Our Lady of Guadalupe

On Wednesday, the 8th graders presented a bilingual play based on the life of St. Juan Diego. This is a fun way to learn more about

our Catholic faith and Mexican traditions. Congratulations to all 8th graders for such a wonderful job.

We would like to thank Senora Hinojosa for guiding the

8th grade class with their beautiful presentation of Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Our Advent Prayer Journey

Are you ready? As we approach Christmas, we buy presents in preparation to give to our friends and family. But how do we

prepare to welcome Jesus who is at the heart of this season? Your first task is to choose a bag of rocks to carry on this journey.

Station 2: Joseph was a carpenter. He was also going to be Jesus' dad on earth. Carpenters often fix or restore things that are broken. As you hammer a nail into this wood, think of something that you would like to fix or make better in your life. Ask God to help you with this over the Advent season.

Welcome to our Advent Prayer Journey. Today, you will be going on a journey of talking and listening to God…be ready

to look with your eyes, listen with your ears, touch with your hands,

and smell with your nose.

Jesus came to be the light for the world—for us in our lives and for everyone around the world. The hard times will NEVER put Jesus’ light out.

Look at the candle and think of a person who you know who needs God’s light to shine and love to comfort him/her.

Stand at the cross of candles and remember the joy, hope, light, and peace that Jesus brings you.

December Service Project

We would like to thank everyone who helped with our December Service Project. Our families were very generous in sending in donations for our adopted seniors from the DePaul Family Center.

On Thursday, our 8th graders packed up everything into the bus and traveled to the DePaul Family Center on the south side of San Antonio where they were greeted by Adele Dufilho who explained the mission of the Daughters of Charity through DePaul Family Center.

They unloaded the gifts, took a tour of the facility, and organized donations for the seniors’ party.

Thank you to our St. Pius X staff and families, Adele Dufilho, Mary Micklitz, Kathy Stanbridge, and Christina Velasco for helping our students during this service project.

Walking into Kindergarten

Every morning, our Kindergarten students “high five” and read their words of the week. What a great way to start the day!

First Grade Art Class with Abrakadoodle

Our 1st graders created their own cookies and

God’s Promise of Fulfillment One of our deepest longings as human beings, as social beings, is to be understood even (or perhaps especially) as our most perplexing and difficult moments. We long to be loved for who we are, with the worst of our shortcomings and the best of our gifts. We want people in our lives who will rejoice with us, who will weep with us, who will simply be present to us. In these moments of deep connection with one another, we truly experience the presence of God in our midst, renewing us in his love. This is the promise of the prophets, a promise that came to fulfillment in the incarnation. —from the book Simple Gifts: Daily Reflections for Advent
