Communication

• Recapping high level concepts after class on a Twitter account.
• Connecting students and instructors between two separate classes.
• Corralling comments after class for answering at the beginning of next class.

• Posting sample questions.
