IUCN World Conservation Congress 2021

The Business Journey aims to demonstrate the role and responsibilities of business in implementing global conservation goals, and the respective roles of governments and the conservation community to support the mainstreaming of biodiversity within companies. Through this Business Journey, you will discover how business can value and conserve nature, the contribution of business in effective and equitable governance of natural resources, and the business case for investing in Nature-based Solutions. Participants will also gain an appreciation of the critical elements required for effective multi-stakeholder collaboration. Join us at the IUCN CEO Summit, the Business & Nature Hub, the High-level Dialogues and plenary sessions, and many more business-related events.

The Business Journey

The IUCN Nature 2030: one nature, one future: a programme for the Union 2021-2024 calls for the mobilisation of all stakeholders including State, government agencies, national and international nongovernmental and indigenous peoples’ organisations, and the private sector, to deliver on concrete and tangible positive impacts for People, Land, Water, Oceans and Climate using transformative pathways. The Programme is aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. Throughout the Congress Forum, more than 60 events will showcase and discuss how business practices are being transformed to generate benefits for biodiversity and natural resource-dependent livelihoods. The Exhibition Hall will provide more opportunities to explore the latest science, tools and partnerships that are addressing business and biodiversity issues, including in the Post-2020 Pavilion, the Conservation Finance Pavilion and the Business and Nature Hub, among others. IUCN Members, Commissions, business leaders, government actors and academia will all participate, joining in central stage discussions as well as social and cultural events. The Exhibition Hall is open to Congress participants and the general public. The Business Journey is not the comprehensive list of events relevant to business. The events search function on the Congress Portal is a very effective tool. Click here to see a list of all events tagged as “business/private sector”. You may wish to search key words such as:

• Sectors: Economics/Finance, Extractives, agriculture, energy, infrastructure, tourism, markets and economy. • Approaches/tools: standards, data, indicators, landscape, conflict resolution/mediation.

Below you will find a list of selected business-related events
